Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Hunter-gatherer societies in the real world are rather inapplicable to the circumstances of male Viera, as they are solitary and in environments with much higher protein availability than what is available to such tribes in real life analogues. Although I'm hardly expecting anything like Roegadyn (nor would I desire it), anything between Elezen and Au Ra or Highlander would be fair game.

While that may hold some truth, the lifestyle they lead would cause the muscle to be a little more visible on the upper body. Again, compare their arms to a female highlander at max muscle tone. You can still tell a pretty fair difference. Shooting a bow requires more strength than any other weapon we have in XIV, and given that archery is most viable hunting method, even a female would have noticeable muscle on her from hunting.

Their Legs are generally fine, although there was a thread some time back that brought the proportions of the female models legs into question but I digress.

I'd settle for the same level of bulk that blood elves or night elves have in WoW. I'd strongly prefer something along those lines than Miqo'te 2.0 a some are suggesting.

Maybe - if we are talking about male viera who are living out their lives in the wood and constantly on the hunt, but I don't think female viera are doing that level of hunting. They have athletic tone, without it being overly bulky. Highlander is known as a naturally strong race.

They chose a healthy medium between midlander and highlander, we do not have access to a muscle slider, and female viera would logically look more like this than a max slider highlander in the first place.

As I recall, Male and Female Viera live separate entirely save for reproduction, so the females would need to fetch their own food. Thus they would need to hunt as frequently as the males.

Not necessarily. The men live largely in complete isolation. The women have the luxury of living in settlements and being able to take turns going out to hunt.

Even so it would still bulk them up. 5 or 6 people hunting for a whole town every day. Imagine how much game that would require each hunter to bring in. I'd picture the system works in a manner that they generally provide for their own hut(the mother feeding her young and herself) first and foremost. Then if someone is injured or too sickly then the whole community catches a little more game each to help them out.

TL;DR comparison: A neighbor that's already at the store and calls to see if you need something like eggs, milk, bread, etc on a bigger scale.

Yeah, this is the major one! A female Viera has the support of her fellow women at home. She can go home to a settlement where everything is shared and supported. She can sleep knowing that there are others out there guarding her, she can eat knowing that fellow hunters have brought back food.

The male does not have this safety net. He is alone. I imagine this is why young males die. 'I'll train you, and then you have to go out and do things yourself where I will watch and not intervene if you mess up.' Most of them do, most of them die.

The structure of their society is that the males are trained and desired to be strong and 'alphas' the women will only accept the strongest. The weak are culled, the strong survive. A weak male will not be allowed to have children.

Mfw Viera is like a case 1 for Incels to scream about 'Stacy' and 'Chad' Viera. I love it. I hope they're Alpha as heck and know it.

Personally I hope the males are taller than the females. In real life I'm quite short, so it would feel strange for me to be taller than the males of my own species in this game lol. Maybe there could be some overlap so it would be possible for a male to be shorter if the female chooses max height. I'd like a min height male to be taller than a min height female though, and the same for the max height sliders.

Androgynous or a small tilt towards masculine is what I'm shooting for.

A muscle slider and a good variety of faces can strike a good in-between, allowing those who want cute get cute, and those who want rugged get rugged. Elezen have a good variety of face archetypes allowing precisely this, and a muscle slider like female roegadyn have would help things along. If they go for what Yoshi P already said, which is much like Elezen except without the strange head and neck proportions, almost everyone can make their character look how they want well enough to be happy.

But I do have to agree that they will most definitely have very strong looking physiques. Not bulky, but still strong.

I am not overly keen on the idea of effeminate as elezen and catboys kinnda fall into that category and tbh if they are gunna be cutesy shota boys that I would rather they not be added at all. I am just hoping for a tall well muscled Jason Momoa alike...A lass can dream can't she?

Shota won't happen. They've emphatically ruled that out.

Alas, I drink those fantasia potions like they're water on my main. As for whether I'd change to male Viera... only if they looked even better!

My boy is always gunna be male au ra I had already decided when the veira were first mentioned. Male bun would not suit him or fit into his personal lore

You and me both. I have probably spent upwards of 300 dollars now on fantasias, and that's actually not even a lot compared to some people around here it seems. Always wasted though, always back to this au ra, this face. I actually saved my preset from june 28th, all I changed was tail length really, decided to make it slightly longer.. I should have never even bothered with viera, I actually feel ripped off.

Word of warning, even if they look good, you will probably end up missing your headgear(s), and hair options. I only had two hairs TOTAL that I liked on viera, and they clipped with most of the outfits I had. Plus SE being so dismissive over our concerns, we paid good money for a gimmick. I hope they take their time on male viera if they come out, and they come out complete. So you guys can have some quality viera for once.

I'm on the fence, personally. If male viera looked great and were to my tastes then I'd likely change into one. Though at the same time, that requires quite a few things to line up:

- They'd need to be fairly well-built.
- They'd need to be tall.
- They'd need a base face that is conventionally attractive.
- They'd need the ability to wear headgear.
- They'd need to have decent animations.
- They'd need to have a plausible explanation for coming out of the forest that is interesting.

My concern is that even if they're added to the game, we won't really see them to any significant degree out in the game world. Even now, I can count the number of male Raen NPC's of note on one hand and they've been in the game since HW.

I'd expect a one-liner as the reason some have left the forest. Only headgear would be circlets, glasses, face masks. "Well-built" probably depends on your definition of it, I expect a toned hyur midlander body. I do actually expect at least one attractive masculine male face - hopefully the male variant hairs are really great. Animations, would probably be debateable - that could be hit or miss au ra were the last added and they stomp around weirdly...

I'm guessing you'll be disappointed just as I was in females. :p

I think if/when male Viera are announced I would level a character to 50 and save that fantasia in advance for the release of the race. Male viera wouldn't fit the two characters I've already started on though.

It's the fact I know they'll have glorious long hair that makes me sort of happy, like they can't mess that up. I will finally have a male who can have dreads/long hair - without it looking weird on them.

Aye, I'm really hoping they have 'resting b*tch face' and their animations are pretty aggressive.

The muscle tone slider would be desirable indeed. I don't even think it's something that should only be optional for some races.

Most definitly. In a perfect world all races would have a muscle slider, and it would be more significant. It would even work with female au ra, specifically Xaela (I don't play those though :p). Then that page long argument from yesterday would have never happened, because people could potentially make a more toned viera than we have, or a less toned, based on their tastes. Unfortunately, it isn't a perfect world (or game) so we just gotta take what we get.

Muscle slider on male viera will just be replaced with ear length or whatever.

Actually a muscle slider might be a bit weird on lalafell, but lalafell kind of creep me out. They are actually really big already.

Yes, they're the one race where a muscle tone slider would be... pointless.
