I agree with most of what you said but yes I will until then for the 2.1 patch, hopefully...
so you make a thread and state anyone who plans on subbing is a white knight, this game will be better when you leave two words for you buh bye!
At the moment I'm tending to a "no", though that may change depending on future content, among others PvP. It has its moments, but at the current state at long sight it's not for me personally.
The mechanics are not revolutionary, I've played older games that "feel" more modern, more... sophisticated, in a way. As for the content, I'm usually thoroughly enjoying leveling, but in FFXIV it's a pain. I'm not 50 yet, and I have a hard time bringing myself to play my main, in the hope everything will be better once I get there, but I already know I won't ever be able to go through the motions again for a second class, unless there are serious changes to the leveling mechanics and that is a big handicap for my long term enjoyment.
Sure, I'm subbed already. $48 for 6 months of play time? That's a hard deal to beat. :)
Subscribed yes. Even with all the problems I have a lot of fun playing this game and I consider it worth to give SE a vow of trust. I'm looking forward to the next patches and the fixes they will implement in the game to improve the QoL. If it disappoint me, if they fail to deliver, then and only then I will leave the game.
I'm afraid to trust SE with my money. I had to make a fraud claim when I was double charged pre ordering the game, and now I hear about people having issues when trying to sub. I don't want to have to make my bank investigate charges again. Other than that, I do love the game and the FC I'm with is awesome.. I still haven't made my mind up.
Continuing sub most likely, game has huge value and just feels right, graphics are amazing sound is amazing (best mmorpg music to date), gameplay is repetitive (which mmorpg isn't repetitive?) but fun and you really feel the power of your class (especially blm), also it seems SQEX know what they are doing- always in touch with the community, going for fast content updates and acknowledging problems with promises that they'll be fixed.
Also it got tons of reply value, seeing how you can be any class in the game on same character.
Basically it's the best mmorpg out there right now, nothing comes close value wise to this.
I want to play this game, but if not my obligation to FC I founded, I would boycot by not subbing until they disclose their plans on fixing aoes and change their stance on instant off-gcd mechanics.
However I am subbing as long as there are enough active members in my fc to try and do this broken end game.
I will subscribe and I can't wait for the droves of bored endgamers who swear there is no game here to leave. I've been purposely leveling my toon slow to avoid the initial rush of gogogo'ers. I got completely sick of the attitudes they produce in the last 2 games I was in and want no part of it in this game. So boys, hurry up and leave already. You know there is another new game calling your name. Go go go...
White Knight Excuse Progression

--But, But its open Beta..
--Be, beee patient
--Have you level 18 classes to 50? You haven't then don't say you are bored.
--Have you beat HM titan? Coil???
-- rushing lv50 in two weeks without experiencing the game
--Wait until 2.1!!!
Paying for something worth paying for's a-ok. 15 bucks a month? I spend more than that on lunch quite frequently.
I won't pay five cents for something that isn't worth my time, however. The outrage is that SE didn't really seem to learn anything from FFXI's irrelevant obscurity and XIV 1.0's total washout.
For me, chrissake, I'm starving for an MMO worth my business. I could easily afford to spend hundreds of dollars a month on entertainment, if the entertainment was worth the expenditure. That's the upside of my situation. I might not have 18 hours a day to be a raid starlet, but I probably have the income of a few dozen supah-lee7 players combined.
I bought the digital collector's edition. I don't regret it; the game just doesn't feel like they've released it all yet. Obviously its not 'finished', but as I've said here and elsewhere, the game seems to taper off and largely stop at about level 35-40ish. You largely run out of quests and wind up either farming fates, or dungeons if you prefer and are able; either way, grinding like a Korean.
Maybe they get a kick out of being really farking bored in Korea. Maybe they think it 'proves their worth' in the game and its some sort of 'trial by fire that only the true, the few and the proud can overcome' or some poetic B.S; I honestly don't know. The Korean grind-game appeal makes no sense to me what so ever; none. Zero, Zip, de nadda.
No amount of apologetic proselytizing or defensive white-knightsmanship or fanboy rhetoric will ever convince me of anything, personally. The game will sell itself on my terms, or I won't pay for it.
I don't expect some notion of perfection. I do expect a Final Fantasy game to feel like I'm playing a Final Fantasy game. It stops feeling like that quite entirely roundabout level 35-40, when the grind overtakes everything. This endgame nonsense? Terribly sorry, but I can get this endgame experience...anywhere.
Better, even. I'll go play WoW for my gear treadmill interests; nobody on the market's doing it better than WoW. SWTOR's improving, if you like gear-grind raid games. Still has a ways to go, but if not WoW, I'd go with SWTOR.
This? Yet Another gear treadmill raid game fresh out the gates with all the usual new-game-is-new deficiencies?
Why? So I can look at this particular art style instead of WoW's or SWTOR's or RIFT's or Secret World's while I...do the exact same thing, only in a more miserable and less accommodating environment? I don't have to wait for hours in WoW to get into dungeons or raids, even as DPS. DPS queues still aren't great in SWTOR, but hey, my juggernaut and shadow both have tank specs, and I get to be a instaqueue god there.
Could be here too if I cared to fate grind a tank class up, but...why? Why should I even bother?
The answer is, sadly, simple; there is no reason. ARR isn't offering one single, solitary thing its competition isn't already doing far better. Except it has chocobos and moogles. SWTOR has lightsabers and Sith. WoW has...
Well, WoW's got nothing really unique at all, other than the fact that its a whole lot of fun to just...go get lost in. There's a lot to do.
Maybe, someday, ARR will not suck. Sadly, its already set itself on the course of being yet another gear treadmill game, so its always going to have a completely forgettable 'endgame' in my book, but that's me.
Subbed for 3 months, and can buy crysta now. Such a pain in the first place. >.<
Abosolutely Yes.
You dude was rushing lv50 in two weeks without experiencing the game.
i bet you didnt even craft/harvest at all.
gear and bosses are things that really excite everytime because you can really feel the differences (saying someone who is working 9 hours a day and still got a Relic).
I love the game overall.
Though in my position, I'm forced to level slower, I have to agree with you that I dislike the ideal of rushing, or "keeping up with the Joneses," as they say. I've already seen people in chat asking for speed runs, or runs with only people who have gear/experience in the end game instances. For a game that's been out for only a month. It's a dark path; the one walked where people start excluding other people based on ilevels or hours played. Good players are waiting in the wings who just take more time to get to end game, either by choice or by life factors.
Of course, that's a choice thing too. People pay for this game, they can choose whether they want to have an easy run or to teach new people. I just think it says a lot about the people who choose the former. Personally, I prefer to surround myself with people who choose the latter.
I subbed for 6 months cause I wanted the shiny veteran rewards and now I wish I didn't cause I am finding the game pretty soul crushing and repetitive (Titan).
Today is the first time I have found myself not caring if I log in, that can't be a good thing.
I haven't played in a week.. I could get the rest of my DL gear but what is the point. Then all I would have left is Titan HM and grinding out AK even more for myth stones.
Yes, i will be.
Nope. Just too boring for me. Have fun, kids.
I have still 18 days free time
After the time end, I would pay for 3 months (8.99€ each month, 26.97€ total).
Quest based progression is very stale by now - yet here we are. Yoshi made it very clear his direction for this game and if we had 1.23's battle system with ARR's foundation fixes, even if the bosses have a pattern it'd be much more engaging.
Also people who say "you use white knight incorrectly" seem to forget people use "troll" incorrectly as well as 'drivel' incorrectly because they say this only when they disagree with someone.
*Looking at my remaining time left*
8 days....
*Desperately trying to find a button that will let me cancel that 8 remaining days*

Sigh... I just want to pay my subscription so I can get my fantasia... /cry
Soo.. what decent MMOs are coming out soon or out now?
I allready subscribed for the next three months. :)
Same here. I'm having fun crafting and leveling various classes. It'll take me a while to hit end game.
MMOs at lauch usually don't have a very large amount of things to do at end game. All the variety and improvements usually comes about after patches/expansions so I've never felt the need to rush immediately to max level.
Those games are old and had a fraction of the production costs modern MMOs have, though.
In recent years, barebones endgame has become the norm. While I'll concur this isn't good, it is the way things are. Games are far more expensive to make today than they were a decade ago.
Hell yea I'll subscribe. I'm in love with this game and I still got much to learn about all the other jobs.
Though...school is gonna make it hard to pay but whatever.
I got bored very, very quickly so no.
I want to stay subbed..I do but..
I just can't tolerate the weekly caps on getting equipment, low cap on mythology points, absolutely ludicrous entry design, such a bad way to increase the games life if you ask me. I mean this games endgame fights can be challenging, but as the OP pointed out, it's more about your equipment than your skill, it really is. I'm on turn5, and I just know no amount of skill will see my group through this, we're gonna need to be geared adequately. I know it's like that in most if not all MMO, but this game just seems to put real emphasis on it. The it makes you go back and wait weeks upon weeks for Mytho reset/Coil reset for gear.
The alternative is the crafted gear, that desires vast amounts of gil or a ludicrous amount of philo points for a single piece. I got bored of CM / Prae after my second run, and having to spam it all day everyday because of weekly restrictions is not fun whatsoever.
I will subscribe because I like the game, and I hope the subscription fee will remove the only cancer that kills this game: The selfish, mean, arrogant players who do nothing but attack others, yell, act mean and behave like children.
I hope I can soon enjoy the game at my pace, earn my gear slowly, learn the fights and play with a nice community.
I pay to play a game, not to be verbally attacked by a professional insult machine.
I will pay my sub when the time comes, but there are many little annoyances that I will not stop railing against. This game has a great base, but it could be so, so much better.
Nope. I'll wait and read about 2.1. I came to FFXIV cause I was bored with WoW. It turns out this is unpolished WoW... If they will add something innovative (and not vanity housing) then I'll buy a month. Right now I am super bored with the game.
This will be hard to read, since I don't really love this game, but it's getting better but:
I made this character since Sept. 7th and took my time, I just reached level 42 since then. It nearly took me a month, and probably will take just the to get to 50.
[Work and blarg.] so yeah, as far as I am concerned, I stopped and smelled the roses all the time, but I mean, the games graphics ain't TERA tier. Nothing to look at too much. Crafting, yeah, I am not a crafter lover but I'ma try my hand at it in this game.
Anyways, it's the beginnings I understand, but this game as it stands, offers nothing, nothing new at all from other MMO's.
/Soothes. I know it's hard to read and I am sorry, but this game is the same game as any other game in game world of MMO's.
If things do not get better, and more fun, aside from me sub-leveling only by FATE's and craft, yeah I'm out, but 2.1 looks promising.
It took me to level 40 to actually enjoy my job as a healer. Never happened before in previous MMO's, I usually love healing straight out the bat. I mean the game isn't bad, but I feel like it lacks a lot of social aspects, right now it's kinda meh...but I know it'll get better later on with the Chocobo Racing and Golden Saucer and Housing. I just want more to do on the side y'know? Aside from fighting and crafting.
Inb4 Try the Sims, NEVAHHHH! Lol.
So yeah, I'll sub thinking things will get more fun.
Edit: Oh and I have such an awesome FC, it'll be hard to leave them. :c
Edit 2: If the meh-ness of the game doesn't make me leave, the crap White Knights, Trolls, RMT, hacked BS and other crap will.
If I wanted to be told to get cancer over friggin' NM Titan, I'd go back to LoL, screw up 1 single time and get reported and all sorts of mess.
The community is a semi-joke, and I hoped for better on a p2p game. Hopefully, things weed out when sub begins, we have a nicer community.
