Orbonne Monastery it was just a bad run in general my group was dying left and right our Healers weren't even trying to make use of thier tool kits and instead were spaming benefic and cure II like it was going out of style, Constant Rezzing instead. Group B wasnt doing so hot Either but then things got beyond snarky after the first Cid Wipe Our healer decided to get even mouthier than Bs healer and started cussing and name flinging between the two. Yes our DPS was low but we managed I think that's because almost nobody knew thier rotation even when trying to follow the mechanics people were dropping like flies because the second healer wasn't even trying just constant benefic finally after the third wipe I had had more than enough of the healers bickering and name calling and left it's not that I didnt want to complete the run it was I just couldnt handle the explosive toxicity that was happening on the chat it was bad. like real bad.

Almost everyone wanted to level as many combat jobs as possible. If you were just really unlucky, you could reach lvl 68 without ANY drops from previous dungeons. And because vendor NQ item are worse in most cases, augmented shire gear was decent enough.
I've leveled multiple jobs on 2 chars on mostly shire gear (270) - the first few dungeons with STR accessories on tanks, lol! - and even in Doma Castle, I've had barely any problems. I've healed tanks - and whole parties - in 260, while being 270 myself. I tanked Castrum Abania in mostly 270 (tho with VIT accessories ofc :P), and those healers had 270, too. We got through this without any huge problems, despite the fact that this content was new to us - and learned that things can hit harder than in the Vault with 130 gear.
I've out-dps'ed max-geared-synced DPS player in Bardam, could heal tanks in Doma and still sqeeze in an Aero III or Holy, and tanked the last boss in Castrum Abania with proper CD-usage.
The fact that your tank has aggro issues isn't based on their gear, but clearly because they don't know their job/role well enough. During the first few patches in SB tanks recieved increased enmity generation. I didn't had any problem keeping aggro in tank stance on day 1, but if this tank still does have issues a few weeks before ShB... even gear wouldn't be able to compensate that.
Your tank might've been unlucky to get Doma Castle through roulette, which might be the reason why they're 270 on almost every slot.
imo as long as they upgrade at crucial tiers (50/60/70) it's not bad. They could've been on 200 AR gear...
edit: we still need a min iLvl requirement for leveling dungeons, especially after SE "fixed" them by droping gear for your job. -

Today on our regular show of weekly Orbonne Shenanigans,I met a paladin that let me tank Ultima on the second phase as a monk for a solid 15 to 20 seconds before I died.
The tanks from the other alliances were dead and he refused to provoke or generate even the smallest amount of aggro(in fact he was at the bottom of our alliance's aggro list)
His reasoning,and I quote: "My wife who plays SCH didn't want me to".
I was ready to facepalm on my controller from how infuriatingly dumb this was,it ain't the first time I ran into a husband+wife combo of Tank and healer but unlike the sweet ones you meet sometimes those two are one of the worst
It's times like this where I'm glad Monk has Fist of Earth stance cuz this is the third time within last week and this one where I had to become a Red Tank(last time on Garuda EX where I pulled one of the sisters away cuz the off tank wouldn't do it)
Sure I won't survive a tankbuster but at least I'd survive long enough to make up for a tank's incompetency -

Did Bardam's Mettle with my partner to help me level DRG and got a WAR that liked to do big pulls but somehow couldn't manage to keep themselves alive, even when the healer was doing his best. When they died to a group of 8 enemies or so, they blamed me for not AoEing enough. I just really don't have time to explain why 10 enemies having 5% health do more damage in total than 5 at 50%. If they die because I'm not doing enough AoE damage, then I'm pretty sure the problem lies with them, not me.
I never understand why wipes are always the fault of anyone except the tank. -

These tanks are the ones that will do obscene pulls then proceed to stand and not pop a single CD to mitigate the incoming swarm of damage that is doing waay more damage in total than the healer is able to compensate for proceed to die and watch as the trainwreck happens. I wont pretend I'm a great tank I'd say about average really striving to improve constantly and learning as I go along so I can do better the next time I get the thing to pop. I love the learning thing.
However because I am an Average Tank I still have little foibles of my own such a quick nip test where I pull a starter pack and see how the group meshes and works before deciding if I'm going to try large pulls or not if the pack takes too long to kill or the healer seems overly absorbed DPSing I'll keep small pulls going on the rest of the run. If the down speed seems decent and the healing is on par I'll pull bigger packs.
I'm not in it for the Comms or anything like that I just believe that a run is more enjoyable if it's smooth rather than jarring night and day differences so players can learn that everyone has to work together. -

Did my Duty Roulette with a friend and ended up in Brayflox's Longstop.
I was a bit under-geared, having just got to level 32 on bard, but it wasn't really an issue as I do update my gear.
Tank was a level 66 Paladin, so I thought it would be a cake walk since they were overgeared, but the tank was a HUGE mess.
First thing they did was pull about 15 mobs, and the poor SCH couldn't do anything but spam heal. When we got to the first boss, they ended up shirking me, to try and make me take aggro, which didn't work. The healer laughed when I asked if the tank shirked me, and I thought that was the end of it.
After the boss, the tank pulls another GIANT trash pack, then used the aggro combo a few times, and shirked me again. This time I got aggro, and ended up dying. Healer was too busy dealing with the tanks giant pull to do anything but heal the tank, and my friend (SMN) revived me, and got super pissed off (in a voice chat, not in game).
After the tank killed me they stopped shirking me when the healer called them out, but they continued to pull huge packs of enemies - even as far as to pulling enemies in the boss rooms and starting them.
The entire time this was happening, the tank was barely DPSing, because they were trying to run through the enemies constantly (I'm guessing trying to avoid them). They did that with the bosses as well, constantly spinning them in a circle.
How does someone who has level +60 in all tank classes end up playing that badly? -

Quick question in reference to some of the posts before me:
I just looked at the iLvl on some of the wikis for level 60 gear. Augmented Shire gear is iLvl 270. Coven weapons are iLvl 280. The lowest level 70 gear is iLvl 290. That's a difference of only 10 iLvl...errr...points.
I'm trying to understand how gear between levels 60 and 70 worked, then. Was I really using an iLvl 273 piece of gear at level 63? Am I missing something? Or is my memory bad?
EDIT: I found my answer. The iLvls for mid-Stormblood gear were really rather bizarre compared to what we have now. I guess the iLvl jump from early level 70 to late level 70 was rather huge.... -
