This event would have been full of win if it was chocobo instead of a dodo in that egg.
:D
At this point everytime one of these events doesnt lead to something amazing it will just be one more reason for people to quit. This game needs something earthshattering and it needs it ASAP.
Then please quit your type of player is not needed go back to wow if you want to play a game and not even read the storyline. You go to the movies to see ppl getting kill and blow up and not even care about the storyline? like really? even if this a joke it's really is a sad one if this is all ffxiv players want is to play and not even understand the lore then get out please lol.
This is so sinister. That secret organization ^^

I'm thinking of writing stories to post on Loadstone about my fun, exciting adventures in Eorzea...available in the Fiction section.
Seriously though, I am all for game lore and the more the better but at least have an NPC in game tell me the story. I need more time-sinks in the game, not on the Loadstone and Forums. I spend too much time here as it is.
Kind of disappointing because of all the speculations (e.g. Gridania's going to get revamped). But I do have to admit this was the first holiday event that involved a fun, multi-step quest. There were more than one or two pieces to collect for all levels and the egg caps are varied and fun to wear. It's a step in the right direction.
Too bad though, as I was reading the story about the egg hatching, I thought it was going to say baby chocobo instead of baby dodo. Would be awesome if this is how they introduced chocobos. Also, at one point I mistakenly thought my chocobo egg cap was giving me increased movement speed! Of course, it was just the zoom perspective, but I wish they'd add hidden effects to the special caps like the +1 event items from XI.
Yeah kind of LAME they built it up, and then nothing. MY guess is the end would usher in patch 1.18 but they realized patch 1.18 was taking much to long. Tis the problem with dynamic lore :P
i dont really understand the dissapointment about the dodo eggs, it was stated in the very beginning that the spriggans were collecting dodo eggs for her to paint. I liked the outcoming specially the last part and i had fun collecting the caps as well. I wish they would mention the name of the writer for this events, would be nice if its miyabi hasegawa again, i really loved the FFXI novels.
its kinda sad, at the beginning people were begging for lore like crazy and now there are people that are seriously too lazy to read the equivalent of one page in a book... i start to lose hope for this "community"
1. People who say what put in bold are not welcomed here, ask around
2. Never played wow in my life, seen others, but i dont like it.
3. I see movies for all kinds of reasons, but I dont play the movie, doesnt matter if its just pure action no story or full on story it has content.
4. I don't care much for the lore, why do i give a monkeys what some NPC grocer thinks of the days? Why do I care about a random guy in the adventure guild who complains about the guards? Why do I care much about the history of Gridania? Its pretty boring. I'm all for a story, but when its exciting.
Where's Tetsuya Nomura when you need him?
I do honestly think its sad where we live in a society that does not want to read, in society where "tl;dr" is used for storylines in games and not just obscenely long forum posts. The U.S. and most of the western world boast 99% literacy ratings, while countries like mexico and many south american countries considered the semi-periphery boast only about a 80%, there are people in this world who wish they could read long walls of text, and we simply give up the right, and created more kids who hate reading, who create more kids who hate reading (i now slippery slope but eff it.) Its just sad when you go to school and talk to kids and more than half claim to "hate reading" and automatically consider older fashion novels and text "boring."
On the other hand, if english is not you native tongue and they don't add support for your language, I can understand why you wouldn't want to read long walls of text. When I read french, i have to break it down sometimes, i just can't tackle it , and in a game setting sometimes there isn't enough time to deduce connotations, especially when its written in somewhat of a cockney accent, or sometimes an old english kind of theme.
Basically promote literacy, and people's desire to read for fun.
well, i'm happy with this piece of lore. I don't play a final fantasy game just for gameplay, and people arguing on this should play something else.
Foremost, this piece of lore is binded with all the shadowy figures and strange events acting in game, so what's the complain ?
ps: for people speaking of revamp of gridania, destruction ecc...this is a damn seasonal event. Something that big would be in a major patch, no ? <_< don't be a fool
So...whats up with the stuff at the end of the entry? Also what is a mind purge?
Read nothing hm ?
The article said the maidens are been purged of all their memory of the hatching (this is the mind purge).
the stuff at the end refear to shadowy figures sometimes pop around the world, speaching of something on the end of the world. It's bound to an event running right now, where strange things happen around the world.

have a lot on infos for you on the current dangens incoming. Quite long, but interesting if you don't take a clue online
Since the easter event is over, when do the fugly hats stop showing up in our profiles?
EDIT: Odd, they keep appearing/reappearing.
i don't see it in your profile right now
I love the idea with the Gridania newspaper. It's like Vana'diel Tribune from FF XI ^^
Oh how I loved the part where the baby dodo crawled out of the egg. :P That was priceless!
Wonderful holiday event - much livelier than the previous, much more unique. And at the same time they tie it up with the upcoming planned events, whatever they might be, keeping me on my toes. Good work.
It has been entertaining, and I look forward to the next.
what is da clues?
lol, you guys, how can you be mad at text, it cost you nothing, pay it no mind. Basically if you find lore to be lame and not worth reading, then do not read it. If you didnt like the conclusion of the event, then realize from that text, it was hardly a conclusion. If this is the mark of special events building up to something and not having no relevance in the game, then i say it was a pretty worthwhile endeavor.
That said, i do think it could have been even better executed if the event had happened in game, we should have been able to see that scene occur, and curse the world with disappointment putting all this type of text online is better than not doing it all, but really more should happen in game.
So yeah im interested to see where all this is going and if it will have any real impact in the actual game. I am surprised by the amount of people who hate a story in their rpgs though.
Every time they post something that isn't patch notes, my health bar drops a little for this game.
