No. One of my members had a chemistry bonus that would be active if a pugilist were in the group (when I have no pugilists). That bonus is still not active even when I have mission affinity. It did, however change another member's 15% Str boost into a 30% Str boost, and would have changed another member's 10% chance at a Defense item drop into a 100% chance. But both of those had the requirement met.

When you meet both the mission affinity and the chemistry boost requirement, the chemistry boost section of the window will state that it's boosted by the affinity, and that fact goes in place of listing what the normal chemistry requirement is. But the normal requirement does still need to be met. If it's not met, the normal chemistry statement appears grayed out and inactive.

I'm looking at it right now. "When accompanying an archer" and "When accompanying a lancer" are active despite not having those squadron members present. Not only that, but the wording changes and doesn't even mention a requirement. It simply says "As mission affinity is at maximum."

Well, even when you get the "As mission affinity is at maximum" with one character, other characters may not get their bonuses. Something else is going on. Maybe it looks at your entire 8-man squad rather than the 4 you're sending or something. (In the case where I saw chemistry not being met even with affinity, it was looking for a class I don't have in my squad at all with either the active or inactive members.) Do you have an archer and lancer among your other squad members, the ones not assigned to the mission?

I do. And previously I didn't have a second archer, but I'm pretty sure it was still active, so if that's the case, it seems it even counts itself.

Got same THM 5 times ROG 4 times and LNC 3 times.... while i only need one more CNJ for full dreamteam of 2x MRD 2x CNJ 2x ARC + 1x GLD and 1x ACN with this setup you should only need to focus on just one stat when training.

I see people talking about going with 2 of each extremes and 2 more balanced classes - am I going to face problems if go with like 2 Conjurers, 2 tanks (MRD/GLD) and 4 different damage dealers?

Not really. You might want to consider changing one of the CNJ to a different caster, but you should be fine either way. I was using 2 CNJs for some of my missions until I replaced one with a different caster.

Ok, I think I've figured out the source of my earlier confusion. I was wrong about who had affinity. Although all the chemistry conditions I've seen refer to who you're grouped with, affinity is applied to specific characters only.

I had thought that when it says, for example, "Mission Affinity: Lalafell, Conjurer" that that meant my group as a whole had affinity for that mission if the squad included one or more Lalafells and one or more Conjurers. But no, it actually means that just the lalafells and conjurers in the group have the affinity bonus boosting their chemistry bonus.

Once I figured that part out, your earlier claim fits. For the members with affinity, it can ignore the usual condition for chemistry bonuses. I'd thought it didn't because I'd run a mission where the members with affinity happened to be the same ones that would have met their usual conditions anyway, and I'd mistakenly thought the whole group had affinity.

Thanks for checking it out. I had made that mistake myself at first until I saw that the boost was only applied to those who actually matched it.
