Is dpsing and a healer becoming the standard norm!

Imo its fine if a healer wants just to heal, the only thing that erks me is when a sch just heals and has eos/selene out on sic. Yes while its not required its a drain and waste for those fairys. Thats why we need a dps fairy, for the heal only scholars.

I like how you keep saying healers DPS are insanely high, too massive and you seeing a disgusting number. But if you are looking at holy spam, its been nerfed from 240 to 200 potency and even more in expansion- while monsters kept gaining extra HP, DPS classs gained more DPS power than ever, while healers DPS only went down and now requires melding. Those AoE spells require high MP usage, meaning can't be spammed forever. Healers are healers and DPS 2ndly. Nothing will change that position.

Healers and Tanks are becoming worse because DPS is just much easier to do. Tank DPS got nerfed, and (most, except rich) healers are reaching the accuracy problems.

Nobody wants to play a boring Job. Except, apparently healers who just want to heal. I love that myself, i'd love just to heal. However, my MANA cannot handle constantly healing as much as I can.

Well, yeah, it's high.

I can easily push up to more than 800 dps on an entire expert/60 dungeon. Most dps I meet there barely reach 700. Downtime included for all of of the players.

That just leaves 2 options : healers are superpowerful or Dps are...ya know, "unfocused"

Of course there'll always be some great players, leaving healers far behind in terms of dps, but they are a really small minority.

At the end of the day, whether to dps should be the healers decision and our actual job really is to get through the instance without any deaths (unless this is unavoidable due to mistakes that aren't your fault). I see tanks arguing that they shouldn't need to dps if healers dont, and dps saying they can just be lazier - but these are bad arguments. DPS is a natural extension of a tanks job as it helps with aggro and the only function of a dps - whereas it's harder on healers as we need to stance dance and change targets at a more stressful rate than the non-healers all while also watching health bars and debuffs.

I just came back to the game recently and don't know if anything changes dramatically over the base game, but there are several reasons why I will choose not to dps:

1. I don't know the content or don't remember it well. I'd rather focus on learning the dungeon and the mechanics and keep the group alive than over exert myself with dps and risk deaths.
2. I don't know the tank and their pulling style or how much they can handle. Many tanks I've run with on the level 50 roulette like to pull 4-6 mobs and there really is no time to dps half the time with how fast their health drops. I might be able to stance dance in an Aero but it really isn't worth the extra stress.
3. I have a melee dps or two who gets hit a lot creating two targets to heal and not just the tank.
4. I'm lagging a little. I won't risk the stance dancing.
5. My carpal tunnel is acting up and my hands hurt. In other mmos I play healers or casters with long cast times to help with this and here the global cool down helps. If I just don't feel well enough to do all the extra clicks I won't do them. I can still do my actual job and healed "harder" things like Titan Ex when this was still considered hard but I may not go above and beyond.

I do dps but only when I'm comfortable. I see people arguing that the dungeons are really easy and overgeared. If that's the case I'm sure our actual dps should be able to cover it.

Threads like this make me want to start a static of tank + 2 dps just to ensure kicking lazy healers goes through.

Way to be a douche - starting a static without a healer just so you can judge your pug healers and vote kick them. You could just get a static healer then that lives up to your standards.

That's not enough for an elitist. They have to have everyone else conform to their standards too or their blood pressure can't handle it. They would rather sit in DF vote kicking healers all day rather then just add one they know will play to their standards. Sick huh?

Oh, don't worry. We kick bad tanks and dps, too.

I just don't understand...with how vit accs are set up now there is barely a reason to heal in most dungeons as the tank health barely drops so why not actually use some other skills to make your run more enjoyable and everyone else's run a bit smoother...I haven't played an MMO yet where the only thing a healer can do is heal
