I just don't really care anymore. AK isn't difficult. I'll tank where I please so long as it's a good way of doing it. Same thing with the first boss in AK; I get people wanting to abuse a glitch in there and I just tank where I always do, forcing them to not do the glitch or to quit out. I'm not risking an account ban in the first place, and especially not so for a trivially easy fight. They're free to try to rip the mob off of me if they want to exploit, but that's not going to happen.Quote:

he can cast disease...its easier to tank him with tanks back facing a wall and his back facing the pillar. he can't use tail swipe during catastrophe, so it gives dds and healer time to run to the pillar for aoe, and then run away before he swipes. -

Amusing storytime update.
I had a PLD with Relic and full Darklight who's preferred tanking method is to walk up to its face and stand in the middle of the room. Sweet.
The tank also refused to hide for any Catastrophe casts. He just stood out there and ate it. Tank apparently didn't know that Catastrophe scales in damage on repeated casts (1.5k, 3k, 4.5k, 6k approx), and by the third cast / Rotten Breath combo there wasn't much I could do to save the guy.
This lead the tank to declare "omg noob heals". A spirited discussion ensued.
On the second attempt, the tank went for the newbie position -- standing in Corner 4, with the boss kept ass to the world. Worst part? He failed to LOS properly so still ate every Catastrophe. (I knew what was coming this time and "fixed" things with a Benediction after Catastrophe 3.)

I like the position where I don't have to move to hide from Catastrophe as tank. Boss parallel to wall, so Tail Swipe is only half in wall. That's the disadvantage, but it saves that rare occasion where tank gets Heavy during the hide phase, can't get back in position fast enough after, and Tail Swipe hits huge swath of the room unexpectedly.
Boss never moves or turns at all, so even if half tail swipe is in the room everyone knows exactly where would go at all times. -
