I agree that a lot of people probably dont find such huge amount of muscles sexy (me neither) but wasnt it you who posted those pure muscle Viera fanarts that you have drawn yourself and said that this was not meant as a joke ?_?.

The fur patch is one of those things that would completely ruin the race, in my opinion. I don't think they could actually add it in unless it was permanent, have they added body features before that weren't it's own thing? I don't know about fur patches on the arms for sure, I actually can't picture how that would look other than it looking weird.
Hmm I never claimed that my art was ever meant to be "sexy" though. I was just asking what Zeylos pictured when he was describing what his thoughts.
My art is just of a really kool alpha viera, kool with a k.
Talking about body shapes again. I was right, we have few cycles here that are repeating over and over again. XD
I don't care how they look. :v I just want them in general. I'm sure SE could come up with a look for them that complements the females. The concept art they showed back in HW looked good to me, I'd be fine if they just went with that.
Aye, this. I doubt they'll have a muscle slider. The females are pretty toned/athletic - but not as muscular as a female highlander, which is a given. I expect the males to be as toned if not more toned than a male midlander with the 'toned' at maximum as default while having the elezen like body, without the stupid neck. When I say elezen like body I mean in regards to height and slimness. Makes no sense for the males to be less toned than the females who have a more cushier lifestyle. You can still be slim and be very much toned.
Sniffle, I had to go back to midlander because elezen neck was just too much. I tried!
Ok... It seems i'm dumb... How can I post the image here??? I've draw some viera (it's a bad drawing, I'm not an artist, but nontheless it's a little contribution to the topic) but I can't insert it in the reply. How do you do this?

You sound like me. I switched to Elezen for like a week or two in December-Jan. I really like elezen actually, but it's just way too difficult to make an outfit, or just run around without looking weird. You have to hide their proportions which really limits everything. Well you don't have to, but it looks better if you do.
My alt was also an elezen (duskwight) for the majority of the time I played her, but I changed her into a miqo'te with the free fantasias from the story eventually. Probably going to switch her to a viera too, cause I can't help it. I really should level her.. and finish the story. :p
Elves are usually very popular in MMO's, so the fact that they aren't in FFXIV is proof enough that something is wrong with their models.
Luckily they're also quite muscular, as Urianger's model proves. So I think they will be better proportioned and reflect the harsh lifestyles of the forest with a tall, lean physique that is both slim when compared to Roegadyn and Hrothgar but still with plenty of meat on their bones.
You should upload it to some image service, like Imgur or any other you prefer to use, and then upload it with its link. And for some reason, while Forum doesn't show your pic, it shows the link in quoting, so I did this for you, if you aren't against.

The main reason I want male viera is because we got female viera. I dont want male viera to be sexy just cuz hey, in fact, I typically never will play a character that wears skimpy clothes (breaks my immersion personally, I just find it quite dumb) the only reason why i want that is because the females are, and in my opinion, the males and the females should fill the exact same nieche in a fantasy game. The other reason I want male viera is because they are like wood elves to me, which is what I go for 99% of the times
I know right! I tried to make some cute looking glamour with the new adventure hoodie and whatnot, can't do it. If it exposes the neck then it just looks horrible. And that's really upsetting. The neck being that long isn't beautiful like I know they were going for. People would play Elezen if they just toned down the neck and perhaps touched up their animations a little.
Honestly, if they had a body like Midlander but taller and perhaps a little more 'toned' I'd be all over that. I love their proportions.
Note; this is the glam I was going for on my alt boy.
Imagine wearing this on an elezen! Don't mind the crappy bow, he's just a baby.

I'm just going Garlean.
They have a 'third eye' - that jewel/stone you see in their forehead. They also have higher constitutions and supposedly higher physical strength? And of course the big one, they can't control magicka - or rather most of them can't. It's very rare to find one that can. Also, unlike Midlander/Highlander - their body types have a huge range. From having a Highlander type body to Midlander, to one that's tall like an Elezen.
Although you couldn't pay me to play as one, i support this, for fairness if nothing else.
Oh yeah, you pretty much have to have collared outfits, turtle necks, or something that covers it up otherwise it just looks really weird. Heads are also very tiny, and can look very odd with certain outfits, but I don't know how to really describe what outfits make the head look smaller; stand out. You just know it when you see it. Viera on the other hand have proper proportions. Yeah, if Elezen didn't end up looking so jarringly weird at times I think they could be a lot more popular. I think they probably are one of the races that need an overhaul the most, but by overhaul I just mean new faces and potentially new animations. Their run animation is way too stiff. Their proportions are a design choice, so those will never change.
I want that top so bad, but I waste my gil on trash like dye constantly. I'm just gonna hold out for the event coming up and make a nice monk outfit so I can level it. I already have my pieces in mind.
So my idea of how they would look like and my reasoning hit the mark then! Like Elezen, but likely with more defined musculature.
Rather than Rambo or The Mountain, given their harsh, survivalist lifestyle, male Viera bodies would be more akin to that of Olympian gymnasts, if anything. Very tall gymnasts.
As a note, I doubt they would be given the exact same Elezen neck proportions.
That would be my guess as well. Of course, similar to elezen but with better proportions.
However, I reject the idea that male viera must look a certain way because of their lifestyle. Not all fantasy races in video games follow this logic because it's fantasy.
I put more stock into what Yoshi P and Matsuno say on the matter which is "slim, elegant, and handsome" and "fit and lightweight" like Riishiki right before his fight with Joe (from Ashita no Joe).
I think it'd be pretty cool if their lifestyle was reflected in their in-game models.
You literally admitted to wasting countless fantasias trying to make your Au Ra stand out and get the "correct skin tone". Your delusions and hypocrisy astounds me. What should everyone be doing? Making inflammatory posts about how pure healing is the only way and how great ps4 pros are? At first I thought you were trolling but it's clear something is majorly wrong with you...
You make a good point. But since this game did try to reflect on this expansion that certain lifestyles can (not will) indeed lead to certain body types, so it's somewhat following that logic. On top of that, the game only attributes one kind of body type to each race and subrace for us to play with, so I went with the most likely scenario which is that they originally started in a village/tribe. Traditionally, these tribes would impose extreme survivalist conditions on them, as Wards of the Forest, and such an extreme lifestyle gives little room for variety of how their bodies will be. Considering they mostly have to provide for themselves, and use trees for stealth, there is little room for love rolls. Not saying there cannot be individuals who deviate from the mean, but I imagine that for most of them it's either become lean and strong, or become dead.
But what happens after they leave a life like that, for whatever reason, behind is up to them according our own roleplaying decisions. Maybe they gorged on all the delicious, luxurious food, given they never had the privilege of being able to satisfy their gluttony for the sake of flavor alone. Maybe they choose a more sedentary lifestyle, but still keep a similar eating habit. Maybe they keep fighting, but with a style that demands even more muscle tone and fat reserves. The possibilities in our headcanons for our characters are endless.
But since this game only gives us one body type option for each subrace, it's really up to Yoshi P which one that will be. Personally, I really like his take on it.
I certainly liked SE's take on their builds in the concept art.
Okay, I laughed at this so hard. They're a Lala! They literally can't be the bigger person!
xD I'm sorry, Shawnerz I couldn't help myself.
Also, I'm pretty sure this person here is a troll from what I've seen while passing them by in other threads. So eh, just ignore them.
Hm, four more days and we a live letter, right? So we might hear something there.
LOL Poor Lalas xDDDDDD
Actually ,I dont have any expectations that theyll say anything, in case they do say something, I think theyll say: 'We are lookign into it, theres a possibility they might come, expect 5.3-6.0 (not sure what theyd say, im leanign towads 6.0) the soonest, but we will make no promises at this time'
I'm more worried about them talking about updates to the current races (M/F Hrothgar and Viera). I'd rather see updates to these finished before male viera, and not slowed because of male viera. It is not selfish (maybe a little), but it's better if they finished what we have objectively before doubling their workload.
I don't even want to hear about male viera officially being worked on until these are done, to be honest. If they ever do get worked on.
Your opinion is yours and completely respectable, but I have to strongly disagree on one point. You say that they should finish what they have before doing more. You have female viera, what you have stated isi your desired race, yet complain about the fact that they arent perfect and cant choose hairstyles. We dont even have the option to play a male viera with 1 hairstyle and no customization. We dont even know how they loo klike. We dont even know when will we be able to play one. Imo, with all due respect (I appreciate u churro, dont be offended, t isnt my iintention qwq) it is very selfish to ask for SE to not give ppl an option that they dont have while they are forced to see how so many other players not only got what they want but are still complaining because it isnt how they want it to be. I do get your point, and I completely respect your opinion, but I also strongly disagree with it. Also, I wanna remind u that dont excpet SE to give all hats to fem viera and male hrotgar before 6.0/7.0, if they get all hats, at all, with things like genderlocking their lasts races and thinking the playerbase would be happy about it, I have lost any sort of faith I had previously on SE when it comes to listening to the community, and male hrotgars wont get new hairstyles (they might get new faces, which will likely just be old faces with the other hairstyles) while female viera will only get a few (I guess the ones you buy/unlock and a couple of the more popular/ newer ones). I also dont get why you dont want male viera to be done if you dont get more stuff for female viera. My line of though here is, more options > less options, if they made a new race and no missing genders (which will 1000% not happen, tis been confirmed several times by SE) I would be glad some ppl would enjoy it, even if I wouldnt, and I'd encourage you to also be glad if others are happy, even if you arent.
P.D Churro I hope I wasnt offensive, I really appreciate u and I didnt mean to offend u if I did at any point. If I do, lemme know and Ill edit my post
I think it depends on how it affects their workload: if the dev team can work on M!Viera/F!Hroth while introducing legacy hairstyles (for example) then it's work they don't have to do in the future for at least M!Viera. However, if by working on the hairstyles they figure out how to make it easier by the time the males come along, then the best thing would be to handle those first. (This is also assuming they have the missing genders on their to-do list in the first place)
I still think 6.0 would be the earliest we can have them be playable, with the earliest we'd "see" one being around the 5.3 mark as a modified femroe model with a covered face and tail (much like Yugiri was a modified miqo'te before 2.5). I'm also expecting a huge non-answer from the Live Letter in case they actually pick that question: not from a "they're not coming" standpoint, but more of a business reason. After all, Yoshi knows it's better to keep expectations low by now. Still, I do hope they see and respond to those questions since it's a way of showing there's still support and interest :)
I'd prefer it if female Viera got some new hairs soon but I would rather have these new races finished before going back to the previous ones. The older ones might not be perfect but at least they're not missing over half of the already existing hairstyles and entire genders.
