While I agree by Stome Vigil you should probably not be 10 ilvls behind the dungeon (at the very least upgrade your weapon) that's all really immature of them.

Competence matters far more than gear, I'd take a good player with poor gear over an average player with BiS any day.

I'm right there with you. You should always try to hit the appropriate ilvl when entering a dungeon. I did end up getting higher level head gear in that dungeon and equipped it as soon as I got my hands on it if that makes it any better.

Here's actually a funny story I had.

Qed into Mentor rou as a sam, got an immediate join party in progress that had gone on for about 27 min. It was the Burn and the moment I zone in I hear the SB boss theme. So I'm thinking "Ah probably just messing up with the fog plumes. Nothing too crazy". I take the shortcut and start running throwing a o/ in the chat to say hi. I then notice that there's only another dps here and they say something on the lines of "What happened here?". I explain that I just joined and then learn from them that they had also qed in and the moment they joined two of the other people who were in the party immediately left leaving just them.

So it's just two dps at the final boss just waiting for the other people to q in and little by little we have a party formed and ready to go. Fought the boss had little issues and were done in almost 5 minutes. Was probably the best rewarding mentor rou I ever had.

So last night I healed Aery for the FT as AST. Oh boy.

1) lala tank chimed in said he had done the dungeon before and no worries.
2) Both dps ft in Aery....yikes but hey its cool
3) Tank does small pulls 2 or three enemies at a time doesn't put tank stance on till half through....I burned through some mp quick(ewer was my best friend)
4) we manage to get to Nidhogg and let the "failure to communicate" games begin

i have tank this dung numerous times and very rarely had any issues but this tank was driving me nuts. moved all over kept yelling everyone where to position doesn't hold agro...geez really the main purpose of your job.
Then sable price was put on me. No one came to help we wipe. Nobody says anything. Second attempt tank says to stay at far end of map. Of course that doesn't work if im out of range to heal.
We get to the adds spawning. dps could not seemingly kill any adds so i burned all mp keeping npc alive.
Nidhogg begins the AoE i just barely miss getting inside shield we wipe....really
third attempt tank leaves, we get a drk that was amazing. No wipes no one died got through rather easily.

Cant say this enough - tanks who bark out orders who are under geared make everyone work twice as hard especially healer. ilv for tank was the minimum...woohoo?

He was basically telling me to piss off to buy gear, which I wasn't okay with. I assured him that I had done runs of the stone vigil on my BRD before and that my damage output and use of my support abilities never caused any issues for the rest of the party in my current gear. The healer leaves at this point, because the tank wasn't moving and the tank follows suit soon after. Leaving me with one last jab.

"Im going to leave too entirely bc of you. go buy gear. do not expect other ppl to carry you"

That's a good tank, but rather than leaving he should have kicked you and your level 16 hat.

You can easily carry one undergeared or stupid dps.

That being said, no matter how well you play, you will always be better with better gear. Good gameplay and good gear are not mutually exclusive and taking a detour to the vendor while queuing or when heading back to the city to sell stuff/ send retainers on missions isn't exactly an insane amount of extra work. There are enough reasons for a quick detour to a city, buying new gear for a few slots is just a few extra clicks.
Good and experienced players profit most of all from keeping their gear up to date.

But nonetheless, his last reaction was really childish. Could've handled that much better.
You can't expect people to heed your advice when you hand it out in a condescending tone.

Oh pshaw. He was no less rude or condescending than the person that showed up for group content in a level 16 hat.

Whether it can be carried or not is immaterial; it's rude to present yourself to a party in that state.

Tank with ilvl405 Eureka weapon and full ilvl390 Eureka Armor +2, no tank stance, could not hold hate against a lvl 69 DPS, died multiple times to the 2nd boss of the lvl 69 Leveling dungeon since he doesnt know the mechanic, does not use provoke so healer kept dying lol. Oh and he hand a mentor symbol on xD.

Honestly, I couldn't even be mad about it. I was a mixture of shocked, amused, and confused. I was really wanting to know what happened to make them take over an hour in the Aery, but no one told me what happened when I asked.
