Or they could reward tomes based on participation. For example, if a boss was downed and you weren't even in the lock-in area, you get jack squat. I'm sure they could come up better measures of performance if they wanted to.

I find it amusing how many of your solutions to this problem is "do it with your FC". Ffs, the duty finder was given to us for the purpose of "easy" cross-server match ups. If the tool given is not fullfilling its intended job it needs to be taken down or replaced. Ignoring the problem isn't going to solve anything. We should be demanding, not an explenation, but a fix to this problem. I have a great FC, but they love to spam Prae, I find that dungeon way too monotonous and thus enjoy a lot more CM. I am subjugated to DF it up, and up to today I have been lucky enough to never have had to encounter AFK players. And yes, I am a PLD with Relic. But reading and hearing about how this has plagued end game is just shamefull and down right pittyfull from SE's part.
You're right Zuri. SE needs to address this and stop being such f***ing wimps.
So I got a reply to the ticket I made last night in regards to Duck Punch. The GM replied similar to how I imagined. The GM stated that there is no rule/policy dictating how a person must play their role/class/job, but he did mention that there are rules against intentionally disrupting other people's gameplay (which I believe this falls under). They said they will begin an investigation so I'm mildly hopeful that they'll see all the tickets that they are receiving about this one guy and at the very least give him a suspension for this kind of behavior.
I would like to hope that if the whole party reports an intentional AFKer enough SE will notice this kind of behavior and either implement meaningful systems to combat this problem or simply punish the offenders. So I'm asking all that read this, don't simply leave and re-queue if you get a leecher. Take a quick min or two to report them so SE is aware of their behavior as well. We have to let them know that this is not okay, and if they continue to leech/afk they will be punished for it.
Honest question:
I'm having trouble with something; I see people complaining about being left behind by speedruns when they watch the cutscenes, but at the same time I see complaints about leechers. I'd always assumed that the cutscene/left-behind people didn't get their tomes or whatever because of it, but if leeching is a problem then it would seem that they do...? A confirmation or clarification is all I'm looking for, and thank you.
I think this is wonderful. Give us a vote-kick option please.
I can't speak for if people are receiving tomes if they are locked out because of CS, but I ran across leachers/bots twice today in another dungeon. They basically locked on to the tank. and.. that was it. Followed all the way through to the end. So even though they didn't contribute, they were there and thus did receive credit for everything.
This, exactly! All of these problems and the corrosive affect it is having on the game's community would pretty much sort themselves out if DF covered only your own world. Griefers would quickly find them largely blacklisted from group play as their reputations built and also find themselves locked out of all decent FCs.
Edit: similarly, it would make instituting a kick function easier to do, as abuses of kicks would also open a person up to the downside of developing negative rep.
Only thing SE can do is giving us a vote kick system, beyone that there is hardly anything that can be done. This is something Cs watchers wont like, adding a kick immunity during cs can be abused by afkers.
Activity based doesnt work, its not hard spam a random button and easy to exploit, both ways.
Blacklisting on 3th party sites dont work, its too big a hassle to search through lists of names to see if someone is worth your time, not to mention easy to exploit, X won the loot Y wanted so X is now on the black list site.
