Guys,Guys! I broke my record for the number of glazenuts and seeds from one plot. I did a large plot (4 glazenuts by 2 apricots) that already had 2 apricots growing in it from another patch with 1.5days to go till they harvested. After I harvested those 2 apricots (got Royal Kukuru Seeds because of what was in the previous plot) I planted 2 more Apricots in replacement and fertilized them to catch up with the rest of the crop.
I GOT 4 Glazenuts and 5 Glazenut seeds! from a single patch yay! :p

I may be missing something here, but you still need glazenut seeds from somewhere to keep that glazenut+honey lemon loop going, right? I mean, unless you're getting 8 seeds everytime from the glazenut+apricot harvest, you're going to run out of glazenut seeds pretty quick. You're using 4 seeds for the first step, and then another 4 seeds for the second step, but only one step actually produces glazenut seeds.

Let's say you start with 10 glazenuts and 10 apricots. In a worst-case scenario (4 seeds at each step),

1. Glazenut + Apricot --> 10 glazenuts, 6 apricots
2. Glazenut + Sun Lemon --> 6 glazenuts, 10 apricots
3. Glazenut + Apricot --> 6 glazenuts, 6 apricots

In a best-case scenario (7 seeds at each step),

1. Glazenut + Apricot --> 13 glazenuts, 6 apricots
2. Glazenut + Sun Lemon --> 9 glazenuts, 13 apricots
3. Glazenut + Apricot --> 12 glazenuts, 9 apricots
4. Glazenut + Sun Lemon --> 8 glazenuts, 16 apricots
5. Glazenut + Apricot --> 11 glazenuts, 12 apricots

The self-sustainability point is at 6 seeds per harvest. Granted, I don't have the statistics to say what the distribution of # of seeds is but anecdotal evidence leads me to believe 5-7 is where most beds fall. I've rarely ever gotten 4 seeds from a single bed. It's possible you'll have to break off somewhere to grow apricots from base materials again but you're more likely go continue on indefinitely if you're using Grade 3 Thanalan Soil.

The above best-case loop loses one glazenut each time, so it'll run out of gas eventually. The only way to have a truly self-sustaining plot is to make as many glazenuts as you're putting in. If you're putting in 8 seeds (4 for the glaze+apricot and 4 for the glaze+lemon) and only getting, at best, 7 back (7 from glaze+apricot), then you're going to run out. Granted, it takes while to run out and this is certainly the most efficient use of glazenuts to get more glazenuts, but self-sustaining it is not. The apricot side is self-sustaining, yes, because you're only using 4 apricots but getting 4-7 back.

After 5 steps, you use 20 (4*5 = 20, because math) glazenuts and produce 21 (7*3 = 21, because math) glazenuts. If you factor in the apricot continuously building up, then you can do back-to-back Glazenut + Apricot for even more glazenuts.

That's not the way it works in the long run. Let's draw that loop out to the end:

7. Glazenut + Apricot --> 10 glazenuts, 15 apricots
8. Glazenut + Sun Lemon --> 6 glazenuts, 22 apricots
9. Glazenut + Apricot --> 9 glazenuts, 18 apricots
10. Glazenut + Sun Lemon --> 5 glazenuts, 25 apricots
11. Glazenut + Apricots --> 8 glazenuts, 21 apricots
12. Glazenut + Sun Lemon --> 4 glazenuts, 28 apricots
13. Glazenut + Apricot --> 7 glazenuts, 24 apricots
14. Glazenut + Sun Lemon --> 3 glazenuts, 31 apricots


At this point it breaks down because you only have 3 glazenuts left. However, what you said about back to back glaze+apricots does work! Using the extra apricots you can counter the diminishing glazenuts. I would say insert an extra glazenut+apricot patch ever 4th patch or so and now we truly have a self sustaining glazenut factory.

I didn't think I'd actually have to spell out converting extra apricots into glazenuts because simple logic says that if, at any point, you end up with more than you started with, then you can repeat the cycle from step 1. Despite all your objections, at 6 or 7 seeds per harvest, this loop is, in fact, self-sustaining.

Not sure where you're failing to see what I'm saying. The original loop does not say you need extra glazenut+apricot patches to keep it going. Neither do you. You simply say "do the loop, get the nutz". It's not that simple. You do the loop with diminishing glazenut returns AND you insert additional glazenut+apricots as needed, and now you have a working loop. The conversion of excess apricots to glazenuts is not self-evident, and if you want this loop to work you have to do it.

You're the one who failed to understand simple logic. If, after 5 steps, you ended up with more glazenuts and apricots than you started with, then obviously, you should do the same thing over from step 1. That means, after step 5 which was glazenut + apricot, you should go back to step 1, which is glazenut + apricot. Every full cycle in the best case scenario will yield a net of +1 glazenut and +2 apricots. If you couldn't see that, you need to go back to school.

But whatever, I'm done here. I won't argue with unintelligent people, and I certainly won't be helping any further in this thread.

Well, gee whiz. Hissy fit much? The original loop as stated didn't work. That's the key point here. You need that additional patch after each fifth harvest to keep it going. Or repeating the loop from step 5, and not step 3 as the original loop said. Two different ways of explaining the same process. You never once mentioned that you have to repeat at step 5 instead of step 3 to maintain the glazenuts, you simply pointed out step 5 as some magical place to stop explaining your thought process.
