And then WHMs never cure and spam Medica and Stone II because SE mess up contribution measurements. Or the off-tank pulls hate every once in a while to make sure he gets the full 100 tokens.
My point exactly. Your damned if you do, your damned if you don't. For me personally I would hate to see a kick feature for this reason alone. There is one MMO out there that I used to play and its hard to build your character up because of some self righteous A-hole player who thinks your not good enough to run in a dungeon which you have every right to be in the dungeon.
Funny thing is I never saw this in FF 11 everyone wanted to be best they could for their lvl cause they didn't want to let the group down wipe and have exp loss
Oh here we go with these guy's, had em in DCUO when you Qued for a DUO (2 man run) one guy just sits there and says "hey good luck buddy" you can then..
1. Whine at him until he leaves or helps which NEVER happens.
2.Try to go it alone, and know he will be rolling on all loot and get credit.
3.Leave and take a 15min deserter penalty for "abandoning" him.
Now with 2 man runs you couldn't kick anyone because kicks involved a group vote, so those were your options, with no vote to kick ability people will see this happening in 8 man dungeons.
This is BS and I don't want it happening in this game. Vote to kick feature please..
The abuse would be a lot less frequent than what happens currently. Your treshold idea would do nothing to reduce the abuse, the jerks that are currently abusing would just do whatever is needed to attain the treshold, and then stop doing anything. And if you force people to be active for the entire dungeon, it probably would become not interesting to join an ongoing dungeon.
I still have not seen a single compelling argument against implementing a vote kick system. Every single argument is predicated on the idea that the majority is always going to troll you, kick under geared players, kick undesirable classes, kick because they don't like your name. What none of you have failed to mention is that it would only take 1 person to disagree with the kick in a 4 man group to prevent this.
Current system:
1 person can ruin it for everyone
Vote kick system:
1 person can no longer ruin it for everyone, but 1(or 3 in an 8 man) person can also prevent abuse by voting no kick
Last game I ran was Rift, in their group finder I've had to have clocked thousands upon thousands of dungeon runs over the 2+ years I played that. I can't even remember how many times I actually saw someone kicked in a group, but if I had to guess it would probably fit on one hand. So less than a percent of the time? People don't just randomly kick people for obscure paranoid reasons. They usually just keep on trucking.
My contention is that the only reason people even think to act in this manner is because they know that the only recourse left to the other people in the group is to leave, take a 15 minute penalty, then rejoin a potential hour long queue. Adding a vote kicking system isn't about empowering some imagined system of the elite, it's about making sure a single individual can't ruin the rest of the party's experience with impunity.
Let me try and put it another way, I may have been a little to subtle with my previous post:
1. A vote kick system requires a majority(75%+) of the group to vote kick for someone to be removed.
2. If you vote to kick someone for a non-legitimate reason, it's implied that you're an asshole.
3. The claims that a vote kick system would be constantly abused implies that the majority of the players in this game will kick players for non-legitimate reason, or in other words the majority of the players in this game(75%+) are assholes.
4. If 75%+ of the people in the game are assholes, and it only takes 1 asshole to ruin a group, what are the chances that there won't be an asshole in your group?
Answer:
0% - Anyone that assumes 75% of the people they meet are assholes is most assuredly an asshole themselves.
QED good sir, QED!
The other day I was running with that real asshole of a tank who wanted to blow through the instance speed running the whole thing.
I told him several times to stop doing that, that he was killing the fun for all of us. He went all "I don't care" on me.
So, I decided he needed a run back to cool off his head. Maybe by backtracking the instance he'd have time to calm down a bit.
IF there was a kick function, he'd strong-arm the DPS to vote to kick me, threatening to leave the dungeon. So, no, thanks. I like my leverage.
I hope a Dev/Mod will come in here and at least explain that they are working on way to address this problem.
Here's my though.... the person who chooses to not join in the battles and help thru out the mission would be a risk of losing his current Tomes on him which would be divided between everyone else in the party who did play the game, including the 100 Tomes he would have gotten for beating the final boss. Those points will also bedivided among those that took play in the battle
