^This. And on top of that, the more you gear up, the less those points matter. Maybe it those stats were percentage boosts, rather than a flat amount, there would be something to talk about. But given that its not, that conversation doesn't matter. Especially since it has nothing to do with what the poster said. Even though I disagree totally with the poster.

The differences in race stats between players is absolutely negligible to the point where it essentially doesn't matter. Implying that this was the cause of a wipe implies that every player was operating a 100% efficiency (perfection) and couldn't meet the check.

The reality is that is likely not the case and the loss from the impact of missing a dot refresh, forgetting a buff, messing up a rotation, and so on is infinitely more applicable than racial stats as these things happen all the time. People make mistakes. You cannot assert perfection in a vaccum and then blame stats for a wipe.

Reading guides on rotation suggestions doesn't tell you anything about how you're actually performing in real time in a dungeon/raid setting.

Researching and collecting information is one thing, putting it into practice is something else entirely. There are also quite a few fights that require adjustments to your rotation or rely on adapting to situations - all different from what you typically see on "how to play x" guides.

It also doesn't help you if you're not the one who's underperforming. You could be the best player in the world but that won't help you much if someone else decides to ignore half of their rotation.

I agree, I think its only fair that PS4 users get the same treatment as PC users. so it is a good idea to have some kind of dps measurement on PS4. Good post btw, and I support this.

One of the reasons why I'm baffled at why they're going for a half-assed "solution" by going for the Dummy Parser is a very close variation to this.

Let's take for example a BLM fully decked out in Esoterics Gear who can do a whopping 1.5k DPS on a dummy.

Now the BLM goes into a dungeon and gets called out by someone using a 3rd party parser which shows that the BLM is underperforming (whether on purpose or because they aren't used to the fight).

BLM goes on to quote Dummy Parse numbers which are pretty irrelevant to the situation at hand in which the damage the BLM is dealing might not be as high as he thinks it could be.

The difference between a good dps and an exceptional one is being able to dish out the same or close to the same amount of DPS as their Dummy Parses when they are doing mechanics/dodging.

A dummy parser alone will not be able to do that.

Haven't seen anyone banned ONLY for having used a parser. Have seen many banned for HARASSMENT though.

There is no official parser for PC or Playstation so asking for the same treatment for PS4 players isn't accurate. Those using 3rd party software are technically breaking the TOS. I'm all for personal parsers and for the option to opt out of a group parser if that is the choice of the individual.

I didn't say anything about banning someone but it's clear that they are unofficial and against the terms of service. Whether or not someone has been banned or not I can't say. That is up to SE to enforce and not me given I certainly don't work for SE and am not privy to that type of information.

As I mentioned earlier, there needs to be some way to measure costs vs ROI. That is irrelevant if SE decides to take the "moral highroad", so to speak. You can't measure the cost of possibly providing a negative environment for their game, if that's their concern. As in, it doesn't matter how much they could make if the value of maintaining a certain boundary within the game environment is more important to them.

As has been brought up multiple times in this thread, that's never been SE's reasoning. All of the interviews where they're asked about it, their concerns are about their software interacting with 3rd party software.

Ironic saying that players who parse have no sense on improvement when optimization came FROM parsing on which abilities in certain orders and at certain times increased overall DPS. Not to mention all these guides/threads that you Anti Parsing crowd keep pointing to for one to learn a class came from parsing, so I have no idea why you keep going back to that.
