White Mage! I miss wearing the traditional white robe with red triangles.
This is pretty much what I would like. Sort of like the Scholar Dark and Light arts of FFXI if you played it, except you can't change them on the fly and equipment can be used based on specialisation. Certain spells and skills could only be unlocked if you were a specific specialisation (Tier III nukes for Black Mage etc)
Pets, definetely...
There are mobs: bring Beastmaster.
There are automatons: bring Puppetmaster.
There are primals: bring Summoner.
A blue mage type would be fine for me aswell^^
I'd like a true support class of any kind, like a Bard or a true White Mage. As it stands now, the idea of 'support' makes little sense as everyone can equip cure and enfeebling effects last mere seconds. However, with the overhaul of the battle system and possible changes to class uniqueness I'd really like a more support-style class. This is my favorite role to play in a party and I feel it's sorely missing from this game. I play conjurer and thaumaturge, but I just don't get the same enjoyment out of it since both magic classes are such hybrids of different aspects of magic. -_-
Scholar - Measure
Thief/Assassin - Knife
Monk(Or Guardian) - Bo Staff
Puppetmaster - controller-or that stick thing.
Geomancer- Bangles/markings(if bangles, make it more ritualistic gloves, not something you'd smash faces in with like the PUG.)
Summoner (the classical class), archanist and muskateer could also be added (as there are guild for them in the game)
What if at rank 50 you could combine two classes into a hybrid like thing, and then level that class too 70-100.
I would also love to see a pet class released. I played all three in FFXI, but it seemed that they couldn't figure out how to make them on par with the rest of the jobs until a couple years ago (some more recently). If they released one I would want it to be functional when they release it, and not a lol(insert random pet job insult here) until they can figure out how to make them work.
To do anything they would need to toss out the current armory system.. Seeing how anything that uses a "1 handed blade" is a gladiator... there goes your thiefs and ninjas. But maybe thats just because i don't like the current system at all.
I just want to see unique classes, not bastardized hybrids. Though dragoon does need a wyvern. That is missing.
I'd like to see a clear cut:
Warrior
Dark Knight
Theif
Paladin
Ninja
Ranger
Beastmaster
Dragoon
Monk
Samurai
Black mage
White mage
Red mage
Blue mage
Summoner
Maybe some new DoH classes, have a "trapper" that can use traps on beasts to get items as opposed to fight... or catch them to sell to beast masters...
There are lots of possibilities... once the bastardized armory system goes away... far far away
I'd like Pally back >: i miss it tons badass white armor, i think it'd be cool if Paladin got some attack holy magic.. like a holy version of a Hadoken or burning finger XD the power to smite foes >3
Primals seem more of the stuff of the bad guys/bosses, than summons(Though I guess you could say that of every summon ever....) I'd be fine if they don't add in avatars for summons, but instead used spirits, and expanded on it more than XI, where they were nigh useless.
I hope for a few things.
1) No pet classes. Ever.
MMO pet AI is always terrible, and unless they have a gimmick (e.g. Summoner's hateless BPs in FFXI) they are inevitably underpowered and in low demand. Balance says that the main class can't be as strong as a regular DD or else the joke of a pet will put them over the top and make them overpowered. But then they're balanced weaker and the utterly useless pet AI comes into play and they're still too weak.
I'm sure someone will jump in here with a loud, shouting defense of pet classes, but let's just save your breath. And just as a note - I quit about when the first cap raise happened, so I'm pretty much just concerned with 2004 through the end of the 75 cap. And yes, I hear Abyssea is pretty cool, but all the cool people worth playing with long since quit or were banned. Anyway...
-DRG: not really a pet class in FFXI. Balanced pretty much like any other DD. Wyvern made up for lack of innate damage buffs.
-SMN: Gimp WHM in XP parties. Used when hate control is more of a concern than raw damage output. If played exceptionally well, can be a decent hybrid between healer, buffer, and DD, but odds are even if you think you're one of the people who played it exceptionally well, you're wrong. And no, I don't care about soloing bombs for XP. No one, ever, in the history of FFXI said "man, we need more damage faster, let's invite a SMN" except on old school kited Kirins back in 2004.
-BST: lolBST. I had a lot of friends who were BSTs in FFXI, and once SE started buffing jug pets, they could compare to an average or slightly above average AH WAR in most any regime... if they were completely pimped out with the best gear available (e.g. Dusk +1). If the WAR had the same gear as the BST? lolBST. Most of my BST friends were intellectually honest enough to admit that they found the class tremendously fun, and solo'd very well, but in any multiplayer aspect of a multiplayer game, they were underpowered and a crappy choice over any real DD.
-PUP: lolPUP. I guess they weren't a total miserable waste of space if they had full Usukane and Stringing Pummel.
2) Balance the current classes before adding new ones. And if new classes are to be added, revamp the system so they are advanced classes based off current classes.
3) Lock down Dual Wield if it's ever added. Either a GLA-only trait to offset their pokey melee damage (WS damage isn't terrible, but if a GLA isn't tanking, they're not a big contributor right now. Or as a "dual sword" or "dual katana" weapon that officially only occupies the main slot, the same way a PUG's knuckles do.
4) Fewer, more distinct classes is preferable to a bunch of generic ones. Allow existing classes to specialize, and introduce new weapons for those specialties, while still keeping the number of overall classes low. Balance is paramount, and 4 or 5 identical DDs just means 4 or 5 people fighting to fill the same party slot. Right now there's a tank, a piercing DD, a blunt DD, a slashing DD, a ranged DD. That's plenty. Let those classes grow and specialize, and be the starting point for anything new that's added. And make sure the balance stays. There should never be a lolDRG, a lolBST, etc. Every job should be useful and in demand, and the easiest way to do that is not add 20+ battle jobs, especially right away.
Edit: So I guess given that framework, what would I like to see?
Samurai as an evolution of Marauder (how the lore on that would work... I don't know).
Ninja implemented somehow, but please not the same weird concept of an enfeebling DD with strong ranged attacks (and prohibitively expensive or unobtainable ammo). Maybe as an evolution of PUG?
A situation that lets CNJ nuke rather than be a curebot, or a specialization off CNJ a la BLM where they can nuke more efficiently and be a real alternative to a melee DD.
More pimp hats. Doesn't have to be RDM (no pigeonholing with MP regen please), but all MMOs need more pimp hats.
I really want to see a lot of the classes that where on that list,

As well as Classes like Dragoon complete with dragon, with dragoon if you guys add it, I'd like a lot more options with the dragon
Dragon Type
In XIV there are wingless dragons and winged dragons. Being able to pick your dragon from one of those two or more.
Personalization
Personalize your dragon, with what the wings look like or the color and if they would have spots stripes or something else.
Dragon Armor.
Armor you can have for your dragon partner. Crafters could make for your dragon and you could get better armor as you and ur dragon rank up.
Size
Based on what type of dragon you picked, the dragon increases and size as you rank up. Maybe look more badass as you lvl as well.
More When I think of it....
I think yes they can add job, but they can also redefine job. Ex.: I want my archer like ranger in FFXI
Some of my suggestions (from my Wanted list), just for fun ofc.
【 Classes: 】
-----------------------------------------------
◇ Beastmaster (Also option to rename Pets, Equip pet with some gear, Collar etc, Abilitys)
◇ Assassin / Thief / Ninja
◇ Summoner
◇ Angel / Demon Class (with wings, possibly ability to fly/hover for limited time,)
◇ Bluemage / Mimic (Type, that can use monsters spells)
◇ Samuraj
◇ Dark Knight
◇ Enchanter - Craftclass - Ability to enchant items / Gear / Weapons & Tools. (Craftclass, capture enchants via "Soulplates" maybe, then include those to craft. Boosts stats, Add dots, HP / MP steal / Auto-Regen, etc)
◇ Florist - Gather Class. (Gather floral, Seeds, etc to Grow in flower pots wich yields items) Much like in FFXI. (So ya we could use Mooghouse for that, or storage facility) - Lamest name ever i know lol.
◇ Treasure Hunter - Gatherer Class (Main Tool: Key & Offhand: Shovel.)
- Instead of using chocobo for digging, why not give a class a Shovel to dig for treasures, and maybe use key's to unlock chest (like FFXI treasure chests that spawns randomly in caves etc)
- Now, i used to be "THF" in FFXI & loved it so im no big fan of this last idea thou.
◇ ???? - Anything with a Whip! (no, not a Vampire killer class...lol) something more naughty!
Samurai FTW
am i the only one who wants to see Viking added? dual-wielding axes would be awsome lol
im pretty sure the next 2 jobs to come out are arcanist and musketeer, right? i mean the guilds are already there in limsa, they are already involved in the plot, and when youre in the guilds, you see the NPCs wielding the weapons.
that said, whats up with this? when are they coming out? any details?
I would loved all of the jobs from FFXI especially summoner. I thought the animation for the summon was amazing. I'd love to see it in this game, but even more amazing in animation!
All of the jobs from ff11 would be nice but it might be nice to throw in some classics like chemist or geomancer or something.
Geomancer sounds pretty awesome to me. I loved the Geomancer in FFIII.
I'd like to see a Fencer, personally. It was one of my favorite classes in Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, along with the Juggler. >.>
I'd like to see summoners. If the game needs more combat classes, it would be another caster. It would as well introduce a new mechanic to the game (which is important if you want to add a new class in the first place), pets.
Dancer please :3
I want a fencing class that use Rapier as wep, there are no other mmo with this class yet, I d like to see the class in here if possible
Samurai ftw.
In addittion a job that would match the current combat system and would be interesting, can be Pupetmaster. Everyone who at least tried it, will remember you had to spam actions in order to make the automaton more powerfull and since this system is about smashing keys.. why not?
Before adding new classes they should... I don't know... fix the ones in the game now that clearly don't work. And before you ask that naive question of which: its all of them.
I want a gunblade :)
I agree that the current jobs need some more work, but at the same time they should not wait too long to implement some new classes.
At the moment there are only two Mage classes, we need more.
Personally I'd love to see Bard implemented. We have no proper buff/support job at the moment and I know I miss playing Bard.
I would also like to see a damage dealing class that uses swords. Real swords and not a sword and shield combo. Great swords or Great Katanas.
I so don't agree with this. Two of the most silly aspects of the FFXI class system were just how many jobs there were, and how BRD was the only tier 1 job. Having jobs buff themselves is significantly easier to balance than adding one god class to buff everyone (and instantly become the most desirable job to have and, for most, the least fun to be pigeonholed onto).
I'm not, and have never been, a WoW player, but the much smaller number of classes in that game is a good design choice. They're not all basically redundantly filling the same few roles. There's a bit of overlap, but nowhere near as bad as in FFXI.
FFXI had way too many classes that could fill the same roles, and while it's nice for players to have some choice, there are better ways of accomplishing that than just adding a ton of redundant classes.
Believe it or not but some people actually loved playing Bard. And I actually liked the job variety in FFXI since the jobs all felt different. In FFXIV the jobs just all feel the same, it feels boring.
Most MMOs have a support/buffer job and there are players who enjoy playing these classes.
You are of course entitled to your own opinion, but there are people out there who loved all the distinctly different jobs in FFXI and who love playing support classes.
Oh! oh! oooh!
Class: RMT = Real Monkey Trainer!
They could add a "Jongleur" class, which historically is a lower class(poverty) entertainer, where as a troubadour was the high class counterpart.
It could be a mix between dancer and bard. I guess for ease of pronunciation they could just call it a juggler.
If i could choose one class it would be Summoner! ^~^
but im not sure how that would fit into the lore right now unfortunately T.T
I want Dark Knight PLS PLS PLS!!!!!
