SE, Please fix this FC exploit

this has been a problem since official release, people have been doing this for 2 years now... there used to be a ton of posts about it as well :( ... but yes they should not allow to promote above their rank ... at one point they could promote them to leadership ... someone just missed the promote option in the fc ranks and they would invite a asjdfkljasdlkf alt and promote them and raid the chest... It is a shame that people resort to this kind of tactics and personally SE should ban them but their only reply is dont give them access.... how to build a community if you cant trust anyone :( .... just ban the people doing this its griefing, theft and harassment of a whole fc

Simple solution: if your a FC leader then only give yourself promotion/demotion capacity. If your not the leader then keep all your Gil that you would put in chest and either keep it separate from your personal Gil or just buy what your FC needs. The only reason I've found to put all your eggs in that 1 basket is if half your crafters play at different times otherwise it seems safer to just have everyone hold their own gil. Too many scurvy shisters out there these days

I remember back when my friend first made the FC and he got rid of all the ranks and remade new ones. It ended up causing everyone he invited to fall into the 2nd rank position by default. It seems when remaking all of them its where the problem is. He will have to make sure that the rankings are edited to give whatever the inviting rank is doesn't have permissions. It's really stupid but if no one notices it then it isn't an issue but its been months and it still seems to be. Best of luck getting your belongings.

Crap, this happened on Balmung? I'll need to warn my friends about this. I hope your gil gets recovered somehow. This is obviously an oversight of some kind.

I don't see how it wouldn't, I mean they wouldn't be able to take anything and well you don't have to promote them its your choice and if you make a bad one and they rip you off then you shouldn't give GIL access or access to the community chest to begin with.

Or stop putting stuff in the chest all together, How about lets ask SE to remove the chest all together bam there is your fix.

How have they not changed this yet? SERIOUSLY SE? At least you can't promote yourself to master or demote / kick the master with promote/demote/kick powers, but you can wreak real havok on an FC while a master is offline with settings this way. This was last commented on by SE TWO YEARS AGO.

I only revisited this thread after starting to recruit people into my FC again, and discovering this major flaw when giving someone else promote/demote power. That said, only my master rank has the ability to edit ranks, and there's not anything in the FC safe I'd lose sleep over if it vanished.

Now there is auto-promote if a leader doesn't log in for a certain amount of time, so there will never be a situation where a FC is leader-less.

If you can promote above your own rank, that theoretically means you could promote your friend above you, then your friend could turn around and promote you, also. Next thing you know, everyone is promoted and has access to things they aren't meant to.

It's really time to revisit this.

Bad design and bad that it still works this way.

There's only two ranks.
Leader and member. You can assign a sub-group of members to have promote powers who can give people up to and exceeding their own number in the list, but you can never promote someone to the leader. So saying you can promote someone above you isn't exactly true.

What would be nice to see is if the rank hierarchy would be taken into account for rank promotion/demotion and you cannot exceed past your rank, or perhaps one below. But it's been a couple years now including an expansion and nothings come of it, so I doubt we'll see anything soon.

I think that's what we're talking about here. The fact that many FCs create additional tiers of officers or sub-groups, and that it's still possible to promote someone to a rank higher than yourself because those ranks have been created.

I wasn't suggesting that anyone (who isn't already the FC master) could promote someone to master.
