The OP would indicate otherwise.
People only wanted it because of server congestion. With two maintenance sessions that added new worlds, a new duty finder server, expanded server capacity, and the future addition of world transfers, congestion is about to be a thing of the past, and with it will disappear the reason for everyone's rage against AFKers. It's like when people paid full price for an iPhone 4 the day before the iPhone 5 was announced and dropped the price of the 4 in half -- this would have been a great investment when the technology actually had relevance, but why the heck is this happening now?
Good gracious. If you arent idle for 30 mins, this will never affect you. If you are idle for more than 30 mins, well, then you should have logged out anyway. This feature is in a whole lot of games, its not some new feature. Get over it.
Congrats square enix on the auto log-out feature finally people who want to play and not just standing around (afk) this will make the game more fair for people who want to play
I still had 1017 error. Is everything fine as long as it isn't happening to you guys?
OP I hope this is a troll if not you are pathetic.
So you have to pay attention to the duty queue every so often now? Boo freaking hoo. The players in many other MMOs survive, (WoW included, and it has longish dps queues) you will too. I promise it'll all be okay. There is absolutely no reason to be afk in the game for longer than a half hour. And if you are, log back in! OMG it's so difficult. :(
I have to say I'm with the OP on this one.
OH wait, he said remove the feature, not the AFK user? Disregard :D
I think it's addition that's been needed since EA. Great to see it put in place. The city states are loaded with Idlers, it'll make it a better experience for us all.
If you've not done anything for half an hour you should be kicked, end of.
Original Post needs a box of Kleenex, QUIT CRYING, Drama Queen!
This improves the performance, gets rid of alot of player hot-spots and make sure people check their duty finder once in a while instead of just making sure someone else has to go through a list of people not accepting their dutyfinder
I'd say the OP was successful in luring enough prey.
He will dine well tonight.
Hello, I like ponies.
It's strange that they put it on so late, after most of the server issues have been fixed. I think it still needs to be in for now, as town overcrowding can be a big issue sometimes, but after 2-4 weeks I would like to see it removed again.
Standing around for 30 (!) minutes not playing is not playing. End. Of. Story. Seriously.
Applying single player logic to an MMO is not working. Spare us your ego trip, OP.
Also, players agreeing with the removal are in complete denial. lol
And besides, it's not like this is a feature that's totally unheard of in other MMOs.
I'm more than looking forward to less crowded areas and better performance.
Actually, if you had read the Final Fantasy XIV User Agreement (http://support.na.square-enix.com/ru...1&tag=users_en) you would know that your statement is inaccurate. You do not in fact have the right to "play the game however you wish." Specifically, I imagine that walking away from your keyboard for extended periods of time can be considered disruptive, in that it prevents others from logging in who wish to make more active use of the service.
This is not to say whether or not I agree with the OP or whether the logout timer is too short, or whether it should exist at all, however no one has the right to do anything in this game. You accept an agreement when you log in for the first time, and you continued playing of the game is contingent upon that agreement.
Im playing on tonberry atm. Still getting 1017 up till last night so yeah.... We do need the afk timer,... Well... At least my server does. :P
Tbh I hope they never remove it. Some say its not needed still, but I beg to differ. Yes some of the login issues have been alleviated, but what youll run into now is lag. The more people on the server and the more people in a zone generates lag even if standing there. Now add pets to those afk people with all their sparklies, I.e. carbuncle. This creates lag auto logout afkers will help reduce stress and lag on the server. Besides why would you want to stand around afk for? You cant bazaar and correct me if im wrong but dont you get more rested xp logging in an inn?
Hahahhaahah oh man I can't believe people are actually asking for this to be removed. You guys HAVE to be trolling? Please? I was still unable to log onto Tiamat most of the time due to 1017 until tonight.
Go back to single player games you ignorent nubs.
Give me the option to turn this off. Sometimes I leave the game on so I can watch and see if anything interesting is happenning while I do other things. There multiple reasons why this is just annoying. Get rid of it or give me the option to turn it off myself like in FFXI.
Create a looping macro. AFK timer defeated. If purely movement based, auto run inside an inn room. Stop complaining. While it may inconvenience some, it will benefit others. OP and those that want this feature removed, you only have those that abused it to stay logged on intentionally to avoid the inevitable 1017 error should they log out. Those people were the symptom of inadequate servers, but were easy scape goats to blame for those of us that played the log on mini game for hours at a time.
30 minutes is too short. I've had duty finder waits that were more than twice that. I don't know if being in the duty finder counts as being active, but either way just on a matter of principle the game should not kick you for being inactive for a shorter period of time than the game forces you to wait.
30 minutes is very short... I alt-tab while wating for the duty finder which usually takes longer than 30 minutes to find me a party.
Community: The afk players blockade the servers, we need a forced lock-out.
SE implement forced lock-out
Community: Too late, we need it not more. Away with it.
SE remove forced lock-out. Online sell start again. New players coming
Community: SE, we need forced lock-out again. Give it us.
You can fish some fishes while you wait. Some fishes give you also some gil.
The best thing about the content finder is, you can do all different stuff while you wait. You don't need to be AFK.
