Those must have been young. Most of the older German players and/or those experienced with MMO's speak decent English since they are used to dealing with English players. Not a lot of German players seem to play on German only servers when given the choice. Rarely met Germans where nobody speaks any English usually a couple speak really good English and can explain things in German to the ones who can't. Some French parties can be like this too.

With French players it's different a lot of them pretend they don't speak English regardless then when you are critical of them they magically learn fluent English and start calling you names XD.

I think you're right, the tank who couldn't pull Suparna off me in particular was probably quite young - going off the thousands of emoticons, bouncing around and anime-ish name he had, lol. They were actually quite a friendly bunch (from what I understood), but frustration won out in the end. If I'd been able to communicate, it might have gone a lot better... *googles "holding aggro" in german*

That sounds about right... I haven't had the best of experiences with French players. I remember one run in particular, I accidentally pulled a monster before the tank and they kept talking about me in French, saying, "omg what is she doing", "oh, she's english lolol" until I finally went "I can speak French, you know." That made them go quiet. :p

I was in leveling roulette sunken temple and I had a DRK tsnking. He refused to use grit or darkside. Constantly yelled at me for not doing dps. He took so much damage I wouldn't do anything but heal. He also couldn't hold threat so I constantly healed myself and the DRG who were tanking too. So I decided after much verbal abuse to just let him die at the start of every pull and just heal the rest of us. Ended up just leaving because I was pissed off. End rant

Good tanks remember that it's their stances, CDs, and correct rotations that enable them to do their jobs; there are still some players who seem to think that simply occupying the tank slot and wearing tank gear is enough.

Had a DRK tank in Vault last night who certainly wasn't the worst player ever, but who drastically overestimated his durability and underestimated the need for gaining enmity. I ended up tanking Ser Charibert after the halfway point because my DPS combined with necessary healing output was enough to tear him off. Shortly after popping Shroud I had him back again since the tank and at least one DPS kept taking avoidable damage.

Fortunately it turns out that healtanking Charibert isn't that difficult.

Got a fun little AST story. Starts off with a bit of horror, but has some comedy and a good ending.

Recently, I began to level my AST so I could be more familiar with healing and get it up to the same level as my WHM and SCH. I got Sastasha from the levelling roulette, and the first ability in my cross-class slot is Cleric Stance since at least the first two dungeons do not require Protect. I mentioned this to the party and got no response for or against the announcement. Things are going fine for a bit. Unfortunately, I got a bit greedy with my Malefics during a trash pack, so the DRK dropped on my watch. A lapse of judgment on my part, but nothing too major. The rest of the group survives and waiting for the DRK to catch out up us.

The DRK leaves just like that. Meanwhile, the rest of the party continues to the first boss save for the DPS who went afk waiting for a new tank. I tried to push as much healing and DPS as possible, but again got too greedy and underestimated the boss's damage. Shame on me. The DPS who was fighting the boss with me started giving me a passive-aggressive attitude at this point, saying I should put Protect on instead of Cleric Stance while putting an emoticon at the end of their sentence. I replied that Protect isn't needed for Sastasha and Cleric Stance would make the run go faster. It was all judgment and adjustment issues on my part, which I have control over so I didn't see it as much of an issue. That DPS calls me stupid and says I don't know how to heal and leaves.

This is the funny part: a WAR joined just before the DPS left, so he most likely incurred a penalty. We got another DPS soon after and cleared the dungeon without any further issues. After those two mistakes--which I do hold myself accountable for--I was able to discern a proper balance throughout the rest of the run and found ways to play around with the actions available in my toolkit. Gained a quick level-up from the run, too.

The moral of the story: don't be afraid of failure, learn from your mistakes, and quitters never win (or in this case they also get punished).

At least it was on Sastasha, where mistakes are easily forgiven. One thing to note, is that Essential Dignity is very powerful on low levels, so much so that it can top off most tanks from low HP, especially on a crit. Makes it easy to DoT up with your instant casts, while you can quickly drop out of CS and fire off ED during the oGCD.

Well, Im not much of a healer but if I find myself with this problem I simply would put Protect on the first slot, cast it, and swap it for Cleric Stance in the middle of the no battle times... if I recall, only the cross-class skills go on cooldown if you do this, and Protect lasts a good while by itself :/

I also used to Cross Class Protect on my lowbies and then switch it after casting for another more offensive oriented skill and Protect would persist so long I didnt change classes at all :v

All skills go on CD when you swap cross-class skills outside of a sanctuary, but it's still not a huge deal.
