This would still be really boring for people to have to watch all the cutscenes when they've seen them before. It's nice being able to skip and sit around and chat or take a WC break or something while waiting for people to finish the scene.
I say they should just roll tomestones into the "first time clear" bonus. Every dungeon boss gives more EXP for everyone when a person new to that dungeon is present, so why not make them give more tomestones as a reward for those at the cap who don't get EXP anyway? Then you get rewarded for helping new players through who still need to view all the cutscenes, instead of feeling punished by waiting for them.
Edit: Actually didn't notice you said "or a member of it" for some reason. So I basically posted the same thing for no reason.
Perhaps offer an even BIGGER bonus when there are new players in the group... I don't know what the current bonus is, but make it something like 2x - 4x the normal award depending on how many new people there are. The more, the better...
How long are the longest cutscenes in these dungeons? Are we talking about lengths like 5 minutes or more? If so, pause the timer for X minutes and resume once all players are done with the cutscene, or X minutes has expired... If people are really concerned about losing those minutes. I'm sure the dungeon times have already been balanced with cutscenes in mind...
Yeah, we're basically in agreement. That's what I meant; if someone is on their first run and watches the cutscenes, then scale the reward for the group.
It feels like a nice solution - pacing is casual, people who hate cutscenes can still skip, newbies get cutscenes, and farmers get time-appropriate rewards. If everyone skips the cutscenes you get half rewards but also half the duration.
There is no problem with the game. There is a problem with your patience. You chose the duty finder. Im not seeing your thoughts about the almost 2hr ques times but your whining about people not being fast enough for your own wants. Form a party command them to do what you want and keep requeing with them. Youre choosing a method you know involves waiting and then complaining about it. Thats what makes people not take you seriously.
haha. I missed every fight when I got there. It was quite funny. They were speeding though the whole thing and I was watching cut scenes. O well. I got 200 tombs for free and I got to watch my cut scenes. Didn't even have to fight one battle. One dude was mad and was like "I really dont want to carry him" But he had no choice. If you really get mad, then leave. :) :) :) :) :D
They were telling me I can just watch the story in the Inn room like I was some noob or something.
The people who complain about running out of time for Praetorium or Castrum are speaking a load of bull anyway. Unless you wipe a lot, both dungeons shouldn't take a little more than an hour to run through.
Look another person below level 50 with solutions to a non issue. Sounds about right.
I think mixing what SE is already doing with locking cutscense could be good.
SE said more stones for being in groups with new people (helping them learn). Just make "slowing" the speed run still worth a speed run ;) lol
Also SE should work on better combination of cutscenes and monster placement/behavior/timing. If people leave at different times in certain cutscenes people can die- say the WHM leaves and gets aggro by a patrol before the tank.
Having everyone leave at the sametime would fix this in "new" groups but in pure old groups that don't want to watch perhaps a vote skip at each cutscene- with an option to do a vote skip at the beginning of the dungeon too. So if everyone says yes at the beginning then no cutscene will play ever, vote skip being anon.
Removing the stones would create a baby ifrit problem though, in 1.0 it took me 2 hours of shouting to get 3 sympathetic level 50s to come help me (where they killed him way before the cutscene was over.. lol).
cape westwind.
there is already 8 man level 50 story content that has no incentive to be replayed
somehow people get through it and move on to CM and praetorium
although to be fair, brainstorming about a 'fix' for a problem that's already slated to be fixed in 2.1 is kinda silly (a new level 50 dungeon, as well as hardmodes for two current dungeons) well, assuming the time:reward ratio isn't awful in the new 3 places to farm
if you wind up with something like the current AK (25-30 mins seems to be about average) vs the two final dungeons (~25mins for CM, slightly better for prae with a decent group, way worse otherwise)
well, spending 30 minutes for 80 tomes, vs 25 for 100...i'd still take the 25 minute clears for 100
but surely they won't release new dungeons without proper rewards, right?
Easy.
Change the way progress work in dungeons -and this is for all, not just these dungeons-
In GW2 no one can move if someone was watching cutscenes cause the next areas only oppend after all players watched or skiped them. Just that simple. In FFXIV it goes the otherway arround and is terrible, players wanting to watch cutscenes many times are leaved behind or out of bossfights which is ridiculous.
