Ever since Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast and FFXI, I've been a controller+keyboard user whenever I could be. So I always have at least one hotbar of either keyboard abilities or macros.

I need a higher resolution!

Here's mine. It's easy to swap between classes.
The top chat window is mainly for what the boss is casting.
The second one is for LS, FC, tells, and party chat.
The third one is for gathers, synths, loot, says, and shouts (good for keeping the walls of text from obstructing FC or party chat).
Having the marks on the hotbar makes it easy to mark when the tank forgets too. The bind marks are on my Bard hotbars.
Sadly, had to switch to another PC since my first one was too weak to run the game.
Which basically means that I went from a 1920x1280 screen to a 1680x1050 screen.
Just imagine how pretty this would look on a 1920x1280. :D Atleast for me. :P

My UI looks like this atm.
;; thanks to some pointers in the topic I was able to hide the unused actionbar buttons... was always struggling with that :/

my UI as of late - don't think I'll be changing around too many things now that I've settled in at 50.
my UI is set up for gamepad+keyboard simple and effective for how i play with battle as a separate chat box.

it will be nice to be able to save the UI interface as a template and apply to other character in other region.
Afaik only the "System Configuration" settings are shared and each character uses their own individual copy of all the other settings.
However since those settings are all stored on your computer and not the server, it should be possible to simply copy the files from one character folder to another in order to import things like keybinds, HUD, etc. I haven't had any reason to test this yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't work, since backing up and restoring those files seems to work just fine.
You can find the files under Documents -> My Games -> Final Fantasy XIV - ARR. Each character has their own folder with an indecipherable character code, but you can just look at the creation time/date of the folder to figure out who is who.
edit: Btw has anyone else had problems with the Focus Target window not staying put between relogs? Mine keeps moving to the left after I relog and I can't find a way to stop this. It's beginning to piss me off...
edit again: After some experimentation I've discovered that the Focus Target window only moves horizontally and it keeps aiming for certain "snap-to" spots that are roughly 3 squares apart from each other. If the window is perfectly aligned with one of these snap-to spots it seems to stay put indefinitely, but if I move it even a millimeter to the left, then it will reposition itself to the next snap-spot to the left of where I save it.
When I showed the problem to my fiancee (who is a software programmer) he told me it could be a rounding error and instead of saving the exact X coordinate of the Focus Target window it's only saving a rounded down coordinate, thus causing the window to move each time the X coordinate you left it at doesn't match the rounded-down coord.
hmm... copying you say?
Might be worth a shot =)
This is what im rolling with as my UI as a Monk. I spent a lot of time on it. Pic was obv taken during a... failed Titan run... :/ Damn that fat bastard!

Finally got around to screenshotting my UI.

I might have to make adjustments when it gets to 24 man stuff... I really wish I could resize and just generally modify the party unit frames. They are my biggest frustration when trying to customize my UI. Ideally I would have the unit frames at the bottom center of my screen, just above my own health bar and such, but the way they are designed makes that pretty much impossible.
Also, am I the only one annoyed at how the durations of my buffs look very cramped and kind of on top of one another?? D: I don't know why they do that, and I wish I could fix it!
This thread inspired me to do some modifications to my own basic setup. Originally I was fairly closely aligned to the default, but looking at you guys' idea, I came up with a setup that suits me much better.
I don't really like the main menu and its small circles. For some reason, I always have to think a few seconds about what each one does, so adding most of the functions to custom placed hotbars made it much easier for me. To each their own, you know? ;)
I also switch jobs a lot, and so I found it just plain convenient to have them all placed in a non-intrusive (and symmetrical) way.
I'm still tweaking it as I see how a bigger party list, enemy list etc affects gameplay, but this is pretty close to what i envisioned when I started out!
Great thread ^_^b
ctrl+home let's you resize whatever UI part is selected..Unless you meant something else and I misunderstood lolhttp://i.imgur.com/2defYZI.jpg

I feel like changing it up after seeing some of these other UI's.
Oh, I know, and I already did that. But the party UI is still too large for my tastes. A lot of this has to do with how it displays the mana bars of the party members, something that really should be able to be toggled off, because I simply don't need to know that kind of thing. Also, I'd like the ability to break down the party UI into multiple columns, so in an 8 man, I could have two columns of 4 players each. This would better utilize screen real estate.
Is there anyway to alter the Hotbars like that for Ps3 or are we stuck with that double circle mess?

I got influenced by this thread. XD
Played around with it today, and after some effort I got something I'm happy with.

I'm still playing around with things a little bit, trying to rearrange everything to my liking (I change it so often that I even hotkeyed the HUD Layout button). I set up the bottom-left hotbars to take advantage of my Razer Naga, but I think it's a bit overkill to have enough spots for 36 different abilities to use the same 12-key thumbpad.
My personal opinion, but the default UI works the best. It really just needs a higher resolution or ability to scale. A lot of the UI's that people posted on here seem really clunky, but each to their own ;)
I'm all about minimalism.
Here's mine. Everything is there, expect the party members which are on the left side of my screen.

I think the UI needs to be allowed to be made smaller as my resolution right now is 1280x720 and it makes it really difficult to even have things on so I've had to disable a lot of things in order to make the UI less cluttered.

There's actually not as many customizing features as I'd like, but I was very happy that there's the ability to scale elements or turn them off completely, the latter of which I immediately did with (IMO) the mostly-useless minimap. Instead I dragged and scaled down Duty Finder into its place, and scaled and dragged the main map into my upper left.
My wishlist:
- customisable Duty Finder (toggle-able quest tracking, priority highlight quests)
- more scaling options, or better yet a slider that activates in the config window
- an alpha slider, including option to have elements fade more when out of combat and visa-versa
- more options to modify the chat box, auto-locking to channels as a toggle option, slider for background alpha notepad feature, fix to the whispering people on my blacklist issue, etc etc
Here's a few videos of my interface @work.

Mine's pretty simple. I've changed it around a few times just to get more comfortable with it, but we all could use the ability to tweak it more.

I'd echo much of what's already been said for a wishlist of additional UI options... I hate having to work around silly things that I don't need or would condense.
I'd like a way to hide the hotbar via macros, without the need to go to the menu. Googling that, I found something like /hotbar Toggle on or off [Number], but when I try to use it replacing Number with the hotbar number, it says that I'm using it the wrong way. Do you know how to use it the right way? Or a complete list of chat commands?
Here is mine:
(1920 x 1080 with most UI components on the smallest setting with Ctrl + Home)

Bottom Left is general chat, shouts, yells etc,
Upper Left is Loot
Bottom Right is LS, FC, Party, tells chat so I don't miss the important stuff.
Is there any plans to make the UI more effective for PS3 in the future if using a mouse and keyboard? Anyone have any news on that? If you do, I'd be really appreciated if you could send me a link about it. I think PS3 should be able to use the PC's UI if a mouse and keyboard is in use.
Again if you guys hear or heard of anything, please, please, please let me know.^^
Here's mine.

Talking about PS3 not PC. Why even post a PC pic? I am laughing so hard right now....
