Nice, Akumu. I love it so much when people are calling certain games a MASSIVE FAILURE even though those game sold really well. It is often the very same people who, when saying a certain popular MMORPG is a huge succes, refer to sales numbers.
My guess? It won't be at E3.
I hope for a ps3 release date. What is really left to fix? They can add more stuff after ps3 launch so the ps3 plauers are not too far behind. It is hard playing this game under a 2hr time limit more so with my 1 year old nephew bugging me as I play, Since I have to play in my kitchen.
Probably nothing
FFXII also won some very prestigious awards. Any game from the mind of Yasumi Matsuno is gold. He's one of the few great developer/directors around in the industry today.
SE will probably show everything they are working on except for FFXIV.
With the new letter yesterday, and the revelation that 1.18 might not be out until Mid June, I'm thinking XIV might not make the show too... Perhaps TGS this year, but we'll see.
So I'm thinking that we might see XIII-2 and get more information on that game.
Sigh... how many titles can they cram the Roman numeral "XIII" into...
Less rehash, more rethink.
No 'XIII' title plays the same as the other. It's better than having each title have their own numeral (in which case we'd be in FFXXIII or something at this point). Name sells, and this is better way to do it than keep stacking the numbers.
If the games were mere copies of each other in most aspects, I'd agree. But all they have in common is parts of the lore (which is expansive enough to last for many games). Horrible.
SE wont be showcasing this game at E3
itl be showcasing NEW games as 99% of the other companies do
the ONLY company ive ever seen advertising older games at e3 is Harmonix
i predict alot of big name games at e3 as usual this year, and alot of disappointment shortly after as the games bomb when they actualy come out(tor im looking at you, people are gonna hate you even though they will buy you cuz they are star wars geeks)
Doesn't matter since Nintendo will get all the limelight this year with its Project Cafe (new console).
...oh and then a week later Microsoft and/or Sony will have something extremely similar released and Nintendo will threaten to sue for copyright issues like on the Wiimotes. /yawn, can't wait for another thrilling E3 lawlz.
Project Cafe... sounds like Ipad on wheels
should make for some serious lawl gaming
Supposed to be more powerful than PS3 and a little smaller than the 360 (is the rumor on the skreetz anyway)
Going to go out on a limb and just say that they will mention or show off FF14 on PS3. Additionally, they will preview the upcoming "raids" with the battle changes along with some kind of auto-group feature to make it easy for the E3 attendee's.
There will be brief mention of the future of FF14 and that the first expansion will, likely, be December to early 2012.
This will be FF14's 2nd E3, so whatever they end up doing, i just hope it's not nothing.
I'm really hoping they don't put most of their investment into a cinematic for this one. That would be such an insult to anyone that has stayed with the game ><
showing off the new genders would be decent....tho unlikely probally..
I dont think 14 will be at e3, my guess it will be more other games and focusing maybe even dues ex infos, as well as kingdom hearts n all that blablah. then tgs will be more ffversus13, and then come 2012 we might see ff14 :D
Where did you find the information fro SE ? i went here http://www.square-enix.com/eng/news/...q3earnings.pdf and did not see your numbers, anywhere(Unless they are in yen or i just dint see them)
Here are the blizzard numbers http://investor.activision.com/relea...leaseID=548900 wich you where right, thats why i ask the question of the SE numbers, i just could not find them.
/addtag "Mine is bigger than yours thread"
On topic:
XIII-2 and vsXIII will take the limelight probably.
XIV might be mentioned lightly as a PS3 thing (something to take from this is: IF they do mention PS3 then expect they are getting close to wanting to charge us)
some kind of KH spin-off
and the FF Agito (or whatever its being called now)
new* FF title on a handheld
*I say new as it will be a "new" story with a very similar style of gameplay to another FF title.
But like I said... Project Cafe is going to steal all the thunder (Nintendo always does according to the press)
While I don't expect FFXIV to take center-stage, it needs to be at E3. To not show the recent changes and planned changes would be an economic suicide just as bad as the way they launched the game in the first place.
From a sales and subscription perspective, what is currently hurting FFXIV the most is the people who walked away 6 months ago. You have here a collection of players who rage quit (and I really mean "rage") when the game was at its worst and have since been advocating that people not touch this game with a 2000 foot pole. I'll quote a friend of mine who is among these people:
"FFXIV is currently nothing more than the framework of a mediocre MMO. Square Enix would be better off cutting their losses and scrapping the game entirely and then using the engine to re-make FFXI or some other game."
And people take him seriously since he is top of his class in Australia's leading Video Games educational institute.
These people of course know nothing about what has happened since Yoshi-P took the reigns, making their comments to people considering picking up and trying out FFXIV exceptionally uninformed and unhelpful. These are the people that Squeenix needs to, at the very least, silence from their bad press, even if they can't get them playing again. And they can't do this in the game or it's community itself - they can only do this in an environment that is attentively watched by gamers and press across the world that would otherwise attempt to avoid news on this topic.
E3 & TGS.
These events give Squeenix a rare opportunity to actually tell the quitters how things are changing and show that, come PS3 release, the game is actually worthy of consideration in a second round of reviews. They would be very foolish to not take this opportunity.

Square Enix may even allow e3 be used for more of their westernised and show games such as Hitman 5 and new tomb raider.
