The Seventh Umbral Age is Upon Us

Personally and I hate to use this phrase but I think we are getting a cataclysm and there are going to be some huge changes coming soon to the landscape and game mechanics.

UGGGGHHHH hope nothing big happens in the next week, it's finals week :(

I'm interested to see how they will tie this all together, they are obviously going to the trouble to put a story behind it all. When we login after the update I bet we will go straight to a cutscene that will show the things changing but how would they explain them changing so rapidly. Maybe we will get ripped 10 years into the future somehow or something like that.

The whole thing is very strange, it could be anything really. Like when you very first start the game you wake up to the voice say 3 words, feel, think and hear I think can't remember them exactly but it made me think that we had been put there by our guardian or something like that and we weren't really real.

Have to give SE credit, they are building hype, huge. I'm watching for info on this like a hawk.

Maybe it'll change over depending on your local time? Anyway if it's true that's one cool title screen.

Would be pretty neat if it IS something to do with the umbral era.

It might be and just shown up before it should have since its clearly a different title design and not an "error".

That's definitely not the error screen. When it errors from adjusting settings, the whole screen is black and it messed up the game screen when you try to log-in. This screen has clouds along the bottom, this is definitely a new title screen and it was just bugging out before or something.

It happened to me hundreds of times before lol typically after a game crash :X

I haven't seen any other blogs talking about this, so it must be a bug or the screen change triggered earlier then it was supposed to.

watching the opening cinematic again, I am guessing that the insane stuff happening ~5 minutes in is what we are gonna be experiencing. That would be...epic.

Ok, might be I'm just being overly enthusiastic due to all the hype lately, but I just saw something odd. In Thanalan, between Nanawa Mines and Camp Drybone, a green dot appeared on my map. Like an NPC. But suddenly it vanished, before I got around the corner of the hill to see what it was. Anyone know what that was all about?

If you look reeeaaally closely (and I mean really closely! :P) there are actually clouds moving down the bottom of the white title screen. I think the black behind it could have just been a display/graphic issue?

But you never know, it could have been a change. Mine is still white though ;;

It is a glitch. I've had that title screen some times ever since the beta.
I think everyone is starting to look too closely for things XD

EDIT: and it seems we have Thanalan music back. And no rain, just a sandstorm. A big one lol

Yeah music is back for me outside Ul'dah but I also have a huge sandstorm going on

So the no music thing wasnt a sign, just the strange GM?

I think the lack of music only occurs in the strangely rainy weather Thanalan has been having bouts of.

By the way, the "odd" title screen is due to running your PC at 8x MSAA. Any lower, and the nice effects on the title screen goes bye-bye.

Wow...just noticed those clouds at the bottom of my login screen har har.

i think one thing that we've over looked is the new raid dungeon that is being added soon with 1.18-1.19. i think we can safely assume that whatever is happening or happens, it will open up an endgame raid/dungeon for us to enter. now maybe its filled with garleans or maybe it has beastmen.

i think everything is going to tie in together somehow. who knows, maybe the dungeon is filled with dragons or maybe the dugeon is ishgard??? i guess we'll have to wait and see

There goes people throwing words like end game out again :P

Actually it shows up if you have adaptive AA set in your graphics options (not the game). I run at 2x MSAA and get the effect.

Hopefully it also has to do with beast tribes being seen more frequently, especially since some of the new sidequests end up having you go against small parties of them.

Most likely, because the beast tribes have the biggest stake in the crystals, and deaspected ones are bad for their religion.

The stuff in that cutscene happened 15 years ago (in-game). You can go to Mor Dhona and see that crashed ship.

Also that black title screen is a glitch. I've only had it come up for me after experiencing a graphical problem which forces me to log out.

We are supposed to get roaming beast tribes so i'm hoping this is when they come out and also be in the behest. It's like everything is so peaceful people are just bored and pretending the animals and bugs are aggressive.

For anyone who doesn't get the difference between an eikon and a primal (not much difference actually sort of synonymous) you should at least get up to the r38 (maybe 36 sorry I did it a while ago) mission because it explains everything. I'm only r39 now (i had to take 3 months break for the semester, getting good grades is more important no matter what you're bs ls tells you), trying to get to 46 so I can never be spoiled again, and thank you to the r50s who have been really good about a lack of spoiling.

Guys I got to see the GM guy. ^-^! I recorded it but I got there just at the end of his time there. He said this in french and I translated it:

" When the sixth sun will layer and that the seventh moon shines in the sky, the ocean of clouds will emit a rain of flames were blazing and the sinister shadows seedbed where the deepest part of the earth ...
