So my downloads usually take a month for fresh install, losing connection and crappy dsl infrastructure and all that.
Tried to get SE to extend my Subscription because it will literally take a month to download. around under a gig on average per day.
Not that the internet is slow, just that it's not doing what it's supposed to. ike when it downloads 2 gigs and loses connection, it doesnt pick up from where it left off.

Long story to another long story... This is a new ps4 slim, bought the 30 subs for downloading only and had countless issues for the 1st week, so around 15gig downloaded but still stuck on full patch downloading.
Had a chat with the support, no joy. Took the console to my brother since its better speeds and then not close and basically spent the weekend there. Game was done literally over night.

Played most the time I was there, since I want to enter the world of Ishgard, like 3 missions away... packed up to come home as I would normally do once every 2 months spent there.

Find the thread and at least I'm glad I'm not the only one but we have basically been screwed over. Well I certainly feel I have been.
I've had endless troubles with the PC version years ago, that I stopped playing. Then I decided to try it out on Ps4 and OMG, the sH!T doesn't end.

I had a dream that I would just be playing this game in peace, with no worry and full of joy. It seems that even that has become just that, a dream.

I can't do a backup of the game, since I have a smaller HDD than my ps4 I could maybe use but this seems like it's waaaaay to much effort. I'm really considering my life is worth waiting and wasting on such stupid mistakes that cannot be reimbursed.

I take this to be like a big EFF you from SE to us.

-Yeah I'm pissed the F#$% off koz since the last time I played was in january only to get a new console since then and now there's more F$#%ing problems.

Just cuz it's a problem that maybe only Sony can fix does not mean its there problem this was caused from SB, SE is at fault they lack quality testing on ps4 they got no fcking clue what's wrong so they pass the hot potato to Sony hoping they can resolve it and it feels like they are trying sweep this under the rug like it ain't there problen

I totally agree with you putting all the blame on SONY while they acting all innocent is just ridiculous ,a game must adjust to a console not the other way around and I think SONY is just tired of releasing system update to fix this stupid game.

My thoughts exactly. I'll be staying at my uncle's house for the entire summer, that's why I took my PS4 Pro with me. And I've been literally dreaming about the expansion for a really long while, thinking that the only thing I would do during the summer is play this fantastic game, which I stopped playing like a year ago, since I figured it would not be worth the subscription fee anymore. But then they announced the expansion, I bought the complete edition for my PS4 (former PC player here). And here we go. I received the game safe and sound though there's no possible way for me to get started. I spent 2 full days trying to download it with a non-stable 5 mbps connection. It threw me errors each time at around the first 1.5-2 gigs, can't really remember the exact numbers now. Not to mention I had to take my PS4 to a friend who lives nearby on his day-off to be able to download the game. And when I finally manage to get everything working, I see this topic. Now I can't even turn on my PS4 since I know a blackout is likely to happen everyday in this region and also I won't be able to make a visit to my friend's house anymore.

You know what, it has already been 10 long days without me powering on my PS4, hence not being able to play the game, and my subscription is being wasted on this nonsense.

Please don't get me wrong, as my intentions are only to point out that I am only one person among many, suffering from this inevitable fate. I understand and respect the work you are putting into this game. But please stop taking this lightly and give us some detailed information about the steps being taken about the issue.

And lastly, I believe you should know better but, we'll be needing a compensation for our lost days of subscription.

Sorry if this was a little harsh. But it was necessary.

Yup, not buying the "it's Sony's problem" angle at all. Unless you want to tell me that a bunch of Sony devs implemented, coded, and created the launcher for SE's own game. Whatever bug that's in the launcher probably existed before anyone from Sony even got their hands on the executable. And this problem did not exist before, does not exist for other games (give me verifiable proof that other games right now have a similar issue), and there's no Sony PS4 update that can explain the bug either. This problem existed for a week before the most recent PS4 system update and the system update before that one was weeks before SB early access even started. Brownouts happened during that period and we did not have this issue then, so it can't be that update either.

I think it's a pretty measured response mostly. Some people hate having to wait hours, maybe even days depending on internet connection and power stability, for literally no reason at all. If that download took more than 12 hours for me, I'd probably not have resubbed this month myself. I'm luckily in a pretty decent area and have a decent connection so it's only a couple of hours. But still, it's garbage that this is happening. Even with an APC (that I obtained literally due to just this bug) I get nervous whenever it's really hot outside or if there's a storm in the area, knowing that 1 second of power failure could mean hours of re-downloading useless data.

this needs to be fixed I have pretty fast internet and it downloads it in about 2 hours but we have had power outages now 4 times in 2 days and I have downloaded the game 4 times ... I don't get a load of time to play as it is so this is very annoying ...

Has happened to me twice. It would be really nice if ps4 wouldn't throttle my download speeds. I have fiber optic internet and it still takes forever because I can only use a fraction of that speed.

Add me to the list of casualties, though this is actually the third time it's happened to me. I hate forums and normally would never post to one, but this is getting out of hand. Though I take a little solace in knowing that I am not alone in this, this thread proves that this issue cannot be ignored, as several others seem to be in worse places than myself with download times and the like. Though, given how people on here can't seem to decide whether to blame SE or Sony for what is clearly some sort of incompatibilty issue between the products of the two, I doubt too many posts here have done much more than to alert SE of this issue and give them a number for estimation and record keeping, my own included. That said, these posts have shed some insight on this we as players can do to potentially circumvent this, for which I am thankful.

This was happening to me too, where I live theres a lot of power outages.

I know this isnt the solution because its a problem either SE or Sony has to solve, but I advice you guys to get an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and connect your PS4 to it, so it doesnt suffer further on from power outages.

Following up -

We just had our second brown out, but it looks like the UPS did it's job. The power dropped for only about a second, but it was enough to kick off our router. What I did was immediately log out - it threw a connection error a few times b/c lmao there's no internet to connect to the server - then once backed out of the log in, closed the application and shut down my PS4. Rebooted with thankfully no issue.

So seconding AxecOrtz- if your main concern in regards to this happening is power outages, I would recommend getting a UPS if it's viable. Definitely not a solution, but it might prevent the issue in some situations (though according to others in this thread, not all).

SE I'm a player of 4 years since B.Ver beta.. Seriously fix this problem my girlfriend and I had a power outage and we both have to download a combined approx 45Gig.. This is such a waste of download for a problem that should have been solved a month ago.. You cant point the fingers at Sony ether this problem never accrued before the expansion came to be and I do not see Sony's name at all on your launcher, its your problem and you gotta fix it before people start thinking about jumping ship.. I ain't one of those players but if you don't fix this problem people will.

I just had a power outage in the middle of a dungeon after waiting 30+ minutes in the queue...and sure enough, I have to redownload all of the patch data, 22.75 GB. Fortunately I have a fast connection, but it's still taking 1-2 hours. And my power has been cut 3 times in the last month. I have no idea why, it's completely random and always at different times, for no apparent weather-related reasons. :( Please fix, SE.

July 2nd and still not fixed.

Keep in mind this is an international issue and people may have data plans that will not work with this continued problem going on over 2 weeks now.

22.7 gig download going on the 3rd time I live in the rual where it takes 25 hours to download also only isp charges by the gig ........gonna be a big bill coming I see........SIGH

I am also having issues with this. Every time I have a power surge or a lower outage I have to re-download the game. It takes about 10-35 hours to re-download it.

This is the 2nd time this has happened.

I was also met with it saying, unable to download when it was finished.

Two weeks. 87 pages. 860+ posts in total. A recap. No other game than ffxiv is effected by these issues. Im tired of it happening when it didn't with ARR or HW. The help ticket gave me bupkis. They had the notice up for a day then moved it and are giving us nothing else. Many of us have spent "days" downloading and can barely play cause we live in rural areas. Im not buying more game time. SE may have lost a few players already but im joining them until this issue stops. I'll try and keep redownloading just to wear out the game time I still have lest but after those days are gone... No more. I'll re-sub only when I know 22gb wont be waiting for me at the end of every power blink.

i wake up, start to play the game and i am hit with a 22.7gb download, RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT AND USED A 60 DAY TIME CARD!

i get 10gb downloaded after 5 hours and the updater gives me an error code and restarts, i log back in and the full 22.7gb download is back again. i am unable to download the full 22.7gb because the damn launcher keeps crashing randomly.

and of course..Final Fantasy XIV on PS4 does not update LIKE A NORMAL F*CKING GAME, so i have to keep the game running to update (unlike a normal game that just adds the patch file to the downloads list) i am beyond pissed off right now. 60$ for an expansion i cannot play, 30$ for 60 days of game time i will not be able to fully use and now i have to stare at a patch screen for 15 hours, hoping that it does not error (hint, it will)

EDIT: i did not have any power issues, normally i leave the PS4 Pro in stand by mode but last night i decided to turn the thing off completely. The system turned off normally and is working perfectly, the ONLY issue is with FINAL FANTASY XIV which leads me to believe it is YOUR FAULT Square..i want a REFUND OF MY GAME TIME! for YOUR ERROR

We need a refund for all time we spent downloading the patch it took 5 days for me x@ for all launcher error I got

Redownloading 22.7gb would not be the end of the world, but i keep getting an error code randomly while it downloads the patch, everytime it errors, the 22.7gb patch starts again like i didnt even download any of it.

Same thing happened today here. Square Enix said Sony is investigating the issue, but how come FFXIV never had that issue before Stormblood? The way the game updates on ps4 is stupid too, it's the same as PC, and we can't have a backup of an individual game either. I'm done with it now. I had to redownload during maintenance before early access because of that "CE-xxxxx error". Now again because of power outage, and apparently I won't be able to even turn my PS4 off until this is fixed. I'm getting the game on PC now and hope I can get a refund on PS4 if this issue isn't fixed soon.

Thing is, i should not have to do all these work arounds. i come from an age where THE GAME WORKS....i download it, it installs and works...end of story.

if this is not fixed by tomorrow morning, my bank will be getting a call and a lot of nice charge backs will be coming to Square Enix (Stormblood, server transfer and a 60$ time card ) yea it will probably cause my account to be banned but at this point..i do not care.

Try 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.3, 4.2.2.4, and/or 4.2.2.5

If ur download gets an error message do not press ok close the game from outside the launcher re open and it should pick up were it left off

I had this problem second time again and without loosing any connection or shutting down the ps4 pro not properly , I don't know what is going on i never had this problem with my other games online , I still can see my files about 67GB in my storage ps4 but when i open the launcher it will downloading the patch again from the first step.

Hope everything will b sorted out soon , Because we all work hard in our real life to spend money on the game that we love to play and getting this 22GB download again making us loose days from the days that we paid for and subscribe.

Same thing here! i usually leave the PS4 pro in rest mode but last night i wanted to download some PS3 games so i turned the PS4 pro off using the controller. Nothing went wrong and the thing turned off normally. Next thing i know, i need to keep downloading a 22.7gb patch that like to error out and forget it was downloaded. My FFXIV folder is stuck at 69.09gb, even while downloading this patch, the number does not increase.

My question is why don't they give us access to the file so we can save it and hot patch it when we want to play .....in still only half way downloaded .....14 hours later ......
