Casting Adlo or Noct Aspected Benefic does not cause any aggro generation, unless the cast goes off while the tank is pulling/doesn't have aggro on all the mobs. I like to put up shields because then I can DPS more, and not have to worry about people taking damage the minute I turn on Cleric Stance (always fun to have to heal them in CS until I can turn it off) because they have at least a little bit of cushioning if they decide to eat AOEs. It's usually not an issue unless the tank decides to pull before the cast is finished. Then all the aggro goes to the healer.

I really dislike it when I precast my shields (Adlo or Noct AB), and the tank just lets them wear off because they think shields are the same as regens. ESPECIALLY IF THE SHIELD CRIT. Nothing aggravates me more than a tank wasting a Crit-lo + E4E.

They are more than likely casting it just as the tank begins their pull, so thats always going to cause an initial amount of hate.

I will say it happens a lot when I'm healing because some Tanks are in Speedy Gonazales mode 24/7 and refuse to wait on stoneskin or aspected benefic.

Had one tank last night who was charging miles ahead and starting the boss before the DPS were even remotely near due to still dealing with the adds the tank decided to leave alone, one of the DPS managed to squeeze in with a second to spare.

As a BRD main, I very seldom get balances from the majority of the ASTs I run with unless they're expanded (PLEASE I UNDERSTAND EWER AND MP AND MORE FOE'S AND WHATEVER BUT SHARE THE LOVE D: !!!). I WOULD NEVER CLICK OFF HYDAELYN'S GIFT TO DPS.

That's probably because if we dare to stop running while the Healer buffs us, we get bitched at by DPS (sometimes the healer too) for not pulling fast enough. Tanks are damned if they wait for buffs or pull too fast.

Had an interesting trial roulette the other night. Went in and got thronmarch hm (like always...)
One of the tanks was a new sprout and just wanted to know if there was something specific he should do as OT. I was giving him the quick run of either tank the king or tank mogs when the preparation shield (or loading barrier -whatever you want to call that circle) vanished. So my co-healer and I started getting protect/ss going on the party when the non-sprout tank just ran forward and started the fight.

Okay, nothing I haven't seen before in my healing career before I'll at least get protect up during the fight no biggie - except one thing... actually two...

1) He didn't have tank stance on (sprout did though)

okay maybe he just forgot we can remind him

2) he ran to the NW corner and just stood there... literally stood there doing nothing looking at the pretty background.

A BRD and I were hollering at him to do something but no responses or movements.

The king appears and the sprout tank takes the king while all the moogles decent on my co-heal and I and and kill us both causing a wipe.

Im sure the BRD was like me trying to spam the kick option at this point but as soon as we spawn he did the same thing starting the fight and just going to the corner to stare into the distance. This time around my co-healer and I played hot potato with the tank mogs' aggro while the sprout handled the king and the dps the others and we somehow survived.

And as soon as the exit appeared the do-nothing tank was first to leave. Never felt so used and angry in my life ._.

I mean, I'm not going to complain if the tanks wait for Protect/Stoneskin/Adlo/Noct shields. I only complain when, after all the buffing is done, when the tank continues to just stand there/let's the buffs fall off. Or if they pause between every pull. And not for just a few seconds either, like a full minute. Had one of those in my roulettes this morning.

I tend to adopt a sharing is caring approach to enhanced or extended balance, so I'll put it on DPS #1 one for one fight and then switch to DPS #2

Oh yeah, I've got a run to talk about (long story again, because why not?). leveling roul on NIN at like, 2am, get Brayflox. Premade party of 3 sprouts. All new to the duty. Just started last week. @_@; I'll be completely honest, I bit of me died after the first pull, because that's when I realized they were all new. I wasn't exactly looking for a rough run at 2am lmao. But I was like, Ok screw it. If I don't put my big-girl pants on and teach them everything I can, they might never get anyone willing to do it later, and then they'll just suck forever. I knew the run was going to be rough, because it's one of the gateway ones where it forces you to learn teamwork. I'm not even pushy with advice, I let people make their mistakes (usually resulting in a wipe lol), and then explain why it needed to be done differently, since I find that's the easiest way for people to learn.

But these people were like, dead silent for the first 20 minutes of the run, and they weren't reading any of the advice on bosses or gameplay I posted in chat. "DRG, adds," "Healer dying, need to kill adds." "Kill little enemies first please." "tank, best if we keep mobs in corner or we get more than we bargained for," This was roughly the time I figured they were on discord together and weren't actually paying attention to the fact that yes, you have a 4th party member here.

We get to the big open room with all the mobs (a half hour later), and by this point I'm dead tired (trying to tank adds off healer, DPS everything in sight because everyone is severely under geared, plus type advice that apparently no one is reading was taking its toll), and just so frustrated trying to communicate and hopefully help the run go smoother. Finally I ask, "So are you guys bots? 'Cause I don't think I've ever had a more awkwardly silent run since I started playing." Silent for about 10 seconds.

Tank: "Oh sorry, we're on voice chat together. Haven't done this before."

Me: "Yeah... I guessed as much already lol. Hi, I'm here too. o/"

Shite went soooo much better after that. We still wiped a few times (once in the big room, 4 times on last boss), but they were paying attention and finally improving. DRG was going to fall in the trap of blaming tank for not pulling dragon out of poison puddles fast enough, but I had to explain that no, it's really a DPS fail now. Tank was doing pretty good by the second wipe, it was then up to us (DDs) to burn boss fast enough that tank poison stacks didn't get too high for healer to manage. I wish more people would explain this to new DDs at this point in the game so DDs realize how important their roles is. I noticed DRGs performance was much better after that. XD Like no Darling, you do not get a free pass from me. >:D I have nothing to say on the healer, because she was actually very good. Under geared so she didn't have much time for DPS between heal spam, but I still saw DoTs pop up, and she kept her cool when mobs were all over her.

But yeah, it's actually fairly hard to keep sprouts motivated when they're actually trying to do well, but they're still terrible at the game. XD Had to explain a few times that they were given baby steps before this dungeon. Often times the only reason first run of Brayflox goes well is if your other 3 members are experienced enough to compensate for your poor performance haha.

And they were so stoked when we finally beat it lmao, thanking me for the advice and for not abandoning them (which made me a little sad, how many people did they have before that just left with no explanation?). I dunno, I hate how stressful dungeon runs like this can be, but I love knowing I made a difference for someone, so it's a bit of a mixed bag for me lol.

Pretty much, casting any heal right when a tank is pulling is going to rip aggro.

Please tanks, I know there's some of you out there who want to drop tank stance in the middle of a boss fight to get a little bit of extra DPS in, but if you're losing aggro to a Bard using Quelling Strikes in their opener, you should really just keep your tank stance on. Because the fight will be MUCH slower if the Bard has to hold back for 20+ seconds just so you can get a reasonable lead in aggro again or worse, the Bard dies to a tank buster. Especially when the co-DPS happens to be a caster too.

Don't do it unless you really know what you're actually doing. ESPECIALLY if you don't have Provoke for whatever reason.

(That was one run where I was glad to never get Balance from the Astrologian... Although I am kinda miffed that Bards have such a bad reputation that most Astrologians default to giving cards to literally every other DPS class instead, even if I'm pulling 800+ more DPS than the co-DPS without the cards.)

Although I don't main AST, I've been trying to level it up before SB hits and in general I try to bounce the cards between dps, regardless of class (as long as it is an appropriate card for them, ofc.) However if I notice one of them keeps eating aoes or refuses to switch to adds or is just generally bad/lazy, guess who I'm not sharing my toys with anymore! >:3

For those who don't know....
As a BLM if you want to do the lowest damage possible that's how you do it... Each stage of fire builds a stack of fire, each stage of ice builds a stack of ice... but if you do them like that it hoses up and keeps erasing your stacks repeatedly... to watch someone actually do it is staggering.

I wanted to take some screenshots of my scholar today - the best place for that is ofc the Libary! So I queued up for Gulbal HM (better light in the top floors) and got paired with basically three new people. The warrior had like 5k more HP than me (yes, WITH defiance) and the run went slowly, but steadly.
We wiped once at the last boss because I totally forgot about meteor being a thing - its been AGES that I saw that mechanic... so used to Strix being dead before that - today he still had 40% HP left. The warrior had some real trouble figuring out when to go into which puddle and picked up vul-stacks as if they were eastereggs. They died, I raised, but due to lack of provoke the boss started bouncing between me and the SMN. We killed it though and I went back into the giant halls to take my screens.

...and noticed that both the SMN and the ninja stayed in the dungeon - the ninja even followed me until I promised the both of them that there is nothing left at all in this dungeon anymore and I merely wanted to have nice background for scholar screenshots...

Well, that's the thing. I wasn't ripping hate off of this particular tank with my opener. I was catching up to him one minute later into fights where my quelling would still be on CD, which is something else entirely. And purely because he would drop tank stance after like 2 emnity combos at the start and refused to turn it back on even when the other two DPS are literally about to overtake him later. D:

Although I guess if it matters, it may just be a quirk of the tank being a Dark Knight, of which I'm aware their primary DPS rotation doesn't really involve any skills that generate emnity, while it appears that Paladin and Warrior does (though to an extent for the latter, Warriors tell me it's bad to use Butcher's Block combo as off-tank and default to just spamming Storm's Eye combo, which is only barely weaker but constantly reapplies maim/slashing debuff. BUT this is a 4-man dungeon we're talking about here where off-tanks don't exist, so...).

But unless he was undergeared, with a powerful opener, he shouldn't have been losing hate, especially if he was actively Dark Arts-ing his Souleaters and Carve and Spit. I wonder if he Dark Arts+Power Slashed, or if it was just a naked Power Slash. Some DRKs don't understand the boost DA gives Power Slash. So he must have been doing something wrong. O.o

Pretty much what the others have said, it doesn't actually generate agro since it's a shield. The only part of it that generates hate is the initial heal. The issue is you probably have an tank that won't wait 3 seconds to let the heal portion hit them before pulling. I generally have tanks that do this so rather than adlo before pulls, I try to do it just at the end of the previous pull. Either way, it allows them to establish initial agro without recieving a heal, if done right.

Then again, I had one tank who I'm pretty sure was just a jerk. At a boss, before pull, I got a 7k crit adlo on him and deployment tactic'd it to the entire group. And he stood there. And stood there. Until it ran out. And then pulled. >_____>

I never really could get into ArcheAge. I liked the whole concept of the game but... Eeeeeeeh.

My brother is practicing healer, while I'm trying to cap scripture. So he and I and two friends go do expert. One tank death because my brother tried to get out of CS, but was stuck in it weirdly. Ah well, no big deal. No other issues. Then we decide to go trials. Final Steps of Faith. LOL.

My brother was so mad. He's only ever tanked it. And, I've only ever healed it. So now he's healing, I'm dpsing, and our friend is (still) WAR tanking.

First go round, we wipe due to low dps and scattered focus on the adds. Regroup, and we finish the fight.

As bard (which is NOT my main by a long shot)...I was second on dps. Behind my friend in savage gear.

And ahead of the BLM. Who, over the course of the fight, got three Battle-Voiced Foe Req.

How does that even happen?

They are casting too late. There is latency to deal with: all the other players on your screen are actually ahead of where you can see them. The scholar may see their adloquium landing before the tank hits anything, but the server sees it as after. I generally try to get the galvanize up right as the last mob in the previous pack dies to avoid this.

I have also pulled mobs by turning on eye for an eye while we're all running. It's a buff, and generates a tiny amount of enmity. If the tank has only body pulled, this will result in a lot of attention from the mobs. If the tank has hit all the mobs with something, a buff won't do enough to pull off of him.

This also annoys me.

Did my leveling roulette on WHM, and got temple of qarn normal. Ok fine, no probs. Until we get to the golem boss, and the tank doesn't bother to hit the guardian at all until the soulstone's killed so the ninja was tanking it the whole first bit. Then knocks me back into the wall stunning me, the tank pulls him nearish me for some reason, he does his aoe stomp followed by his big triangle aoe thing in my direction. All of that happened pretty fast and I was unable to get a heal off, and unable to get out of the triangle aoe since it was against the wall where I was standing and I die. It was just one of those shitstorm of things that happens, whatever. Not mad.. but I DID get a little annoyed at the summoner who then didn't res me, and instead just kept barely dpsing away. He dies about 30 seconds or so after I do, and then it's the tank and the ninja. The tank dies, boss at like 5%, and the ninja LBs and wins with like, 20% health left or something. Overall a success, so I probably shouldn't be annoyed, but I hate when people refuse to use utility because "its not their job". >:/

My first rant !

Casually farming lights for my 3rd anima, dps was great, everything was smooth.
2 players finish their weapon so we set up a PF, 2 ninja join, we get back in. "Yay ! double trick attack" I thought.

I notice the memo bonus, "well free memos can't hurt."

We proceed to faust, then the boss.

I'm expecting trick attack at pull. "Hmm no trick attack, maybe they had to refresh huton first".

10s pass, 20, 40....

No trick attack at all. With 2 ninjas in the party.

And don't get me started on their rotation... this was really sad to see. I ended up leaving this party after trying to ask for trick attack, without any answer (I suspect they didn't even know what it was...)

I ran into a sprout scholar wearing the Songbird outfit in Brayflox's Longstop.

I didn't think much of it until the tank ended up dying on the third pull (They were barely hanging on for the first two, but the raincatcher was too much), then noticed how small their heals were compared to a usual healer while they were struggling to keep me alive.

It turned out they were wearing the actual Songbird outfit instead of glamour due to not being 50. They initially insisted their lack of functional armor wasn't the problem and that they somehow "got silenced" despite none of the enemies in the initial trash pulls having that status effect (To my knowledge, at least). After me and the tank pressured them enough, they eventually claimed they didn't have any actual healing armor on hand and insisted that it would be fine, then refused to take any further action until we eventually kicked them.

I'd like to believe they were trolling instead of actually being that dumb.

My party had a Rouge! Not even a sprout.

So first trash goes fine hardly had to heal anything.
First boss time. I notice the rouge is lagging behind the pack...
Alliance B pulls, he gets locked out... Could of been a simple emergency, benefit of the doubt given.
next set of trash, no issues.
Boss 2. Same thing happens...
So now I think ok its a leech... can't kick as Loot needs to be rolled on, and/or in battle. (you guessed it the rouge wasn't rolling)
So this continues all the way to Diabolos.
Now as luck would have it, we wiped on Hollow and the loot timed out. before i even click the party menu, vote kick comes up. and passes just as quickly.

Id say even futher than that I have healed as a summoner in qarn level 35 dungeon before no healer, cutters cry you could do with 3 people. Id say not until like stone vigil to av that you need all four. But then it starts back up again with wanderers palace can be three man and so on

just another Expert where I kindly asked a brd to play foe. ( i was WHM, other DPS SMN...and we both did really nice dps,far more than the brd anyway).

Nope, just offline on the spot. we couldnt votekick right away...so we finished our business and he still wasnt back by then, so I think we can most likely assume that he did that on purpose.

I can only hope and pray that my karma is not gonna go down the drain from hurting someone's feelings over asking him to push a button.
It isnt the first time I've seen this happening either....BRD's suddenly turning butthurt by d/cing or taking penalty over being asked to play their songs.

if you play brd cos you only wanna dps, then AT LEAST bring the big deeps...and if you cant even do that, then at least HELP ME/US carrying YOU, you lazy #!)/&(/§!?%.

So yes, you fellow Bards better freaking sing, because what else is the MP going to be used for anyway? Unless your co-DPS is so bad at mobbing that you're going to need Paeon to keep your TP to carry all of the mobbing yourself, or there's a Holy-spamming WHM and somehow things still aren't exploding fast enough.

(My FC mates are kinda trolls when it comes to hunts. Hmm, and I can't really hear my own voice in the recordings, hm. ._.)

And now begins our story, of the warrior who can't keep aggro, the monk and dragoon who can't stay connected, and the wall the healer wanted to throw herself off of because of it.

It started off pretty rough, the tank tried to speed pull but couldn't because he was paper, I thought at first maybe it was his gear. Then I notice he's not in defiance... so pretty much everyone's tanking at least one thing, me included. We get to the boss, still no defiance, the monk and dragoon both end up dying because they end up with boss aggro. I've not said anything until this point, because the tank keeps speed pulling and because he's squishy, I haven't had time to between heal spamming. I tell him to turn defiance on, he does and the rest of that boss goes fine. I do notice the monk and dragoon both getting the disconnect symbols over there heads though for a few seconds at a time, but they at that point were able to stay connected. Everything was better until the last trash pull, where the dragoon completely DC'd, and the monk had a good 30 second lag spike. So the tank's running around in circles with that last huge pull on him, trying to avoid getting hit until they're back to kill it. Monk's connection catches up, we kill the trash and he tells us the dragoon's logging back in. So we wait.

Griffin time! The tank does MAYBE one aggro combo on the boss and switches to deliverance. AGGRO HOT POTATO TIME! First the monk, who gets smooshed, so I res him. Then the dragoon gets flatted almost immediately after. Griffin starts doing his half room thing, so I don't have time to hard res the dragoon and then I get restraint collar'd. The monk DCs while the dragoon's dead, I'm in a restraint collar, but its ok because the tank's at least got aggro, even if he doesn't hit the collar once. I die, we wipe. We run back, waiting on the monk to log back in. He gets online, still has to release because he died, but the tank decides to start passive aggressively ready check spamming. The monk wasn't even back to the party and he had done at least 3.

Griffin, take 2! Guess who goes into deliverance and loses aggro? DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER! And a loser, considering the boss smooshed the monk. This time I tell the tank to just leave defiance on. Does he listen? Does this sound like a run with someone who makes sense and uses logic? Pshhhh. I spent the rest of that fight, babysitting the monk and dragoon who keep getting aggro and praying my restraint collar will die in time. If I could throw my character off the wall at the end and die, I would have.

So, rant time.

I finally decide to stop being a scaredy cat healer about healing 24 mans, Dun Scaith in particular, and queue up for it, with the bf as DRG for moral support. Now, this was my very first 24 man as healer, and my first run of Dun Scaith. I was terrified I'd screw up and get raged at, but, gotta suck it up and get it over with at some point, right?

My god, was I right to be scared. Not for the possibility of nastiness from other players however. I should have been afraid of my co-healer. This WHM just... ugh. The chic was literal dead weight. I think I saw Medica II once the ENTIRE raid. >.< Not expecting this, though of course I should have (it is after all the way almost every single trial I've done has been), I go into Nocturnal on seeing a WHM. I'm thinking 'whew, she'll main heal and I can get a feel for things and just throw out shields and support'. Ha ha ha ha. Yeah, Nope.

I noticed soon enough that people were not being healed, so meh, did my best with my shields and heals to keep everyone going. Minimal deaths, not too bad all the way through Ferdiad and Proto Ultima. Still, I figure best to switch to Diurnal, cause clearly regens were needed. And honestly, I don't have that much experience using Nocturnal.

Scathach and Diabolos; here was where my nightmare truly began. Picture yourself in my shoes; with most of your alliance dead, desperately trying to get everyone back up and to follow mechanics you can't entirely pay attention to, Because of All the Freaking Dead People! Why were all these people dead you ask? Because Miss WHM was... idk, examining her belly button or something. I'm a pretty decent healer, but solo healing this stuff? It's not in my skill list. At least not yet. ;P

I won't go overboard with details that are honestly getting fuzzy now, but the big finish? My alliance (A) was dead, our tank was the main tank, and when she went down, everytime I got raised, Diabolos smacked me into pancake. Finally, after several raises from the lovely healers of B and C, I manage to get the MT back up before I get killed again, and she manages to inflict a fatal dot on Diabolos. All alliances were dead at this point, expecting a wipe just as I was, I'm sure. But surprise! Achievement pops, Hell is Finally Over.

1 comm. 1. After at least a half hour of solid hell healing. :< I never expect comms, ofc, but it would be nice if more people were able to notice who is actually doing what during a raid.

Anyway, big shout out and thank yous to the wonderful healers of alliances B and C! Thank you for sending those raises my way. :)

Yikes! Nothing like throwing yourself in the deep end there :P

My experiences with that place are pretty varied, I've gotten a bunch that do very little other than DPS, if anything at all, and I've had a few that surprised me with how much they were doing just because I'm so used to the lazies. I just did a dun scaith after reset (I go in as sch) and the other healer in my party was also a sch. This usually leads to an internal groan as half the time that this happens, the other scholar sit in cleric 90% of the time and dps. I was surprised to see this guy, not only NOT do that, but was actually utilizing all of our arsenal to make our jobs easier. It was probably one of the only times in raids I've seen another scholar using deployment tactics and indominability. I swear most I run into forget they have them. As soon as the last boss died, I was like "omg thank you for not being lazy ;__;". Also, props to our party's tank who was MTing the run. The other SCH and I would try to get a crit adlo before bosses and whoever got one, deployed it, and as soon as we did, the tank pulled. He never wasted it. I swear, I'm now ruined for all other dun scaith runs. :<

She was a bad co-healer for sure but typically, I've always been told if it's a WHM and Noct AST, the Noct AST is usually the main healer and the WHM is the offhealer. With noct stance, I think you have more healing potency.

After the buff Nocturnal Sect got, yes, I do believe they are more potent than a WHM. However, I think both healers should try to pull their weight, finding some balance between healing and DPSing. If there was a bunch of AOE damage going out, it shouldn't be that hard for a WHM to drop cleric and cast, at the least, Medica II. I can cast my shields to negate some further incoming damage while they cast Medica II for a small burst heal, and some passive heals over time. Working together to heal and contribute DPS is more effective than just forcing one healer to stick to healing because the other can't be arsed to apply simple regens.

I actually had a similar run to Raven's. I was Noct AST and my co-healer was a WHM. Our tank decided to MT and the cohealer couldn't even be bothered to give him a Regen the majority of the run; the regens he got were from a Diurnal AST in another alliance. They never used their AOE heals, and they helped raise maybe once or twice because at one point during Diabolos Hollow, the only people up in our alliance were me, the MT, and the WHM. No LB3 because we had an LB happy melee in the group. So they had to actually help while I kept the MT up with shields and any Boles I could draw/enhance. Worst part, the WHM wasn't really actively DPSing all that much. Their MP stayed pretty full.

I don't mind solo-healing some times, and I can solo heal Dun Scaith with my shields (or regens) any day. But when I'm having to carry the other healer's weight as well, and they can't even be bothered to Regen the MT, it gets a little annoying. If Raven and I weren't on different data centers, I would wonder if we'd gotten the same healer.

I also left that group with one comm. Probably from the tank, and not any of the DPS I had to raise the entire raid (I have never seen people stand in so much crap...one NIN died 10 times throughout the raid, and no, they weren't new).
