Ok got really annoyed today in Aurum Vale lol. I got in progress. The tank its running around everywhere when I port in and the healer is pulling stuff. So we die a few times because the healer seems to be DPSing more instead of healing, etc. But it's a scholar. o.O So we finally beat the last boss and this happens.

yea protect totally does nothing...you don't need it as a healer. lol

Sometimes, you run Dun Scaith and the likes, give it your all, dont get loot, dont get commendations and youre just like "bleh" cos you gotta run it again.

and sometimes...everything goes picture perfect, you get exactly the loot you came in for and your efforts obviously got appreciated.

i've been doing potd since yesterday trying to grind my blm to 60 and get the 255 weapon by the time i hit it, and doing that, you see a lot of strange groups, but the one that really took the cake was my 2nd to last one on floors 61-70.

We're all doing just fine, nobody talks much, but it's potd so what else would you expect? We're over half done, and i casually mention how i need 1 more arms to be able to grab my 255 weapon, and that i'll be 60 when we finish as well.

Then, i decide to stray from the path after we've cleared the exit, because we have one room undiscovered yet and i wanted to see if there was a silver chest, it wasn't all the way out of the way, just two rooms over, and i was there and back to the exit within 10 seconds, and then the one of them casually asks me "Hey, what is italy shaped like?" Seeing where this was going, i sarcastically answered with " a glove" and then another said "close."

and then i was kicked.

Im about 90% sure those two were together, because i ran into both of them outside in the in-between area between floor sets.

i filed a report against them for vote kick abuse, and a GM contacted me and we went over what happened, and they said they would review the evidence and take appropriate action against them. Vengeance is sweet.

They were on my server, and i did contemplate some vigilante justice (ruining their reputation on the server), but i decided to go through the proper channels. Im pretty sure one of them had a little crown next to their name too, if they did, it's probably not for much longer.

If they hadn't decided to be cocky about it, i wouldn't have known what how or why, and probably wouldn't have gone to the trouble of filing a report.

Well...just got removed from a leveling roulette and called an elitist because I said, "Hey -sprout tank-, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this to you yet, but you should be using VIT accessories. It'll up your damage and help you hold hate better. :)"

Ahhh yes. We must protect the innocent from learning and improving. Lord in heaven, you probably hurt his feelings and he unsubbed.

I don't particularly enjoy playing WHM, because it's a rather boring job to me. At its core, it's all about massive amounts of healing and DPSing. No mitigation, nothing. So I much prefer playing SCH and AST.

That said, I still know how to play WHM. It's boring, but it's also the easiest of all 3 healer jobs to get the hang of. Slap some regens on the tank, turn on Cleric Stance, DPS, turn off Cleric Stance, heal the tank, reapply regens, rinse, repeat.

I simply cannot understand, for the life of me, how someone can get to Heavensward content playing as a WHM and still not understand these basics of the job. Trying to DPS without Cleric Stance, because turning it on and off is clearly too much work. Never once using Divine Seal or Shroud of Saints, because those are clearly for chumps. Conservation of MP? What does that even mean? Take another pointless, unnecessary, unprocced Cure III and shut up! Or just standing around spamming Medica when the PLD is the only one taking damage, and struggling to keep aggro in the first place because it's a low level dungeon and they don't even have Sword Oath.

It's my job as a DPS to deal damage, so I killed a sword, provided a space for the party to move to, and I would be able to stay still to deal damage and not take damage at the same time. I don't see how I'm in the wrong when no one died outside of the MCH "lagging".

I'm just gonna say that I'm not stupid, I always manipulate with that mechanic after a cast, but I didn't see the reason to stop what I was doing, move to the middle and deal damage again. While, yes, it would have been the middle sword, which might I add had two people on it as opposed to me taking it down as a solo DPS, I didn't see a reason to if I could clear the one closest to me (within the AOE's range) and provide a safe space to everyone way faster than the two in the middle. Sorry, I just don't get this logic of crapping on me when I did my job???

This makes sense, I can see where you're coming from, maybe next time I'll just do the middle one and deal with the loss of damage if it ever occurs. I usually just kill one on the side because it means less movement if the tank opts to stay there, guess I should've just done the middle one if the tank was so adamant about it.

It is your fault for only watching out for yourself and not working with the rest of your party.

Went into neverreap as dragoon to farm for armour, as I'd done dozens of times before, (seriously, that dragoon armour won't drop lol) and had no problems at all. I join, say hello as usual, and all's going well.

We defeat the first boss, and suddenly, poof, I'm kicked. For what? Surely not 'difference in playstyle' as I was doing the exact same thing as the other dragoon. I didn't die, and I certainly didn't pull anything. Not a word was spoken either. No warning. Just gone. Sheesh. Couldn't help but notice the dragoon and healer were from the same server. Friends maybe? Perhaps they didn't want competition for armour? Who knows... Oh well. At least I managed to open the chest before I vanished. Pity it wasn't dragoon armour. :/

Yeah, I'm definitely going to agree that killing whichever sword you decide is easiest for you to do instead of doing the mechanic in the way that people are expecting without any communication is not a justified vent. Basically, you're venting that people aren't mind readers and aren't instantly adjusting on the fly to suit someone else unexpectedly doing the mechanic in the way that is different from the usual way. If you communicated this beforehand and they agreed to attempt it that way then your vent might have a leg to stand on, but as it is the 'my way or the highway' attitude in the face of what is the normal way of doing it is what is coming across as worthy of being vented about here to be honest.

Just a note, you can actually avoid quite a bit of downtime during that phase by careful positioning. E.g. Place yourself between the boss and the middle sword which results in you facing the sword and facing away from the boss. Usually this means standing on top of the tank since they run the boss over to the middle sword and are between them. You can also plan ahead for this, since you'll know which direction the tank is going to run from. Setting it up this way means you can completely ignore flash powder since you're already facing away from him. As an added bonus, most of the time this will also place you in a position where if you get the red knockback marker it will punt you only a short way in the surrounding aoe rather than right to the edge of the arena, since it has to punt you through most of the middle. This ends up resulting in much less movement between casts to put you in the safe area again.

They probably wanted to farm the first chest and/or boss and didn't want to take the penalty. Kicking you allows them to leave and restart immediately.

Sadly that's everyone first instinct when they are told what they're doing wrong >.< Only time I said that and it actually didn't cause a huge backlash was when I was telling a ninja that he should use his dots on the boss, they even apologized and started doing the dots, it's a miracle lol.

This is more a PF thing, but it might as well be DF.

Joined an A9S learn group, since I've had that on farm for eons, and figured I'd help out. There actually weren't that many new people in there, and I wasn't the only vet to join. Both of the tanks had raid/relic weapons, and one of the other dps was well versed in the fight. It was going smooth until a bard dc'd and one of the DPS went healer to take their place. A new member or two later, and things resume. The new healer was a bit fresh to the fight but was picking it up rapidly.

A handful of pulls later, everyone's used to their new positions and worked synergy out and was ready to roll, and out of nowhere, there's a botched pull. The DPS comp was DRG, NIN, BLM, SMN, and for whatever reason, I was the only one to start attacking the first set of mobs. I usually just chuck a Dragonfire Dive and a Geirskogul aimed at the boss in their direction and move on, but this time I had to start doom spiking them because the party just seemed to forget about them. It was too late to stop the wipe, and just as I'm about the remind the party that those guys needed to be aoe'd down real good, the SMN has quit and disbanded the party.

Well shit man, I don't know what to tell you. That party would have easily cleared in a few more pulls, and at worst case, by the end of the lockout. But hey. Can't help those who won't help themselves.

lol can second that, i was there. He left and disbanded immediately. whats funny is tht i joined another a9s learning party immediatley after and that same ninja joined too and we cleared in 3 wipes lol. People give up too easy.

Lol one of my more annoying runs was in Aurum Vale...

The Tank was someone who apparently played SMN too at some point... and I made the stupid mistake of saying...
Hey there guys, this is my first time in this dungeon so be patient with me... apparently he mistook that as first dungeon run EVER... and confused it with first time playing a SMN.

So right off the bat... he said... theres a lot of mobs that come at you all at once... so be careful. So I whip out Garuda, thinking I'll go with the AoE pet. And use Contagion for extended AoE DoTs.

Tank: Why are you using Garuda?
Me: Well once you said there were going to be a lot of mobs, so I went Garuda
Tank: Well I prefer Ifrit myself.
Me: Well ok then Ifrit it is.... *poof* Ifrit comes out.

First pull I send in Ifrit, and cast the standard Bio, Miasma, Bio 2.... then hit Bane... then step in and throw out Miasma 2 and begin spamming Bliz 2 (spamming this adds about 25% more damage on top of your ticking DoT AoEs).

Tank: Dude don't use Bliz 2 it costs too much MP.
Me: It is MP intensive... but when you have a lot of Mobs... it adds a lot of damage.
Tank: Look I know you're new at this but Trust me.

I'm thinking.... well I've done this procedure in every dungeon up to this point to put out large DPS with lots of mobs... but hey... if he wants less DPS that's cool... erm I guess...

Tank: What you do is. Throw up Bio2, Miasma, then Bio. And then use Bane...
Me: (Thinking)... errm yeah... already did that... but I guess you missed it.

Next pull I still step in and throw up Miasma 2 on top of the stacked DoTs and BANE I'm usually running... and boom we wipe... I was like what? Apparently the Healer was having connection problems and kept DCing... I laugh a bit and get back to the dungeon. Then he starts in again.

Tank: Yeah you don't need to use Miasma 2, its just a waste of MP, it doesn't do any real damage at all. And it takes too long to run up to the Front line.
Me: (Thinking) Hmm well I admit its pretty low but I'm nickel and diming every bit of DPS I can to squeeze it out... but whatever... if you don't want DPS... from a DPS job... that's cool...

Already at this point I'm thinking... if this guy was an SMN... he wasn't a very good one... Probably needs to stay a tank...

....but I kept having to put up with this noise the whole run.

First boss we made it through, but I had to Raise the WHM, and step in to heal briefly... usually this is a bad sign for the run when I'm having to Res the Whm already... but what the heck. We Make it to the last boss and then all hell breaks loose. Healer DCs in the middle of the fight, dies again, the other DPS face plants soon after... so I'm desperately trying to keep the tank alive with heals, but its a losing battle. Then we get adds, he screams use Limit Break, and for my part I didn't see the message because I was so focused on healing him... and he drops like a stone.

Second time at the Boss, healer goes down again, this time I Raise real fast... and have to once again fill in for healer briefly... (not my favorite run at this point)

I got done with this one going... ok... my tolerance level has been exceeded... no more dungeons for the day.

What's worse is the reason I mentioned it was because hate was a huge problem and they were dropping quickly and our healer was constantly running out of MP. I could tell by the way they were playing that they were putting in an effort and trying. I also forgot to mention that it wasn't even the tank getting upset. It was the other DPS. Regardless, still a funny story.

I've been a summoner since 2.0 and there are some instances where Ifrit can shine quite well but honestly I've always found Garuda to be more beneficial, granted it is mainly due to her Contagion ability. Set up your dots on a primary target, contagion them up and spread em around and it is lovely <3. (Least as far as the 50 rotation goes) I do occasionally throw in Miasma II as well if I'm within a position to do so, I do wish to a degree that the duration was longer or potency was a little bit higher. Yeah I agree, Garuda has its uses and time and place. I've gotten a lot of use out of Garuda depending on what I need to do, the extended DoTs portion is excellent, and his wind attack is another AoE I can throw on top of it. Ifrit really just requires less Micromanagement and doesn't have that little component.

I have found what Bliz 2 is great for is, a supplimental DoT +CC.

Because of Aetherflow and Lifesteal I never have run out of MP. But I too don't put stock in it as a primary dealer unless I'm doing a level 15 Sash as a Summoner where you have absolutely nothing else at that level to contribute. Really I consider it a damage supplement.

My DoTs stacked at level 50 and iLVL70 were doing 360-380 per tick, and adding Bliz 2 for 110 damage per target on top of it makes it around 500 damage per tick AoE... not including pet damage.

Its been about that much percentage of the damage I do throughout the levels as more a component for more DoT power when stacked with everything else...

That said....... I agree with you, that I don't see how I can sustain Bliz 2 in the rotation at the highest levels especially once you get Painflare and Deathwyrm Trance and the whole 9 yards....... It will be a nightmare trying to squeeze all of that in considering how many different things you'll have to cast. So likely I see Bliz 2 falling off the radar and likely off my bar too about then

In other news just did a Sohm Al expert run, was another summoner as the 2nd dps. Not had that combo in the long time, the dots, so many dots. I loved it <3

Though this other summoner was at least to me using Dreadwyrm trance at really odd times and losing quite a few seconds out of it, like before the 2nd boss encounter started :c Think of the lost Ruin III's! D: But other than that, things just melted into goop.

I got a second bard for my daily level 60 roulette - they werent terrible, mind you, even if they were dealing less damage than I did. So I checked their gear - about the same ilvl than mine, specifically the weapon: ilvl260 relic. I always like to creep on how others decided to spend their stat-points and was met with some horror here: They had spend points on EVERYTHING, including parry. The only stat close to the cap was speed; accuracy, det and crit all had like 40 points with 7 spend on parry for some reason.

I considered telling them about how you can change points later, but figured that a person with a relic like that might also be a person who doesnt want to hear "That relic is crap"

God this

I was basically solo healing a8 yesterday because the WHM was not reacting correctly or actually using their full skillset.

It took them 10 seconds of standing still before they decided to hardcast a raise on me after someone flubbed a mechanic and killed me. And then they only cast cure/cure 2

When someone confronted them about their incompetence, they simply responded with "this isn't my main". How do you make it from 1-60 without realizing you have more than two or three buttons to press. They never cast assize, medica, medica 2, asylum, stoneskin 2, shroud, tetra, benediction, or anything else other than cure, cure 2, and raise. They did have swiftcast, this much i noticed, but they rarely used it.

Which is why you report it as abusive behavior. It's an abuse of the vote-kick system.

I fell off the platform twice in Titan NM earlier. I haven't had a problem with that trial in months, I'm not sure if I was having latency problems or just genuinely sucking that hard.

I think it has a lot to do with your party's pace. I will use Dreadwyrm on that last mob pretty often and still have time for everything to be off of cool down before entering the 2nd boss. I think that is where the real skill comes in. Being able to determine when to use certain actions so they are off of cool down for when you really need them.

Had an encounter with an odd BRD.

Queued for Level 50 roulette and got Wanderer's Palace HM.

I was on SCH and my boyfriend was on tank, load in protect etc everyone starts moving.

First pull went okay, bit slow maybe, but don't matter.

Second pull and I notice the BRD only ran up halfway then stopped, so they went AFK or typing or who knows. We had about 6 mobs on us since my BF trusts me with double pulls. We just continue to kill them best we can with 1 dps and some SCH bane. I eventually call out to the BRD asking if they are coming, since we are taking awhile without their help and they finally start moving and caught up when the mobs are almost dead.

I really don't like it when people AFK without saying anything but, whatever, it was only once so far and I completely understand that it happens sometimes so we keep going.

We get to the first boss, do a ready check and everyone clicked yes so my BF pulls the boss.

I was standing pretty close to the BRD so I saw them attacking as normal at pull, but a little bit into the fight I notice they have stopped using abilities and is now only auto attacking for around 20 seconds, then they used maybe two abilities and then they are only auto attacking again and this time they never moved or used any abilities after that all the way until we wiped.

The boss was spawning those exploding fire spears on the ground that you have to kill and honestly as a SCH my ability to kill those quickly sucks and while the other DPS was on point trying to help we are having them explode because the BRD is just sitting AFK auto attacking the boss.

This is the second time so I call out in chat to the BRD again, a bit irritated by this point, and say something like "BRD? We need your help, you can't keep AFKing without telling us and if you need to AFK for some reason you have to tell your group"

I typed it fast but then I had to go back to healing and trying to help kill the exploding fire spears; eventually the boss spawns two of them and with the ones before that exploding we had too many stacks and each exploded once or twice and the boss went berserk started charging around and we all wiped.

We all hit return to beginning the bard still dead for 5-10 more seconds before they hit return. Whole time in there never got a response from the bard even once. I asked if they are going to stop AFKing or at least tell us if they need to AFK but no answer and they just kept running to boss.

We got to the boss line again and still no response or any apology for essentially wiping us or for just sitting there auto attacking while the rest of the group was actually trying to do their jobs. Normally I don't care if people don't chat in this game, but considering we just wiped on the first boss and they are AFKing or whatever during a boss fight and not doing their part I decided to not bother giving them a third chance and we gave up and kicked the BRD out.

I just don't get why people will not only waste other people's time but also actively waste their own. So confusing.

I think it might have been tbh, I have to assume his 3 stacks were about to run out so it was either use or or lose it. He did get a few hits out before Deathflare :D

Or also I think he thought the tank was gonna jump on the boss sooner because on the mobs before the boss, he hit 3 stacks on the last mob to die, but as soon as we walked to the boss line he engaged the trance but the tank didn't start the fight right away. Which cost him a few ruin III's, not a big deal really.

It was a bot.
The guy was an ass.
Guy was playing on console and for whatever reason didn't have a keyboard/something to type at all so couldn't say anything so even if something was happening with em irl you wouldn't be able to know.
The guy really didn't care and was hoping to be carried.
Guy didn't speak english and didn't understand what was being said, but even then there are ways around that.

I was running Dun Scaith as a SCH the other day and my AST co-healer kept giving me all their arrows because they were upset the two SMNs in the party weren't helping with res-ing at all, not even when both of us got killed by other people being dumb with Nox.

They gave me the arrow again after we cleared too. Odd run.

Queued for leveling with a friend on AST yesterday because I was tired of tanking (working on DRK relic, 3rd tank relic) and we got a DRK and BRD working on their 170 animated relics in the Vault. Was a little sad bc I said "it's gonna be the Vault and I'll be sad bc I won't get light as an AST..." which did happen. T_T We had a great party though. The BRD played foes for me at almost every pull and I got a little risky with letting the tank get low. At one point they even used Living Dead. But I never let anyone die and we got through everything very fast. Those Foes bolstered Gravity spams. *_*

Um... you do get light in all HW content except maps and Aquapolis. Doesn't have to be level 60 as long as it's a HW duty.

Sometimes when I feel like a potato coming back from college these wonderful stories always lighten up my mood.:'D

I know that. :) I queued on AST. I am on the light step for DRK. I predicted that I'd get a HW duty and wouldn't be able to take advantage of it because I was running AST, and that's exactly what happened.

Was levelling an alt last week and running DF for the daily bonus. I'm working on LNC at level 19 with my wife levelling THM and get Tam Tara. Tank is a MRD(Sprout) and healer is CNJ. Should be an easy run.... CNJ is not new and asks MRD for big pulls. WE are both good with whatever works for the tank but he doesn't reply. The CNJ asks him a few more times before he finally answers in "Say" not Group chat that he will. I immediately mark him as a new to the game player based on that alone. WE all let him set the pace and pull, which turns out to be single targets... Yes, no rotation through the other two which meant my wife could not AOE and the CNJ was picking up aggro any time she cast a heal. So I started grabbing the extras and tanking them for him to keep them off the casters. Luckily the CNJ understood what I was doing and proceeded to keep me up as well. In between mobs I tried speaking to the MRD about making sure to grab all the enemies in the group and about the Overpower attack that hits all the enemies in a cone. No response. I also wanted to tell him about how to chat in the group channel and stuff but he seemed pretty set on just pulling and squishing things one at a time and not talking. The CNJ had it figured out and kept me alive for the rest of the run as i kept aggro on everything else. I thanked the CNJ at the end and commed them for a great job. MRD left without a word.

For the MRD, if you read this, it wasn't a horrible run and there is a lot to learn if you are really new to the game beyond just how each class works and which abilities do what. Please ask others in game if needed as there are many out there who can help you in a positive manner. ^_^ Never give up! Never surrender!

I was doing The Vault for my Monk anima weapon. Greetings were exchanged from the start, nothing in between, and a butthurt attitude to the finish.
We were at the final boss and we were doing our thing. We got the boss down to 6% HP. The LB was 5% from being level 2 LB.
I use LB and drop the boss' HP to 3%, or just low enough to let the boss live for 5 more seconds, and we continue till the job is done.

Then the Machinist pipes up and says, "and thats why we dont lb the 2 boss".

I'm like, "???". And they're like, "if you don't understand, stop playing it, noob."

Thinking back on this, I think the Machinist was butthurt about the LB not reaching level 2 or that it didn't finish off the boss in one hit. Perhaps they were butthurt because they didn't get to use it?
In the end, this Machinist was petty asf. What do you guys think?

Even though you as the Monk on a boss, your LB imo should have a bigger priority as it does more damage with it being a single target strike.

Looking back at the Machinist's half coherent sentence, I'm more inclined to believe that the Machinist was more pissy about LB not being level 2 and not finishing off the boss with it.

Sometimes when DPS in a raid is FAT (loads of damage being pumped out, trash mobs and bosses melting quickly), I use LB for ghits and siggles when the boss is 5% HP as healer. :rolleyes:
