I smiled every time a WAR was in the group since I knew the sword drop would be mine!

Did not realize until now how lucky I was last night to get my weapon on my very first run.
i have only had the need to do ifrit 3 times so far.
every single time has been a summoner book.
a white mage in my FC has done it 20 times and has never gotten the drop.
garuda sword dropped first try for me. :|
on a completely different note i now have a ifrit summoner drop that i have absolutely no use for. can we make it so i can get rid of it and actually gain something?
Gaaah stop whinning and be thankful Ifrit Hard Mode is a short run.
I have been running Wanderer Palace to get the shield from Tonberry King and 20 runs still no shield in sight...
Random is random just like people say and hey notice that Ifrit HM gives Tombstones of Mythology? Thats actually nice.
I don't know what you are talking about. I did Ifrit HM for the first time last night and the Bow dropped.
Seeing as I'm a Bard, I find this drop rate acceptable.
Running both Garuda and Ifrit last nights back to back, both drops Monk weapon and NO monk in the party..Wtf? .... For those who said the drop rate is acceptable, mainly because they already have their weapon drop. Otherwise, I would see more QQ about drop rate. The drop rate need to be changed seriously, should be by based on what class the groups have, no random drop >_>!!!
I feel kinda cheated out of being enraged about this. It's not Ifrit, granted, but it took 6 Garuda kills for her to drop the sword, and the other Paladin rolled higher for it and I was all D: -- but then on the 7th kill, the sword came up again and I rolled higher than the other Paladin for it and I was all :D.
I always roll Need or Greed on things (because I love useless gear in my inventory XD), I now have my Garuda's Wile (no Ifrit's Cane after 40th win), plus Ifrit's Codex (SMN), Garuda's Will (SMN) and Garuda's Talons (MNK), all got as WHM XD
I have ran HM Ifrit running on between 70 and 80 times. I have the fight locked down in my head. Never once seen the sword drop. I attribute this to my luck where it will drop AFTER I get my AF sword.
Today some people in my lv50 linkshell invited me for Ifrit, I had nothing better to do, so I joined and got my weapon ^^
I already have Garuda, but for primals I always try to have kill and weapon, so I tried Ifrit more than 50 times now and the last run was lucky (there was also another WHM but the cane went to me)
I ran Ifrit HM yesterday 5 times (including my first ever victory). The SMN book dropped 3 times! It was ridiculous, and my group joked that SE is trying to tell us something (read more lol?), but we didn't have a SMN on my first ever victory so I rolled greed and won it!
I've run ifrit twice. Got the wmn weapon the first run. Ran it a second time for a whm friend and get the weapon a second time.
The exact same thing happened to titan both times I've gone there.
Random is random.
Did Ifrit HM for my new BRD relic quest, hoping for bow to drop, but no luck, BLM weapon drop instead. Told my pt why don't we just go Garuda HM instead of farming Ifrit HM. So we did, clear it for my relic quest, and got Garuda bow, the other BRD I know roll for it as well but I won it instead. Random can be awesome or a pain in the ass.
Got the Axe on a greed role the first time healing it on my WHM, got the WHM cane my 2nd run.
Got the sword after probably 10-12 runs (stunbot pally queues ftw)
I dont have much hope for getting the bow, given how DPS queues are, and the general tendancy of people to quit if they dont see a caster dps or if we wipe once, as well as the fact im rarely the only bard. At least on my tank and healer I can usually just spam it back to back.
But so far ive seen - Axe, WHM cane, healer book, lance, fists, bow (while on my pally >_<)
I've probably beat ifrit about 40 times now and still have yet to see a single Harpoon drop. Would be nice to maybe have two weapons drop even if they have the chance if being the same. Still pressing on while I wait to gear up for Garuda.
I did it 3 times and i got my drop. Sadly my drop is common. BLM <3
But like most of you said its just random. Im my 3 runs whm, MNK, and BLM droped. i greed won the MNK wep aswell as need won my BLM wep.
Im not going to go for my Garuda weapon as soon as i complete my Darklight set. so far i been told im ok to go with 3.1k hp outside an instance. But im scared of the drop rate. >.<
30 runs;
Grimoire - 13 times, 6 times in a row at one point.
Claws - 7 times.
Codex - 6 times.
Bow - 2 times.
Cane - 1 time.
Battleaxe - 1 time.
Random is not random. Add to this the fact that the average Ifrit HM run has at least two, sometimes three Dragoons in it, then I'm looking at upwards of eighty to ninety runs total, presuming one actually drops in the next couple of tries.
Meanwhile, philo mats are selling for 40k a piece, and don't take much longer than four Ifrit runs to obtain. I might as well just go buy a Titan HM completion at this rate.
Must be one of the lucky ones. Got my Ifrit Harpoon on first attempt
I have probably killed him over 50 times in the past 3 weeks. It has really started to kill the fun in the game. I saw the bow drop for the first time yesterday, but got outrolled by a guy who said "wow, my first try".
There is a 1/8 chance I will get the bow to drop. Then after that there is normally another Bard that gets queued so it's a 1/2 chances after that. Surely loot can be handled in a better way.
I have run Ifrit as a paladin successfully 49 times and have not seen the weapon drop. Something has to be wrong.
Surprisingly it seems like my garuda groups have been ALOT better than my Ifrit groups, here's hoping i can get a weapon or 2 on a greed roll. =D
The odds of that occurring (a 1/9 chance not happening 50 consecutive times) are about .25%. One in four hundred people will have luck as bad as you. It's unfortunate, but it's math.
I have a question for everyone: which would be worse, not seeing it drop 50 times in a row, or seeing it drop 50 times in a row and losing the roll every time?
Just saw the topic and found it funny. For me its the full opposite, yesterday alone i did it maybe 10 times, of that 10 times, there were 3 WHM drops, 3 Bow drops (they dropped in row...), 3 Blade Drops and the Book. Im Drg and War and my 2 Weapons i never saw yet. In around 50-60 runs together... Im soon to beat Titan (finished Garuda) without never had a Ifrit Wep...on both jobs.
I'm not farming Ifrit for my pally weapon any longer. It's a waste of time. I'll work on my summoner since I managed to win that one on a greed roll after it dropped 26 times out of the 50 I ran looking for the pally drop and just go back to the previous game I played to get my tanking fix. At this point, I'm just killing time until Elder Scrolls comes out so its really not that big a deal anymore.
The .25% chance calculation assumes the blade has a 1/9 chance to drop. From previous sample sizes we know it doesn't. The grimoire drops like crazy, on the other hand.
Still, regardless of the exact math, I think we can all agree killing a boss 50+ times and having nothing to show for it is not fun gameplay, especially when along the way you get stacks of another classes weapon, even when they aren't there. My first two runs were harpoons we greeded because there weren't any dragoons present.
I didn't beat primals just to show someone I did.
You can post on the lodestone a picture of you beating Ifrit, no one gives a shit.
And there is a difference between "a weapon every 9 fights" and "11-12% drop rate".
Just farm Ifrit until you get your weapon, I know people who've beaten him more than 200 times just to get a sword.
I got my Ifrit's Cane after 40+ runs, I just was lucky.
QQ on this matter as well.
Either put the weapons for sale after 20 runs with w/e item or sort the loot table.
"Nothing to show for it" means you didn't get anything, not that you don't have bragging (or whinging) rights. Ok, yeah, you do him 50 times you get 500 philo tombstones which you may or may not need, at a drop rate fantastically worse than doing philo stone dungeons or Garuda.
11% drop rate means exactly that, when it's drop time, there is an 11% chance of something dropping. You would see such an item 1 in 9 times, roughly. The observed drop rate on the weapons on this boss is not like that though, and for reasons we don't really understand, horribly skewed. I've greeded the Grimoire so many times it's not even funny because I've seen it so often. I've gotten the axe multiple times when there wasn't even a warrior present. But the blade? Nope. Have never seen the monk weapon, either.
Now, accounts like this are to be expected with RNG, but a little math starts making it obvious that the drop rates for the weapons aren't equal and some classes are doomed to run Ifrit 4-5x as much as others just to get their weapon. Does that make fun gameplay sense? No it does not. Would it make sense if you needed to get 5 titan downs to get your relic and I only needed one? No. QQ please fix.
I got both ifrits and garudas on my 2nd try :)
Maybe something wasn't lost in translation -- you just don't understand stats. That's ok.
Do you have a point to contribute aside from misunderstanding what drop rate means? If you think the drop rate is great, I suppose we'll just have to disagree on what makes a game fun -- for me, almost mindlessly running the same encounter every night for weeks just praying a server kicks out a certain number isn't really engaging or fun. I'd prefer *some* kind of reward for progress -- like maybe a single Ifrit-specific token, and you get 50 and can turn in for the weapon rather than just praying to the gods of RNG.
Once you farmed 50-100 times dungeons like AK/WP/CM/Prae, I don't see the problem in 100 Ifrit/Garuda/Titan fights, they're so easy and fast, 10 minutes instead of 40 each.
I'm the one who farms Grand Dragons in the Mist Continent every day for months, so maybe I'm the weirdo who likes farming. Asking SE to modify everything you don't like is a bit childish in my opinion, if you don't like farming quit the game and shop what you want in SoulCalibur or FFXIII-2.
SE has decided that you must run the same battle over and over again if you want a primal's weapon, just deal with it.
Seriously the grimoire drops WAY too many times. I've ran this instance about 40 times and most of the time a Grimoire dropped. I've never seen a bow drop. I saw about 2 blades, 1 claw, 3 staffs, 3 axes and 1 harpoon. All of the rest have been the Grimoire. Its really killing the fun of the game for me.
