Same thing again freeze then speed up freeze then speed up.
Playing on Cerberus(EU).
The game is mostly unplayable. Everything is lagging 3-5 seconds and then the lagspikes, 15-30+ seconds. For comparison if I fire up SW:ToR or WoW, no lag, nothing, everything is smooth. If I try to play FFXIV, everything in game is suffering from crippling lag even though the character selection screen says my connection to server is Excellent.
I'm on 100/100 fiber with pings to several sites on US and Canada as low as 54ms but FFXIV still lags like there is no tomorrow so I'm sure it is server side or something to do with their datacenters.
Through out the morning I was getting 60-70 ms in latency. It's 4:00 pm now, and the latency shot up to 200 ms. It's definitely the server. As it gets close to NA prime time, lag is getting worse and worse. Please fix this.
Server: Gilgamesh
I can agree lag is bad it started last night i couldnt even finish part of my story quest killing the heretic i froze for 3 minutes when it un froze i was dead
Same problem although its better today.
Yesterday was catastrophic and also the day before.
Server: Odin
ISP: Bredbandsbolaget
Same here on Hyperion. It got especially bad once I joined the DF for an AK run.
Server Odin. Most noticeable in Instances.
Yesterday i started lagging around 20.30-ish (GMT?) then it gets worse and worse. Starts with 3-5 Sec delay every few seconds, and around 9 and forward i had 10-15 seconds delay during entire boss fights, as a healer.. not very fun i must say. I ended up with a disconnect 90,000. (These lags have been going on for a week everytime around 21.00)
From Alpha to release ive never had any problems except the server overload but they were never this bad.
My ISP is Telia, rest assured i dont have any connection problems during these lags. Im no genius but im suspecting that the instance servers gets pretty overloaded. 21.00 EU and prolly alot of NA kids logging in at that time after school or whatever.
What bothers me is that me and my friends get the very same lag but rarely at the same time. :S
I wouldn't be surprised if it's the hackers that are botting or spamming the server with all their macros. Either way, it sucks and bots are apparently out of control?
started 2 days ago for me also. Horrible spikes where DC icon usually appears near to my name then i'm back. a min or 2 later it happens again. Or I just get D/Cd with a 90k. Internet works fine at the same time.
Lag spikes here, worst during NA prime hours (6pm-11pm EST), but become less noticeable during NA late night/early morning hours. Been having them since early access.
30-35 ms when I ping the server, so I don't know what's going on.
Add me to the list, lag spikes last couple days the game is unplayable but everything else Ive tried works fine. My ping is 50ms to the server but lagging all over the place.
I am happy to have found this thread regarding the unexpected lagg in the game client. I can also confirm this problem for the last couple of days.
I am guessing it has to do something with a Windows update from last Tuesday that is messing up our gaming performance?
As last week the performance on my system with final on max settings was smooth as butter. This has changed from one day to another and is now continously :(
Been having this issue since the week 2 maintenance
So, it's not just me. It seems to be getting worse every time they do maintenance. Last night was particularly bad. There weren't even that many people in my zone. Whatever they are tweaking with their servers in there to pack more people in is my guess to be the culprit. It wasn't like this during launch, that was the smoothest it ever was for me if I managed to get in. And at that time everyone was packed into the cities and starting zones zerging every low-level FATE that came out. No lag then whatsoever.
But since that first maintenance I've been experiencing more lag. All my dungeons have been rubber-banding lag fests and not just in prime time either. And now even the world zones are getting so much lag. Playing on my monk there's quite a noticeable delay to all my skills going off and registering. The animation triggers but you don't know if it hit or not since the next skill in the combo doesn't activate right away like it should.
Same here. I never ever had any lag period before the evening on 9/18. Noticed severe rubber-banding in Castrum after 7 PM ET, then in Bahamut's Coil later it became unplayable (1 minute of game frozen followed by everything catching up within 2 seconds). This happened to 3/8 in my coil group and probably ~40% of members across all three coil groups. B Coil is not a high population instance currently, so it's not that. No other issues internet-wise with speed / connectivity. It has happened both nights since digital downloads went back up; during the day it's fine.
I am still experiencing latency spikes on Hyperion. This started Wednesday at approximately 7pm CDT. I am seeing frequent rubber banding of players and NPCs. The lag is at its worst between 8pm-11pm CDT for me. I played all through Beta and early release, but this is the first time I am experiencing this issue. I checked my ISP, and verified my connection is fine. I have check my PC, and I am unable to find anything interfering with the game.
At this point the Primal Hardmodes are unplayable for me. Lag spikes when AoE goes off makes dodging impossible. By the time I see a graphic, I've already been hit.
same here, shiva
Log in restrictions have been relaxed (meaning more people to cause lag in zones). Sales are starting up again. There's also some issues with the data centers themselves. Please read this dev posting for more info.
Same issues on Balmung.
I am having the same problems. Played since beta 1 and never had any form of lag. Mines actually started after Sunday's maintenance. It mostly happens in higher level dungeons like Amdapor Keep or Hard mode primal fights. I would receive a hiccup lag that lasts between 5-10 seconds and it is very frequent. I'm not sure what they did to the servers.
The game was fine this afternoon and now we are back to lag spikes and rubberbanding action, please do not try the "is you ISP fault" card, I'm playing Planetside 2 ATM and everything is fine.
A f2p company can set up lag free servers today so i do not understand why Square-Enix is not able to do it.

Provider: Fastweb.
I didn't have any issues with my connecting until tuesday. Ever since that day I've been getting heavy and I mean HEAVY lagspikes ingame and especially when doing instance related stuff. Garuda fights, Castrum, Amdapor keep. I keep having moment where everything around me stops for multiple seconds and suddenly fast forwards when my connection works again. It's making it impossible for me to do anything except crafting and gathering.

I woudln't mind getting some support from SE about this. Maybe some advice about managing packet loss etc.
Getting bad hiccups on Famfrit.
Issues on Gilgamesh.

After a bit of research there's an obvious issue on the tcore1/tcore2 which seems to be owned by Tata(http://www.tatacommunications.com/). They give most of us a direct route to Montreal with the least hops. Not sure where to go from here/who to contact. :/ (Heck, this could possibly be on iweb as well. Doing some more poking around)

I had the same problems until I closed the client and reloaded. I'm not being hopped through New York anymore, but Chicago and I'm stable.
Still can't play on Hyperion. Everything was okay even after the emergency maintenance last night, but since a few hours ago, I get horrible lag spikes and then eventually disconnect. I've never had any problems with my game connection before today.
Its not on SE's end. I had lagpspike problems on east coast, switched to a VPN in chicago and its fine. Switch back and lag again. There's a hop somewhere between your ISP and the servers that is lagging/has packetloss.
Exactly. The company having the problem is:
as6453.net owned by TATA COMMUNICATIONS: http://www.tatacommunications.com/co...commitment.asp
I'm on the west coast and my isp is wavecable.

I don't know very much about this, but I don't see a problem here, and I'm getting very bad lag and disconnects since about 11am pdt.
Your not taking the normal hops that I see. Where are you located? Who is your ISP? You're being routed through a completely different backbone than most. Would you by chance be behind a VPN/Proxy or firewall?
You're hitting two completely different providers:

I get the feeling that you may have trace routed the wrong IP. You don't seem to be hitting Montreal or any known providers Square goes through at all. Can you double check the IP that ffxi.exe is connecting to?
Started having the rubber banding/people warping around /r0 for several seconds then everything starts going issue as of Monday evening 5pm pst 09/16/2013. Continues to persist every night when I play until now. Never had this issue in all of the beta even during stress test etc.
I'm with Wavebroadband in Washington state and the trace is to 184.107.107.176. I'm not sure how to check what IP that ffxi.exe is connected to.
edit
No proxy or firewall.
edit edit Found it and I'm connected to 199.91.189.48. Did a ping and 100% packet loss
I have had absolutely no connection issues from P3 Beta until last night's maintenance. Since then I've had nothing but 90000 disconnects after loading, constant lagspikes and even lobby server issues. Half the time the game wouldn't load properly and then 90000 error. Now it works fine to log in, but the porting around and lagging is insane.
My original thought was there must of been congestion somewhere on the route across canada. Done a traceroute to the server I am on (on the montreal datacenter), and not one hop is above 60ms.
My ISP does not throttle anything, there are no real limits on bandwidth, and there is sufficient bandwidth speeds to run probably 10 or more games on this connection.
Regardless, this is frustrating =/
