Chocobo dyeing R&D Thread - Post your results here!

So, I finally got a stable for my FC and my fruits are in so dyeing time for my chocobo Frobisher! I will update as I go along.

I am working off of this diagram since the calculator that's going around is REALLY confusing to me.

Here's what I have so far:

Starting colour: Desert Yellow
Aim colour: Rolanberry Red
Rank: 3

First feeding
5X Apples
3X 'new feathers' message
Anticipated result: Sunset Orange
Actual Result: Millioncorn Yellow

Second feeding
5X Apples
1X 'new feathers' message
Anticipated result: Pumpkin Orange
Actual Result: Pumpkin Orange

Third feeding
9X Apples
1X 'new feathers' message
Anticipated result: Sunset Orange
Actual result: Sunset Orange

Good results so far! Looks like I'm right on schedule. Here's hoping for Blood Red in the morning!

Got my Chocobo to Snow White today :D
started out from the default

> Desert Yellow
+ around 7 plums until feathers message
> Sylph Green
+ 9 plums until feathers message
> Celeste Green

I looked at the RGB-Values for Celeste Green the Blue was right but Red and Green were too low so I guessed that my blue was probably a bit higher than needed I fed it 15+ plums after all

Solution: Pineapple

+ 1 pineapple until feathers message
> back to Sylph Green
+ 2 Pineapples until feathers message
> Snow White

From what I've gathered each fruit you feed adds to the values until the color actually changes and you get the message. However the amount that is added/substracted is random (there is probably a certain range that it falls into but inside that range it's random, only my speculation). Because of that using only one type of fruit and stopping after the first message is, in my opinion at least, the best method to get to your desired color.

And now someone please tell me what color this is, it looks beautiful *_*

Oh the irony........ Deepwood Green again.
Any help getting from Deepwood Green to Soot Black would be appreciated XD

Try to come to Black too, use single feed and use the diagram.

Single feed with list have work to Rolanberry Red. Then use Pears for Grape Purple and come to Regal Purple.. .Then have use the back feed trick and then i have get at first Dalam. Red and next 6 hours later it was come back to Rolandberry Red.

The i have use Berries for Midnight Blue but TADAAAA, again Grape Purple.... .So i use now the back trick again with Pinapples, then the last feed was with Berries.

in 6 hours i see more. i hope he go back to Rolandberry red, or Dalam. Red... . But i dont hope that i get an other Color xD

btw. i need more $$$ ^^

You can't get that color on your companion chocobo.
That's the legacy chocobo.

Pineapple is optional, however, any variance that may occur with the others lands you on purple, green or ink blue if it's even a little, same as if you add or take any of them, the pineapple, will make it so you are that much closer to soot black if there is such variance, but an be fed on your next attempt too.

I fed my Chocobo the stuff stated:

1x Pineapple
3x apple
4x pear
3x berry

Went from Shadow Blue to Currant Purple ><, so slowly getting down towards a black i guess. any ideas as to what path to go down next?

Trying so hard to get Shadow Blue as well, going off other people's experiences (mostly on the way to soot black :P) and some of my own experimentation. I'm on my ninth feed now. Last was sitting at Midnight Blue (which I'm currently waiting to see what 6 apples (1 proc) and 1 pear (proc) does.

This has been my journey so far: Acorn Brown > Regal Purple > Nophica Green > Currant Purple > Deepwood Green > Ink Blue > Void Blue > Midnight Blue

Wish I could help (was a Regal at one point too), but obviously I'm having some trouble getting there myself. :)

You not alone with this Problem :-(

I've ended up at midnight blue and a few other dark blues in loops for a while now trying for black. I think I may stop until something more concrete is figured out. My gil wallet hurts.

Well ive managed to get ceruleam blue did one the feed for abyssal blue but kept getting gloom purple after the 2 feeds so i tried with 1 plum after and i scored ceruleam now ultimate goal is soot black ill get back to you if i manage from here
