Noooo! Really?! Then we best remove Viera since all their lore is pulled from FFXII and Tactics and implemented into FFXIV.
Why by golly gee! I so thought this was FXII though! Shame on me for not realizing this!

This is an interesting one on twitter/tumblr by @runescratch. It shows some distinctions between the adult and teenage one with the adult being more rugged/taller.

Hey guys please be careful about showing mods on here. And even more so on who made them. Its technically against terms and conditions and someone could loose there ffxiv account
Wait, where/when does she say this? I've played FF12 so many times and currently replaying it on the switch now - I don't recall her once ever mentioning the males? Is there a difference between the English/Japanese versions? Really curious on if I missed out on a conversation with her. Hopefully, I'm not too far in on my current playthrough to have her speak about the males!
She herself talks to the other Viera, I'm sure there's minor differences in the language though. Time to fire it up once more, and have Fran with you whilst chatting to the other Viera ya meet in the world.
Also, people really shouldn't be quoting, or even posting modded FFXIV content in the forums. Those doing so should remove said post of it. E.I. The modded picture in game that people are quoting.
Yeah, I usually had Fran out when talking to the roaming Viera. I'll make sure to pay close attention this time. If this is true then we certainly know that the males ain't going to be skinny as heck if they're described as 'stocky' - but then Yoshida describes them as 'slim' so, hmmm. Lean build.
It's worth noting that 'slim' covers a very broad range of body types and may very well be meant to be in comparison to Hrothgar and Roegadyn. Next to such bulk, even Xaela/Raen men are considered to be 'slim' but in reality they are in themselves pretty muscular.
I honestly did not know that picture was a mod, I thought it was a fan's 3d model which I've seen people do plenty of times for WoW. I am apparently woefully uneducated on what mods can do. Should have looked more closely.
The original post has been edited, not that this helps the quotes.
Anyway, to keep the conversation on topic, if they were to introduce male Viera it could be males just returning to village, especially if we use Fanow as an example. If you do the Serpent of Ronka quests, the Viis of Fanow decide that the best way to go forward is to stop being so insular. Viis who have left will now be welcome back. This mindset could extend to the males coming and going more freely and maybe setting out into the world as world protectors, not just protectors of the wood. Lore wise there still would be very few of them but lore wise there are very few male Moon Keepers so, you know...
Of course this is only referring to the Viis of the First as inspiration. Viera of the Source we haven't seen yet AFAIK (I mean, outside Fran). Lots of opportunity there.
Yeah, B isn't even toned, nor are they "smaller" that viera would be like 6 feet tall, and would look quite big compared to the rest of the races. It would just look out of place unless they made the males miqo'te height.
Height slider would make a slim bodytype look big in comparison to other races. They should definitely have tone, I think females actually had like a maxed out slider for midlander.
How about let's not attack people for how they want them to look?
Ah, mad of mind. I suppose that refers to the males being aggressive/hostile? Which makes sense since the males are literally written as being cold-blooded and will kill you without question. I'll be sure to remember this when I get there, I had a feeling it would have been in that area.
It's not really evasion so much as recognition that this thread has reached almost a thousand pages of largely recycled points of debate. I also never stated that I wanted anybody to stop posting here. Ultimately it boils down to tone policing - which is something I typically don't approve of. The poster in question was rather blunt, though I did find myself in agreement with his points despite how it was worded.

That's more like the line of "attacking" rather than "blunt" if you ask me.
I don't consider what he said to be too out there. There's nuggets of truth to be found within.
Personally my own interest in regards to male viera stems from the 'fierce forest protector' vibe that they have going for them. Some of the concept art reflects that particular angle. So, too, does some of the fan art.
Let's not beat around the bush - there's quite a few people advocating for male viera to be added in a way that doesn't reflect their lifestyle and background at all.
It may or it may not. It all depends on how the stylization of art portrays it as well.
My train of thought comes from the general lack of variety in the body shapes of both the genders. Lalafell is the only race not included in this since their body shape is far different, but aside from them all the males are anywhere from ripped to fairly muscular and kinda bulky while all the females are given the borderline underweight swimsuit model builds.
Lets also not forget that Viera females are just as if not even fiercer than the males yet they're given such an unfitting physique. So if females can be given an inappropriate build for what they're suppose to live like, then males could get the same treatment.
I'm open to meet in the middle. There's been several pictures in this thread that I've thought were the perfect middle-ground for both sides. Its just that those get dissected by people that don't like anything that's not big, muscular, and bulky and the cycle starts anew.
I am curious, what about the female Viera to you, does not match them when it comes to Physique? They are toned, quite tall, and very strong physically. Just please don't use the argument they are not toned enough, since if you look at Apes, they are massively strong as well and not bulky in muscle either.
They use the same model as every other female in this game minus lalafell.
And those models all have the same skinny and undefined musculature. The musculature is more noticeable on Viera since they actually updated the model for them and only for them. Look up a picture of a muscular woman and you'll see Viera is nothing like it.
I will agree that perhaps they should be more toned, but the issue with this is that they were following the model from previous games as well where they are 'toned' but not to the point where the muscles are showing. This is the same for female Highlander as well, toned but lacking the defined sixpack that should be expected of said race.
It actually takes a female a lot more effort and strenuous physical lifestyle to develop such muscles compared to a male.
Example; a male and a female can do the same workout and the guy will be bigger and more toned showing bigger muscle development compared to the female who will be toned but not as defined.
Apes are not humans so you can't really compare them. We do have many similarities to them yes, but we are still vastly different none the less.
I'm sorry you may not find the argument acceptable, but all my thoughts and ideas are based around humans, not apes.
Being big and bulky would be more of a 'strong' type of build, look Roe. Viera are using a human body with muscle slider at max, toned; athletic. Their body makes absolute sense for a woman who is athletic, and quick on her feet.
They would have to actively be working out, as in muscle building, and doing specific work outs to attain the musculature I think this person is envisioning. While Viera based on the lore would probably be mostly doing aerobic exercises.
Going based of their stats and skills in the Tactics series. They were fast, really fast if not the fastest is what I am getting at. And they kept to that lore in the other Final Fantasy games. Such speed requires a good amount of strength too though, not bulky strength but wire like muscles under the flesh, quite similar to many of the apes and their slim appendages.
They could be bulky, actually. Insofar as tribes are concerned, for some reason only those that are lean and wiry seem to be used as examples despite many tribal organisations throughout history having been possessed of bulky physiques.
I'm fine with male viera being anywhere from slightly bulkier than a Midlander to around the same level of muscle as a Highlander Hyur or Xaela/Raen men.
I just don't want them to be soft and skinny, though thankfully neither Yoshi-P or Matsuno seem to have such in mind when talking about them.
