bump because it was too damn hard to find this thing
Second Wind is in fact a waste of a slot when in a group. Parse it all you like.
The Warrior's major weakness is the fact they take just as much damage as other classes and anything reducing that then becomes valuable. Featherfoot does this. Awareness too, though that ability has yet to prove out its effectiveness until encountering a 100% crit mechanic. Mantra is largely useless (though fun) if there is a Monk in the group. That leaves the obvious choices available.
Did some updates on gear and such. Hope it's helpful till we get changes in 2.1
Good guide and discussions. I've got two questions though. First you use second wind after using 2 other CD... Isn't it too long for an emergency situation...
Second, I know I'm a little undergeared compared to most dps and healers during AK but I have a hard time maintaining aggro. I mean with WHM with relic and so on... is it normal ? I know difference in gear can play a great role but I'm amazed how I fight to keep aggro. Thanks !
The Second Wind Macro fires off pretty quick ~ 1.5-2s so I've never found it takes too long, although it's not my first choice if I'm ever at 200 HP either. It's more of a: anticipating another big hit and the healer is busy so I can pop Inner Beast right after as well. I've also started using it with Bloodbath and Unchained during some fights as the sustained heals are pretty good.
I wasn't able to see what gear you have as it's showing Blackmage atm, but I was doing pretty good against Relic DD's with ~360 STR and the Grand Company Axe. Healer agro should only be an issue if they are overhealing or spamming medica + overheal. Make sure to right click on the symbol to remove Regen before pulls. Using Unchained at the start of boss fights is a good way to quickly pull ahead in enmity. Also make sure you are rotating between Butchers Block and Storm's Eye Combo to get the extra 31% damage on your Butchers Block Combo.
Thanks for the reply. I've never tried storm eye combo on trash mobs, seems I was wrong. For my gear I have the artefact gear received during lvl 45-50 job quests with one DL ring and belt, one hoplite necklace and the grand company axe. Usually i start with two overpower followed by one flash then i switch to combos on the mob that I've focused.
Yeah, even if you only go Heavy Swing -> Maim and then switch back to Butchers Block then you are adding 20% extra enmity to your rotation.
In AK I make sure to mark the summoner mage first and make sure to stun it before it summons the demon. I usually start with Infuriate, and pop my defense macro (Foresight, Bloodbath, Vengeance) toss in a Tomahawk on the mage, Steel Cyclone, Brutal Swing for the stun and then pop the Berserk, Inner release, Second Wind Macro. Then you have enough fire power to do a few Overpowers.
Alternatively you can swap Steel Cyclone for Unchained for even higher damage/heals if it is up off cooldown.
Relic DD's will easily take hate off you with only Overpower being used, so if you don't have Berserk up to use with it then I would say, Steel Cyclone to pull, Stun the mob you have marked which will buy you time to Heavy Swing one mob, Skull Sunder another and then have you back at the main mob to Butchers Block. Then cycle in Storm's Eye on the main mob and you should be golden, with the odd hit on other mobs depending on how much healing is done.
Ok I will try that. I'm not too fond of berserk since I'm always afraid to be unable to act if anything wrong happens. Usually I keep it to gain and maintain aggro on the two adds in demonic wall encounter for instance.
Eh second wind is good to use if you pop berserk second wind inner beast infuriate for an oh shit heal
Chest peice wise I have heard that the chest piece from myth is better for warriors, is this true?
Berserk is very powerful. Don't be too worried about the incap when it wears off. You can use all Off CD skills still (Mercy Stroke, Brutal Swing etc) and you could ask the whm to esuna the incap off you if need be. In the Demon Wall fight I pop Infuriate at the start so that once I have Maim/Storm's Eye on the Wall I pop Unchained and Berserk. That way you can do enough DPS to not even have to worry about the bees. By the time incap comes it's time for repel anyways. Make sure to use Inner Beast when it's up to get that extra 300 Potency in there too.
The Allagan Armor is much better for Warrior. Parry is pretty useless and by using the Allagan Armor you get more Accuracy which gives you more options for Jewelry that may not have added accuracy.
Did some updates on Parry/DEX and what stats are the most useful on Warrior.
After further testing and comparing party compositions, I've updated my guide even further. Please enjoy the read, and hopefully it will bring more insight to those aspiring Warriors.
anyone updating this thread? Or is there a new one that ive missed?
I'll definitely update this guide for 2.1 since so much has changed.
Looking forward to the update!
