Yeah I do not get how they expect to expand the game when there isn't enough inventory space.

Perhaps some of us have a significant amount of time invested in this game already. Perhaps requesting improvements in the game, that some of us have already invested time in, is more worthwhile than "jumping ship" and starting over in another game. If the game was so "inferior" I highly doubt people would feel so invested as to spend time trying to improve a game experience that they enjoy, specifically by pointing out current and/or potential issues and requesting that these issues be resolved.
Perhaps to rephrase, "because they care."
Pretty much when you have a 200/200 friend list, full link shells while needing to regretfully dropping one for room for hunt ls, and a FC from FFXI that is 11 old, while inviting your sissy to play with you (me) you are a bit resistant to leave. When you consider all of that^ +1440 day sub, plus a medium house on the hardest server to get a house (how true is this?) canceling her auto renewal, that is something......
The old answer I would have given would be that I care about the game and want to see it improve, and that I wanted to give SE a chance to act on our feedback. If I were to leave, I would no longer have that capacity, partly because I could not post here.
My new answer is I unsubbed yesterday, good luck everyone :).
Yeah, its pretty standard to have a glamour window (similar to the pet/mount window) in MMOs these days. And a lot of MMOs usually condense materials or find other QoL ways to help players (like being able to store craft items in the bank and craft directly from there in WoW).
I'm wont to believe the Devs have at least responded to some of the things discussed in the forums... besides from that, does a lot of the lacking space really have to do with "Memory issues" or some sort? I understand that 2.0 comes from 1.0 (which was probably fraught with spaghetti code or somethin) and maybe the engine/code they're working with now is nigh on impossible to work with... I'm not sure.
Wait, WoW can do this now? Was surely not able to when i left at around start of Cataclysm, long way for them also to do such.
First one who implied this ingame was Guild Wars 2 i ever seen this and i wish FF14 would take some of the game for such inventory space, Bank wise and Glamour wise.
Yeah, they added a reagent bank tab you can buy in Draenor I believe (I didn't play since Cata myself until Legion came out). You stick your mats in there and you can craft anywhere in the world with them so they aren't eating up your inventory space.
But I'm not sure how much it would help in this game. Its not like you can really craft while exploring anyway. You basically sit in one spot for hours on end doing the most repetitive mind numbing thing you can do- stare at a bar.
Please oh Please
These are not just optional, they Need to Happen
-Currency Wallet (If it's used to Buy something, somewhere, even if it looks like crafting mats idc, It goes HERE)
-Tacklebox/Baitbox (I have a full tab of it, dropped a bunch and I'm still 23 level away from max)
-Glam Box (I personally haven't kept any as I'm already out of space and as a somewhat new player leveling a few class I got too much leveling gear that I still have to keep)
Yes. I mentioned this previously. WoW's personal bank now has an additional crafting mat storage. You can craft anywhere in the game so long as your items are either in your inventory, in your standard personal bank, or in the crafting mat storage. I dunno when they added it - either Legion or WoD.
"server limitations" is the excuse they give which to be fair I think is a garbage excuse. It is possible to code it so it is better scalable. All you then have to do is increase server space a little bit (and when you have the amount of server space as FFXIV already does, a little extra will cost peanuts in exchange for a lot more subs because better inventory). Unfortunately, I think they might need to pull a Calamity 2.0 and fix it that way by getting rid of the useless code. Make it scalable, make it better. Give us the glamour log, give us the fish bait box, give us the currency tab.
I doubt they'll ever properly fix the inventory issues, every time the glamour log is brought up they pretend it's the first time they've heard such a suggestion.
As for crafting mats, lol they are never getting their own tab (ala GW2 or WoW,) that's the main source of all that sweet retainer money.
They announced the new way to get stuff in PvP seasons..and even though I am happy that people can work towards the weapon I really hope that these tickets go toward the currency tab otherwise another inventory slot (or more) gone for keeping them more than one season.
SE is playing ostrich.
You mean like they would expand inventory and then expand it again. Instead "Uhmm, no more expansion because haha suckers." Ok maybe not suckers. Anyone who thought they were going to actually increase in any decent timeline. Probably hasn't been playing this game very long.
1. Glamour log to either store item or more preferably to store glamours in a way we don't need the items anymore.
2. Expand use of Armorire We barely use it. It doesn't have a limit. Or better yet turn it into an in game bank or w/e
3. Since the retainer can not have expanded storage, don't bother with adding more free ones or more paid one use them for ventures only and convert there storage to in game bank storage etc.
4. Currency tab
5. Lure tab
People are already doing that when they claim there is more to come with inventory changes. The second wave never happened, where is it? How come they have not said anything on when it will happen? Ofc people say "but you said" this is a critical problem that needs addressing. Also didn't they say something of the likes "We plan to add enough room so there be no more problems for the time to come" but the first wave did not even address the current needs?
Unless they've said something since that I've missed, the last I recall them saying was something to the effect that "The first series of changes stressed the system much harder than we thought it would. We can no longer be certain an additional expansion is possible."
Googled it. Apparently Live Letter 37.
Mis-remembered apparently, and it wasn't "Not sure if we can do it." It's "Not sure if we can do it unless we change the system we use."

Q24. Please let us know if you’ve finalized the number of slots that will be added in the second Inventory and Armoury Chest expansion.
A24. Unless we change from the current method, we do not think we can add any more slots. There are other factors to consider, such as managing inventory through the upcoming app, so this will take a little more time. It would be difficult to implement it by 4.1, but it is not so far off.
EDIT: repeated previous poster.
as was said, they said NO to further expansions at the moment due to future changes with the app. Which is .. not something I particularly care about.
At this point does anyone want this app? I want this problem fixed! Improve the game coding, move item management to a bank! something! enough "can't d it" it is frustrating to deal with the lack of room and even more frustrating hearing "can't do it server limitations" when other games handle things fine. So yeah the change should be take item management from retainers, make players put stuff on the mb directly and have item management put in a bank, there fixed.
If they made a change where you could stack 999 instead of 99. This would give us some leeway I reckon.
Yeah, the only time it would help me really is when going for gathering/crafting achievements and I need thousands of things on me at a time. Once I get those though, I doubt it will come up tremendously often. Granted, with drops as they are in this game, its not impossible, I suppose.
I agree with you totally, I just made the suggestion which would help slightly, I find having single stacks not that helpful because to craft one material it takes for an example 4 logs to make one lumber, so your single stack does not last long. I currently have 4 retainers and it is still not enough.
All we can do is hope I guess, but like my previous post a few pages back, "we are in the 2nd expansion and it is still a issue" I find it unacceptable that this is not addressed and not high priority on there list that should have been corrected in HW already.
You have item bloat in this game with noway to store it without buying additional 3rd party storage options, and while players are buying this service they are in no hurry to correct it, since we don't really have a choice if you love to craft and that is your main enjoyment in the game. It is a little unfair imho!
sorry for the rant :(
I doubt it. For most omnicrafters, the problem is with the number of different items needed across the board. Very few people are going to stock 200 Electrum Ingot, for example, but they probably stock Iron/Steel/Silver/Electrum/etc ingots. I don't stock even 99 lumber, but I stock lumber of each type because you never know when you are going to need that lumber.
They do have really "good" priorities..like maybe introduce an app if you made sure that there are no inventory problems for most people left (I mean there will always be some people that just save too much but most of us probably are not part of that) And I am still shocked that their system cant take an increase of inventory slots..does that mean that if they dont upgrade their system we will be forever stuck with that amount of inventory space? Even in 6.0? But hey lets have an event with another bunch of housing items which you need to store if you do want to use it later since you cant buy it again ingame..
