If they aren't willing to learn then nothing in the Op will change their mind. There are the hardcore/elitist and then there are the "I payed for this and you can't tell me a thing!" Types.

Some people want this to be a hardcore game, and I think they're just trying to foster that 'only the strong survive' attitude even if it isnt needed. But I feel that it's the nice friendly people that will be remembered, not the 'good' players who are rude to everyone else.
When I did Garuda HM for the first time with a tank friend, we spawned in and admitted it was our first time but we had watched a video of the fight. We were lucky to get a nice group who explained stuff to us, and the other healer marked themself to make it easier for me to follow and know where to stand. Having a nice patient group made it easier. Every time I've done it after, I've been with other new people, but I've had tanks drop the moment we wipe after insulting people for not being good enough because nobody would give the time to explain, I've had a tank drop immediately after spawning in because he didn't like the party make up.
I did Ampador Keep the other day with 2 LS friends, it was my second time, Im normally healer but went SMN to let a friend come first time as healer. We wiped a few times on Demon Wall while the healer learnt, worried our pug BLM would leave but were surprised when he said something along the lines of 'I wont rage, I think that if Im patient and teach others, then hopefully when they know it they'll do the same and teach other new people.' What happened to that BLM? He got an invite to our LS.
Before this, I did a CM run for tomestones and was paired with another healer who was in there the first time. The tank was being rude, was trying to speedrun and start fights without explanations, kept calling the other tank noob after he apologised and said it was his first time. I quickly got tired of him and told him to stop being rude and calling people names and let new people watch their cutscenes since it's a story dungeon. I don't even remember that tank's name anymore, but it resulted in befriending the other healer, who's now in my LS, who we helped finish the story missions and taken through AK and hard mode primals.
Sure, sometimes you try to be nice and people just won't take it or listen. But again, in the end if you're nice you'll be the one to be remembered, and as the BLM in the earlier story said, if you teach someone, hopefully they'll teach someone else when they meet someone new.
If I suck at my job and am not doing what needs to be done, I enjoy being told.
I like learning things. If I can do better, awesome.
Buuut, that's not how it works most of the time.
You get that guy who says something like: "Omg you fkkn nub do this" then spouts information that makes no sense.
