Missing Genders: A request for Male Miqote, Female Highlander, and Female Roegadyn

Male Miqo'te, Female Roegadyn, and Female Highlanders would be very very awesome. I absolutely 110% want this to happen.

Hopefully we can keep this thread alive and get tons of supporters :3 death to gender barriars!

I'm going to have to politely disagree with you, here. I truly believe that having a character suited to your personal tastes can give the individual the desire and joy needed to continue playing a game. Perhaps it is not a priority for you, but I am on the same page with this thread author. The character creation design for this game (in general) is far too restraining, which STILL has not allowed me to create a character desirable to my tastes. You're calling her picky, but this is common concern for any mmo. As far as male and female counterparts for Miquo'te and Galka (completely forget how to spell the new race-name! :P), I think this is a step in the right direction. In my eyes, I think that customization is part of the fun of an online game. Besides, I think many of us are sick of looking at this game as a XI-concept clone with upgraded graphics. I am perfectly alright with Square Enix pushing away from the concepts of Final Fantasy XI, and branching into other options. I'm not saying your priorities for game improvement are wrong, I'm just saying that what you get out of a game may differ from what someone else finds as high-priority. So in short, I'm all the gender add-ons (plus more customization, if that even becomes and option in the near future)!

I'm not trying to argue or anything, but I still don't think that the big muscular type women are popular in the gaming world. Yes, you can find them in some games, but when you compare it to how women are usually depicted it is pretty much a joke. I'll give you the Orc and Tauren. But the Troll, Draenai, and Worgen females aren't very muscular. They are rather slender, like is usually done in the world of games. The female dwarves are rather strong and stout individuals, but we both know that they aren't often seen running around in WoW. Yeah, big muscular women are in some games, not denying that. I was just saying that they aren't popular in the gaming world in general. Yes you have the strong slender women. But, you don't often see women of the more hulking variety.

I personally, wouldn't mind to see something like that in this game. But, I highly doubt that it will be implemented in this game.

They should just remove Mithra from the game imo.

Who says Female Highlander or Female Roegadyn are big and muscular? What if they're more akin to something like the She-Hulk? Tall, lithe, strong but very fast. I mean yeah, even the She-Hulk is toned a bit in some of her depictions, but I could honestly see both of these race combinations being very attractive in their own rights.

I think it's good to have more options to choose from gender or race for that matter.
If you don't like it, then you don't have to choose.

I personally want the SE to add more voice choices too I mean it's kind of weird all the races have the same voices?
If there are unique voices to choose from for each race, it'd be more realistic and race difference is more highlighted beyond appearance.

Something like female highland hyur wouldn't necessarily have to be big or buff, but even simply athletic would suffice. There is a difference between muscle definition and being muscular or athletic and being grotesquely muscular. Would it be for everyone? Of course not but having the option is always nice.

I'd be 100% on-board for the additions of the missing gender/race combinations. As many others have stated there's no reason, even in lore, not to. In fact they explicitly mention some of the missing counterparts time and time again.

ya im also all for adding new races, ever since i first started FFXI i always wondered why there was no male mithra and was pretty annoyed that i couldnt be one, so i just started as a hume and by the time i got lvl 75 i was already tired of it, so id rather not be a hume/hyur again in FFXIV and lalafell is kinda boring too lol. so ya if they added male miqote and female roegadyn i think it would not only add a whole new element to the game, but it would also bring in new people and old people that quit who wanted to see new races.

i really hope they all become playable and not just npcs it'll just be a giant slap in the face to the people who want to actually play as them.

Could I get an aquatic playable race? Seriously.

The storyline already mentions a really wealthy and beautiful Female Roegadyn in Ul'dah, so I would suspect they're actually pretty attractive and not at all the "female galka" that some people are still stuck on picturing. XD

Meh, personally I'm neutral about this because I generally feel that the gender specific race should stay where it's at, Gender specific, but on the other hand, I guess it would make things interesting, because I'd really like to see them try to justify how female Rogedyns would look, I guess like the other person said, more like she-hulks, but not too much.

Female Highlanders would probably resemble more like an amazon tribe. Not sure where I could go with Male Miqotes though.

I honestly hate gender locked races and was hoping for a Male Miqo'te when the game was announce, only to see a reboot of FFXI genders plus one. It's the standard excuse "No time, resources, etc." to balance out gender in a game. it mean they never planned to have them in the first place.

I'm glad we got some customization in the first place for this game, but I also have my issues. Races are pretty much FFXI-2, same selection getup with the only difference being we also now have Highlander Hyurs. But seeing we now have these buff Hyurs running around, there's very little difference between one of those and Roegadyns (due to them having no tails now).

Now the game background is all said and done, but I really would have liked to see more of a race selection along the lines of the Ivalice world. I could see a counter argument to this with having very one sided gender pickings, but the FFXIV races all seem too similarly humanoid.

i think if SE made an item that let you switch your race and keep all your progress armors etc... they'd probally make us pay cash for it XD

I would do it.

i think Male miqos should be Sun keeper only X3 i dunno sun keeper seems like it would fit them, how much work would be needed to add male hairstyles and features O.o

That was actually what I was meaning by having bigger females. Though, I know with my use of the word "hulking" didn't get my point across correctly ^^;

There will always be detractors for any idea, standpoint, policy, function, system, requirement, etc.

You can always sum it up as "Haters gonna Hate"

least the thread is going well :3 this should have been out with XIV from the beginning. Viera would have been nice to see XD the Bangaa's....well they're better than Seeq's....

Seperated Universes do not share Races. XI and XIV can be assumed to be the same universe different planet which is why races developed equally but differently.

Ivalice races will stay in ivalice.

While Viera would be nice they are established from a different FF universe all together (For all intensive purposes I always refer to both FF online games as being in the same universe but different worlds.)

I hope something does come out of this thread XD if Male Miqotes and the other gender becomes playable my entire faith in SE as a whole will be renewed. yep thats all it takes for me XD

I wouldn't play them, but I do think they should be in the game (I'm a lalafell deep down :3). I've known plenty of people from xi that wished the races did exist, and how long the community has been asking for them. I was honestly surprised that they didn't introduce them for xiv, I really expected them to.

It's not something I'd want them to do immediately, but at least a word on it would be nice for the people hopeful for it. Even if it's added down the line, that would still be nice. If they ever added the extra genders, I would assume race changes would be available also, like WoW.

But with something that's been asked for by a good sized population of people, you'd think it would be good for them to listen XD

To be totally honest, I'm not going to stop playing simply because they haven't included anything new in terms of races other than a few modifications, but I seriously think that it would add an extra layer of variety to the game, plus maybe attract some new blood in the process who might think it'd be awesome to play as a mancat or she-hulk.

...And seriously, an aquatic race. I'm not talking about adding swimming or anything like that. Just an aquatic race and maybe a tropical region to go along with it(or something). Doesn't need to be a zora or anything.

As far as the aquatic race goes, I mean we've already got the Sahagin but they're evil so that's out. They'd have to create an entirely new race to go along with it.

If any new races/options are added in I hope they at least allow us a one-time change or charge for a change.

I am all for any new races as long as the races are properly implemented and go along smoothly with the Final Fantasy look and theme. They need to look appropriate for the game.

Ugh, we already went over this, Male maqote are too busy picking up chicks, and female roe's are too busy training their sandwich making skills with the female highlanders. They are obviously too busy to be bothered atm so leave them alone plz.
