Why do people adhere so violently to strats for old dungeons? I'm not saying the portion that says "do this mechanic or you take major damage" but like...

Whenever I tank Haukke Manor, I like to personally take out the Steward before the Jester. Why? Because the Steward does more damage and makes you run in and out of the AOE and pull him and the Jester everywhere. The Jester has lower HP and does negligible damage. But because when this was relevant and one video guide said "take out the steward first", people literally react like children if you do it any other way, including putting the 1 marker over the jester, over and over, or pulling aggro because they won't stop attacking the jester.

Honestly, it's normal Haukke Manor. The order doesn't matter, I just like killing the thing that drops near constant AOEs on the ground first. Stop acting like it's a crime to not do it the way Mizzteq said to do it ages ago.

I have never once not killed the flying one first, because its more annoying and cant have every one of its casts handled by a tank the way the skeleton can.

Skeleton almost always can be cycled through low blow and interject to not get an ability use off.

Its also pretty customary to take out the lowest HP targets first, because that cuts down the total damage quicker.

think there was a good reason ,something about skeleton been sleep vurnerable but i could be wrong.

Got amaurot in expert roulette *sigh*.
The tank we had was horrible. And I rarely say this. Stood in aoes and at the last boss stood nearly in all attacks too, the whm had to always pull him to prevent him from dying, the tank wrote at one point "stop pulling me" but like dude. He died around 3 times at the last boss while the healer, the samurai and me as redmage never died through the whole dungeon.

When we killed the boss , the healer threw shade at the tank by saying "The SAM tanks better then you" . Laughed so hard.

Not sure if it was someone who level skipped or a troll.

I find the skeleton to be more personally annoying. I'm one of those tanks that does try to low blow and interject but I keep getting lnc/drgs who use their own stun in a rotation but not when it would be actually helpful. Three low blows later, they're immune. I've not actually had the chance to use any interjection abilities much yet though. Do those build up resistance like stuns?

I've also noticed that most parties take just about the same amount of time to burn down the skeleton as they do the jester, so while the jester may have lower hp, it doesn't seem to make anything go faster no matter which way you do it.

Honestly on that encounter I just aoe until somebody dies. Never really cared which one. Is it the first Haukke or the second one with the boss that if you kill it too fast you wipe? I hate when that happens. :P

I prefer to take the Steward out first mainly because of the AOE he does. The good thing about Haukke is that every enemy in the instance is stunnable, so I'm fine with burning the Jester first if people want to do that and I'll just stun the Steward once the AOE pops up. It's timed perfectly IIRC, the Steward's AOE seems to be on sorta the same time as Low Kick.

IIRC the Jester does more damage though and has less HP.

The jester can use slow debuff "void blizzard" and it's been that way before mizzteq name was even a thing.
But no matter what, it's just nothing to get the fuss about on which boss should die first.

The hard mode, last boss, if you focus the boss and ignore the adds you'll be in for a rough time. I think that may be the one you're talking about?
