wether you ackowledge her or not, there are others in your community who still do what he did, and thats still a problem, they may not be as public with it as often, but they still do it

as ive said, i have no issues with roleplaying in general, just dont be attention whores about it and then get all butthurt when people get upset about it

If your uncles a total douche should your whole family be represented as one? especially if your cousin decided to be one too? Believe me I am not butt-hurt, nor seeking attention. I am trying to follow a thread that I am quite in support of. That's why the majority of us are following it. were just waiting for actual points vs fighting. With that I end my ranting of you and await further postings before I too, derail off the subject at hand.

I don't think I want an RP server.

Because I know friends who won't come with me to an RP server. I also like to do non-RP things too, and some people take their RP way too seriously that I need to chill out with the non-RPing good pals for fun times.

I'd much prefer what it's looking like now. (Besaid + Another Server => one server).

That is ridiculous. Of course there are members who associate themselves with our community who do not act in a desirable manner. There are members of any community who do not act in a manner most befitting the majority of that community. Socially we call those people outcasts. You can not rally for support based off the actions of one outcast, not can you label an entire community's behavior based upon that one individual. Have you been listening to ANYTHING the opposing argument has been saying?

Rather than try to force the Role Playing community to fess up or take responsibility for the actions of one or two individuals who associate themselves with us, why not focus your displeasure towards those particular individuals and leave the rest of us to discuss the PURPOSE for this thread?

You sir(madam) have a problem with Spammers NOT Role Players...at least THAT is what the MAJORITY of your posts seem to relay.

There is a lot to be said for actually reading the points of others before making your own, as not to appear uninformed of the discussion.

Don't feed the trolls, guys. Foxbat assumes way too much about what RPers want, and what they can or can't do without understanding the behavior he dislikes so much. Maybe if people who hate RP in public actually understood why it cannot be done in a /party or /linkshell, they may at least understand it. And I agree with a previous poster (sorry, at work so I can't go and take too much time pulling specific quotes) who said that /say and /shout are used way more frequently by Non-RPers, yet there is no outrage about them being inconsiderate of others.

The IC post was great. An amazing way to illustrate what someone who tries to RP and actually stay in character goes through.

I also don't fully understand why "I hate public RP chat = NO RP SERVER FOR YOU" ... I mean besides the fact that it's 2012 and the idea that not everyone is on board for this is already worrisome, especially if they are RPers themselves. Although, reading Aveline's post, I agree with her on the end result of wanting a nice community over all, but to me that would be more likely to happen on an RP friendly server than not.

If the dislike for public RP is at a critical point for you where you simply cannot play with it, hey - there will still be 9 other worlds for you to go to. Even if you're an RPer, and for some reason none of the OOC chatter gets to you but IC chatter does, to that degree, there is always that option. But I honestly DON'T think it's a big issue even for those who are bothered by it. I've still yet to receive an explanation how OOC chatter doesn't bother anyone and IC does.

I think trolls who dislike RPers use the 'public RP' as an excuse just so we don't get a server, where every other MMO has at least one. And RPers who dislike 'public RP' really seem to dislike larger parts of the RP community in general, and because of this, do not want to feel separated from their OOC world. I just hope they realize that typically even RP servers have tons of Non-RPers, who are generally nicer to RPers. Heck I even heard that many purely end-game groups go to RP servers just to avoid extra competition on regular servers.

While it may seem that 'public RP' is a topic related to having a server labeled as RP friendly, it's really not. Like I said before, this thread is meant to get SE to reply with regards to an earlier claim made about RP servers. I understand that it's easy to get swopped up in a discussion, but I feel like we should remain more on focus, and not let the trolls who wont be convinced otherwise anyway, distract us from our goal.

Honestly, OOC shouts (the spammy ones, and the rude, vulgar ones - not the ones seeking a party) drive me nuts, but I don't go around harassing people about it or asking them to stop. O.o

I think it's incredibly rude to even think of asking a role-player to stop using /say or /shout or to move to another area. Role-players don't deserve any less than everyone else. We have the same rights. Imagine you're sitting in town chatting with friends about something you saw on tv.. then someone comes up and asks you to go away or shut up (even politely, it's still rude) because they don't want to hear it. You weren't spamming, or being rude.. you were just having a normal conversation.
Really, why play a game with other people if people bother you so much?

Anyways... on topic.. I really would love it if SE suggested a role-play server. Nothing would change but more role-players coming in and more haters going out. There would be no new rules.. We would just have more people with common interests to play the game with.

Since I have no personal desire to RP I +1 the OP. RP is simply not for me and I would prefer to not be involved but I would like them to have a place to have their fun.

The funny thing is if they were to implement such for role players. There would be non role players that for the sake of being a jerk harass the RP players. In a way it's RPing the RP players...LOL

i wish they would make a casual player and a elite server too lol

One of the crowning ironies of this thread is all the RP naysayers claiming they support the "normal" RPers and only hate the "bad" RPers yet they roll in here with universally aimed trolls like "RPists" - a term admitted by its foremost proponent to be invented solely to deride roleplayers. If they only have a problem with the "bad" RPers, why the hell are they picking a fight with ALL RPers? Not to mention, here's the funniest part: They accuse US of not reading posts thoroughly, having fragmented reasoning, and attention whoring while doing those very things themselves!

Seriously people, I'm with Oskar. Don't feed the trolls. If their arguments can't even support themselves, don't grant them false legitimacy by taking them seriously. I haven't seen anything new brought up over the course of the past several pages, at this point we're just sort of riding the rephrase merry-go-round.
