Elitist Housing Must Go. Every Single Player Should Have A House.

Being able to unlock housing districts should require completion of the necessary expansion's MSQ imo, would instantly stop these FC house abusers who buy up entire wards.


Yes, I understand it might hurt the RP/Venue community a bit but having single people buying up entire wards is a bigger problem.

Hate to break it to you, but you can buy a story skip. And also people like me who literally are crazy enough to go through MSQ on multiple alts. I have 1 partway through EW, 4 in the middle of shb and one finishing up stormblood.
We know months in advance of major housing availability such as the new servers. I have the time to get another character leveled, their fc leveled and through enough MSQ to bid in whatever ward I want. More wards have been more or less inevitable even if they are not often, you can count on it happening.

Your proposed change won't solve anything. EU housing atm I would say is totally fine, there are still hundreds of houses available for players to get if they wish. JP I cannot speak to the state of but I would guess it's also fine. NA has an entire new DC to fill, if players refuse to move it's their choice and they can live with the stiff competition on servers like Balmung.

Halicarnassus : 4072 plots open.
Seraph : 3366 plots open.
Maduin : 4398 plots open.
Marilith : 4449 plots open.

If those who say they want a house refuse to claim one from what's available, then there's no point in arguing against the players who own multiple houses because they're purchasing what no one else would.

I get sorely tempted to start up new FCs on Marilith to get a few more houses. Currently I have no FC houses purchased and maintained by one of my Marilith characters. The house of the FC my characters are in was purchased by a different member who really has no interest in housing himself, he made the entry just to help the FC.

I haven't because I'd rather see other players come to the data center to get a house. But we've also got another 4 worlds getting added later this year that will bring an additional 28,800 houses to Dynamis (or 43,200 if wards 25-30 finally get unlocked for purchase on the New worlds). If others don't show up to start claiming what's available, there's really no reason not to buy multiple houses. Someone needs to make those mostly empty wards look inhabited.

If Marilith wards ever did fill up, I could always relinquish the additional FC houses beyond the one I'm allowed for my service account. I wouldn't have a problem doing that. But until that happened, owning multiple houses on Marilith isn't preventing any other player from getting a house.

This is exactly what's going on. My friends and I have an FC on Maduin we use as a secondary hangout spot, we bought an FC house for it to have a central place because not everyone wants to buy personal housing (heaven forefend!) and we all want somewhere we can hang out together and craft or whatever without standing in the main city states. The entire ward is slowly being filled in with rather clear sub shack owners... why? It's Goblet. It's Maduin. It'd all be sitting empty (as it was for awhile there) except for us otherwise.

So please, do not come kvetching at me about the sub shacks in my ward. It's been a gradual thing going on for many lotto cycles now because no one else wants those houses.

That count includes wards 25-30 which have been added in Dynamis but remain unavailable for bidding. It's still a lot of houses available after you take those wards away though.

So far we need to complete ARR and be rank Second Lieutenant in our GC to buy a house.

Plus more MSQ requirements for Empyreum and Shirogane.

I don't disagree with you but it's also fair to understand that players who are already in established communities wouldn't want to leave them just for the sake of having a house. Not everyone has the option to uproot their entire communities and move to a new server afterall.

Let's take for example the server which I'm on, given how hard it is to obtain a house here given the population, I don't think I'm entirely wrong to say that multi plot owners derive other players from engaging with the housing system by virtue of an actual lack of houses.

It's really something that people think it's okay to simply say 'just move worlds lol!' as if everyone else is as self-centered to have no social connections to the world they're in. Especially coming from those who flagrantly break the plot requirements when they could simply just play literally any other MMO that offers exactly what they want.
