I am one of those people who wouldn't be.
First of all, as far as I remember, there was no lore for female ronso to be out of sight or anything like that. So it makes even less sense for them to be gender locked than viera.
Secondly there were gender locked races in FFXI and from what I know this wasn't very well received. I think it would be a bad move to do it again. There is already enough controversy around gender locked gear in this game without having gender locked races.
As much as I would love Ronso to be playable (especially if we're no longer getting any new races, which is just a huge shame to me), even I am against the idea of making the races M-Ronso, F-Viera. Not only does it disappoint the people who want to play as the gender that's not playable, but it also kinda makes it jarring/typical of Asian MMO's (by typical, I mean: males are a beast, females are humans with animal bits).
I'm fine with making Viera one clan and Ronso another clan. How it works, who knows, but at least this way everyone gets something (and lessens/kills the chance of the child Viera becoming playable).
They already did it again. Miqo'te and Roegadyn were both gender-locked in FFXIV 1.x, just like their FFXI counterparts. We only got male miqo and femroe in ARR, so yeah, no way they'd repeat a "mistake" they've already fixed.
Should be noted that Highlanders were male only back in 1.X as well.
I guess we're getting tall viera? In any case, I''m very happy :D
Man, I show my support. Viera is Playboy Ganster with her man the strongest out there. Don't ask me twice because I can't a dog in this game.
changeing race to viera confirmed ;)
