I like what someone on Reddit said. AST got insane damage and a high potency, MP free heal. SCH got a crit buff. WHM got flowers for their grave.

Hmmm....
I am out of the loop atm.
But what I'm reading here sounds concerning.
I prefer AST's aesthetics anyway...
But, I'd rather everything be as balanced as possible.
Going to have to look into the changes myself.
You know what I really like? Out of all of this? That SE considers a pure healer someone that spams Cure for it's benefits.
We speculated on so much things that could have benefited WHM even without utility, and all this time SE was simply planning to make us spam Cure spells like idiots for even more heals, or for a Stoneskin that's actually not even stronger than our original Stoneskin in 2.0.
It's really just sad. All around it's sad. What really drives everything home is that AST heals more than them in diuarnal. How is this even a thing? Why is that happening? It doesn't make any sense at all honestly. It feels like WHM was the last job they got to and everyone was tired so they just gave them anything.

Not sure if Skyrior is serious this time but to be honest we won't truly be able to measure this kind of thing until the 16th
Please tell me its really May the 30th and the Embargo has not been yet lifted... please tell me this is all just a bad dream and were going to wake up....
please...
While its possible that changes were made since the footage was taken (its been sat on for a bit), I would not expect any changes beyond number/potency adjustments to happen before launch. Typically when game devs settle on an iteration of something, they aren't keen on making changes based on outcry before players have actually played with the changes. And even in cases of a public test server where players actually can test upcoming changes, game devs still very often roll them out anyway regardless of the feedback given. This isn't done maliciously or as a flagrant disregard for feedback but rather they prefer to see how their iteration plays in a live environment with a much bigger sample size. Once they see how their iteration is actually playing out, they determine if previous concerns mentioned in feedback warrant a closer look and possible adjustment.
I would not hold my breath on any adjustments till 4.1, or if things turn out really bad maybe sooner. I don't think WHM will hurt bad enough early on for the devs to make changes prior to 4.1 however. It's when people are at max level doing max level content, and especially static raiding, where the devs will get the metrics that show players moving away from actually playing WHM in that content. If the devs see a sizeable migration of healers away from WHM to AST/SCH, they will ask why (even though we've been telling them all through the HW meta), and look to make changes.
Is WHM screwed again, did DRK become the next PLD, find out on the next episode of Dragon ball z
RNG could work if it wasn't designed like this. Say a certain proc would reset the duration for Regen or something, that would work fine as a mechanic.
Making your AoE heal, mitigation, and MP management depend on RNG is quite frankly stupid. It's like they don't even know how WHM is played. Even Cure-spamming WHM count their GCD to land the heals at the right time, nobody just spams it to get procs.
WHM as a job will probably survive for dungeons since they nerfed SCH AoE into the ground, but two wrongs don't make a right.
play a better healer my dude
WHM preview looked fine to me. For me I think the lilly system is really interesting. You do use cure 1 and 2 a lot on the tank so you can make use of it for sure.
I am sure Medica 2 and regen will still be enough for most of the healing in 4.0 content and that's just what I am going to do. =p
At least DRK's will have plenty of salt now for Salted Earth.
Agreed, boycotting WHM over this... not that I really feel like I would even have as much fun playing it with these changes vs. a SCH or AST, or hell, even a 3.x WHM.
These changes should be case study in how to kill a job.
While yes, that's true as things may be subject to change... take a watch of this and listen to his thoughts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-R45pkv-Bo
It's almost as if the same team that designed the crafter "whistle" system designed the Stormblood system for White Mage. The only thing we're missing is a buff to reduce Benediction cooldown by 10 seconds when Lilies and Confession stacks equal the same number.

Even he says here that WHM's shield is less than what the tanks themselves are capable of doing. This is from someone who has *played* all the jobs in Stormblood at level 70.
From the very beginning of V2.0, Cure-Cure II was WHM's core mechanic, otherwise it would not have "free Cure II" and "half cost Cure III" attached to it.
But it seems like the dps-whm's who are upset with this change were just spamming regen instead of Cure, and use Medica II constantly so they have more time to DPS and make the the tank work harder in the process. Maybe this works for some raiders, but I figure these are just raiders who scream "DPS or Kick"
Please, SE, listen to your player base and fix WHM before June 16.
Highlighting that part because it's especially telling. A few possibilities come to mind:
1. SE has not been paying attention to how players actually do WHM.
2. SE has been paying attention to the playstyle of the worst WHMs.
3. SE intends that WHMs will desperately need to cast Cure and Cure II due to how mechanics work in 4.0 content.
I would like to think that they have a grand plan and know something the rest of us do not as to why this will work, but my money is on them drawing up a new WHM mechanic with the lowest-common-denominator WHM firmly in mind. Basically, for anyone who spammed Cure to the extent that Freecure actually made a frequent and measurable difference for them, this Lily crap will be right up their alley.
I guess SE wants us to remove medica and medica II from our hotbars so we have more time to accumulate rng flowers, the new beast of whm: MP [unsurprisingly, once again]
I was expecting really useful skill like a quelling strikes for heals that would allow me to cast medica II and cure III while allowing the off tank to properly pick up an add (like in a11s after the dps photon), or another regen with long cd to allow me to dps for like 30 secs without worrying making it like a rotation between heals and dps, or a short timed max hp increasing buff to save the party when heavy aoe is coming and the off healer is dead... things like that (thin air surpassed my expectations btw, I was expecting a 50% mp reduction).
The lilies system doesn't seem to be very useful. and we aren't bards, we dont spam our heal cds. we use them wen we need them. The lilies are there so MAYBE we get a cd reduction that MAYBE will save a dps or tank. nothing else. It just doesn't make any sense.
And i'm dissapointed about the idea of sacrificing old useful skills to have new ones. T.T
White Mage saw a drastic reduction is usage throughout Creator; half as many players cleared with it relative to the previous tiers. The trickle down effect impacted it noticeably. This only stands to get worse given the enormous backlash. In casual content, it won't matter but you are far more likely to see people mandating Astro/Sch in pug groups now.
SE: We're gonna punch WHMs in the face and give AST a back massage.
People who don't play WHM: C'mon guys, just wait and see! It won't hurt THAT bad!
Oh, you're assuming anyone's gonna run with DRK!
Oh heaven forbid people look at the tooltips and go "oh, hey this heal over time is way, way more efficient than overhealing with my basic healing spell. Now, what to do with all this free time since the tank isn't dying... hm..."
This is gonna be so awesome. WHM healing potency is gonna go through the roof. Every 8 man encounter is gonna be like the good'ol days PLD/WHM and 6 dps. Im so excited for the new whm changes.
