Scholar's Identity Transformation

I am really happy to see that other people hate this too!
SCH main since Heavensward here, and I CANNOT express how much I hate this whole 'Angel theme' they force on Scholars.
I started rolling my eyes when they made the fairy turn into seraph...but when they introduced this hideous angel costume transformation, I was horrified...well....I still am.
Someone in the Dev Team really must HAAATE Scholars for some reason...
I mean...what is the design now even?
Fairy, Tactitian, Angels, Military, Academic?????
And now they added Angel Cosplayer to that mess???!!

You can come and try to convince me about Seraph/Angels actually being lore-accurate to Scholars all you want. I HATE it. So much so that I refuse to use that skill even.
So SE apparently wanting to give Jobs their identities back in 8.0, my hopes are up and fingers are crossed!

So I love the idea of merging with the fairy and becoming and transforming into a super powered healer. I like the angelic design used myself, but I'm in the camp it feels bizarre.

Titania is right there. We should look like them and not a generic angel. Especially since the SCH fairies are the same type of thing as a pixie, only under a special contract. The angel thing just gives me sin eater vibes the same way Reaper's enshroud merges us with our voidsent and turns us into a generic grim reaper-like design.

This is the kind of thing I hope job skins let us change.

There's probably no hope, but I've always wished that SCH maintained this like "10 steps ahead" kind of gameplay where you'd have cooldowns that don't trigger right away but have to be timed in advance appropriately and then maybe you could have a separate 90s cooldown that speeds up the activation time in a pinch.

When Endwalker came out I hate that SGE got all of the QoL that SCH should have had in terms of their job gauge.

In Dawntrail I was further disappointed that dissipation not only didn't get any QoL, but was further nerfed because Energy Drain is still 100 potency and you can't combine it with any of the other big SCH cooldowns.Not only that, but Seraphism is ugly. The skill makes no sense thematically. I really really REALLY wished we could have summoned Feo Ul's Titania form instead of Seraphism.

I am really hoping they can at least fix SCH's job gauge in Evercold, but I feel like its identity outsite of chain and expedient has withered away.

Don't even get me started on how crazy it is that the SCH job quests cure the tonberry curse and because its a job quest it basically doesn't exist as canon

SGE got all the QOL

if the addersgall gauge is considered QOL then SGE can keep it

Somehow an awful ripoff and unbelievably boring to boot

(Also where do people keep thinking Titania is remotely relevant, a pixie is the spirit of a dead child, a fairie is a form of aetheric construct, it’s no more thematic than the sin eater like transformation we currently have)

Hard capping your resources at 3 instead of having that refresh to be able to have 6 charges in bad situations is QoL? Please, do explain how a gradual, 20 second charge is beneficial over 3 charges on a minute timer. The only QoL flow should get is being able to use out of combat again, or give us the blanket healer 'full charge' at the start of duties, but for the love of god, don't give us that shoddy slow filling gauge.

I assume they don't for the same reason SMN got Summon Solar Bahamut instead of Summon Hydaelyn, despite everything about Solar's skill set, theming, and coloring matching her; it's a spoiler.

If you need to use 6 charges of Aetheflow you're doing something very, very, wrong. That pretty much means you're going to be using Lustrate 3 or 4 times. Its also going to take you at least 3 GCDs to get off unless you're going to like 6-8-tuple weave?

Addersgall generates constantly. So much so that you end up having to send random Drucholes out so that you don't overcap and so that you can keep your mana up.
You also get another charge on backup with Rhizomata. You also don't have to lose potency just to use your mit. Its also easier to get your mana back up on death since you're not stuck waiting for Aetherflow to come off cooldown & you can just keep Rhizomata on stand-by if you want to play it safe.

I will take Taurochole over Excog any day. Excog can only help top someone top up, it can't prevent them from dying to a hit at full HP in a pinch

Toxikon gives you movement and is the consolation for spending GCDs on your shields. You can also do cool things like throw out shields during downtime to get your charges back. A lot of things will change with Evolved mode, so I could see this becoming completely irrelevant in the future unless Toxikon end up having increased damage so that you don't lose any potency for GCD healing.

What you end up typically seeing from SCHs in Savage/Ultimate is they only use Sacred soil. Everything else goes into Energy Drain even though its only worth maybe 9-12 Broil IV's being completely greedy in like a 9min encounter. Some won't even use soil. Sometimes you see Indom, but its because instead of using Recitation for spreadlo, all they use it for is indom.

"Actual content." Your view on "actual content" is interesting. Never knew content 80% of the players never touch being considered the defacto only content viable in the game. There were plenty of times more than 3 charges of aetherflow were very useful in content 100% of the players do engage with. Bringing up content where healers just follow a script and not reacting to first timers in a duty or similar where things commonly go wrong... Is a choice... You can sit there in your savage bubble being ignorant of the fun nuances we enjoy on the lower end of the game, like having the utility to have that much healing when needed. (Godsend in Windurst, let me tell you...)

Edit: you checked my character for that assumption, yes? "Actual content" how far have you gone in PT solo? HoH? POTD? I would call a solo run, even half completed "actual content" over an arena boss that's just a harder version of the story boss.

3 GCDs is still less than the minimum of 20 seconds for a 4th charge (not counting Rhizo, and gets trounced by the extra two banking flow yields on a shorter CD).

So clunky having to add overheals because you need to dump resources to gain mana, if there was only a spell on a 60 second CD that yields similar MP... Oh, wait...

I love how we are now framing recitation being able to be used on indom as a bad thing and also ignoring soil is stronger than kerechole

And somehow having the risky backup of dissipation is bad because…….weave windows? As if you’d still be doing damage if you were willing to dissipate for resource generation to save something

Addersgall is just a boring copy of aetherflow with literally all the nuance ripped out of it

Because the decision maker is cold and cruel and HEARTLESS!

Jokes aside, I really hope that with the announcement of skill skins, we will be able to transform into something less angelic and more Feo Ul or even just vanilla fairy aesthetic.
