Ive had the same issues in Bray Fox. Tank cant get out of the major hits, then bitches at you because you're oom from having to heal him from 20% health every few seconds.
Also Ifrit HM and people not dodging stuff or practically solo healing with without bard giving you mana song.

A few types of tanks that ruin every dungeon:
1. My first run of Qarn was with a tank that rushed at every enemy group while my mp was still at 20%. No matter how many times I said 'Take it easy, tank', the dude just rushed straight into everything. We arrived at the 2nd boss, the tank got himself killed and called me out extremely harsh on it, then left.
2. My 3rd run at Vergil's got me a tank that didn't spread agro. He just went straight for enemy A and while I was running from the other flying dragons. He got mad. Then he ragequitted.
3. Today, I was playing Dzamael for the first time. The tank didn't wait for my prt/stskn to be finished. Just rushed off. Everybody told him to slow down. Never even got to the 1st boss because we got wiped twice at the 4th mob group. Then I just left.
Honestly, I think it works better in a new team to cheer everybody on then to tell them they need to get cancer and die. that's wat tank #1 said at Qarn anyway. Never been to Qarn since.
I have a story about this WHM that is really making he hate WHM's, among other WHM's.... but I rather just leave it alone. Could easily have been a SCH, but this guy....... man First fight with a boss he spent the time /cheer ing, and then got hit by a frontal cone and insta died. Thats the last time I don't enter that dungeon as healer.. Had to ragequit that one :(
Well best way to tell if it is a bad healer they overheal, get aggro, oom and then the party dies.
But seriously, you SHOULDN'T Overheal at all, waste of time and mana, and if the tank didnt grab steady aggro on the mob you will get aggro. Heals Generate a generous amount of hate and as a fellow healer you should know about that.
Random queue for dungeon
-Got in, the whole run went smooth in brayflox
-Finally at last boss, Explain tacts and so on.
-Tank Eats every freaking frontal breath x4 stack,(but he manage to kite the boss out from the pool atleast, well more or less)
-Tank dies, Bard gets aggro, bard starts to kite the boss in every single pool of poison while i ress tank, i shout at archer not to kite and just stay out of the pools and tank the boss i can keep him up while ressing the tank if he not get hit by the aoe.
-Repeat the whole senarium for 10 min, and im about to go oom as schoolar, when i decide to give it up call it a whipe, (boss got full hp again)....
Start over, and it goes on for 5 tries, they doing the same freaking mistake the whole time. and after the sixth try we finally made it. o.O That was a horrible day, but I can say i really went full out and i finally knew that Schoolar healer is OP and cant go oom! :D
Got one from today. Was doing Titan for the first time, knew nothing about the fight, so we wipe a bunch. Tank only yells at me about it. At first, it was justified. The out-of-arena AOEs hit me a bunch then. But even when I was avoiding them like a champ, I was still the only person getting yelled at, even though one DPS was using zero skills (bard), got hit by AOEs every time, and usually died first. Eventually, I did a painfully dumb screw-up with my heals, so the tank went down and I left after we wiped.
Maybe I would've focused better if I didn't have a tank blaming me constantly - including for an AOE that killed me and the other DPS when he was trying to save me (it appeared exactly when the rock tomb thing broke, there was literally no way to avoid it at that point) - but I will admit that I have a pretty nasty cold so I really shouldn't have been doing a primal run at all. I sure learned my lesson there. At least now I know how to run it for next time.
... I think I went into Satasha a week ago with an almost similar experience. >.>; Although the glad tank was wearing his armor. But he never used flash and seemed to think he was a DPS.
I'm still trying to forget that experience. He wouldn't by any chance have a name referencing some blonde spiky haired kid now, would he? Because we might have just run into the same person.
What the heck, here's another story.
Running Haukke Manor, tank comes in and more or less admits that he's drunk (exact wording omitted to protect ... something, I'm sure). He proceeds to only use auto-attack and no skills, so the second mob at the very start of the manor kept rushing in and destroying me the second I start healing. Tank does nothing to stop it. After the third wipe (the guy even had the nerve to seem confused by me going down so quick!) from the same dang mob, DPS and I left to reroll a party on the duty finder. "Derp Finder" indeed. Anyone else get a literally drunk tank before?
There's nothing better than to see a new healer running an instance for the first time and have the tank expect him/her to know how to work a boss... 1-2 fails then ragequit. Now I'm from 1.0 and I chose to level ACN > SMN/SCH instead of using my WHM and BLM. All I have to say is Yoshi made these fights harder than they were in 1.0 and some healers need to be given the benefit of the doubt for a chnace at "learning" these fights. Either they end up as fail tanks or elitest jerks. Not saying there isn't any fail healers, just saying that for a game that just got relaunched some people expect too much. The easy mode for Garuda is definately harder than it was in 1.0. She didn't one shot a player in 1.0, I believe we were left with 25% health (at full HP but once again during easy mode). You also had more leeway when standing behind the rocks. Hard and Extreme were obviously different stories. It comes down to patients and most of the players on now, tanks especially, don't have it when healers need to learn a fight.
Not sure if this counts as horror but Tam-Tara where the tank did not notice for 30 seconds that a mob was attacking me but I was perfectly fine because I used to be a WHM in FFXI and this game makes healing way to easy so I do enjoy when things get a little chaotic and out of control because it makes it more interesting and less boring for me.
Duty finder to darkhold, find out a thm ( yes thm not even black mage) still wearing moggle cap and mixed of lvl 10-20 equipments. He saying he needs to do darkhold cause capped on the seals (fate grinding much? ). We end up run out time due to lack of dps...
Only done 2 dugeons so far but from my experiance I think alot of the issues stem from another MMO's dumbing down of dungeons. The people I chat with are all used to the zerg>faceroll>nice toys system. Now they need to pay attention and move out of the big red circle, keep threat on mobs, watch the healer incase a loose mob is pounding their face in and pay attention to their resource pool. All I can suggest is to try and help people out so if your tank is not able to hold aggro on more than 1 mob just tell them to use flash, try and get them used to switching though the targets so they hit them all while encouraging the dps to stay the right target so they dont pull aggro and the biggie is "see the big red circle of doom?", "dont stand in that". I am sure as I go though the game I will cause my fair share of wipes while I learn what is going on.
Tank telling me to run faster when I am getting attacked with low HP. Guess it's my job to manage my own hate after a certain point.
Doing temple of quan and watching the tank getting one shotted on mobs and healing the two monks in the group while resing the tank after the monks do the dirty work and running cuz the tank couldnt keep agro lol.
I dont know if this is a horror story, but yesterday at stone vigil pt, I got into duty finder with a MRD/WAR, he aggro 3 mobs and his hp sudden drop to 1/2, I heal him up and then another hits from mobs and he die and leave duty finder
My horror story is having come from bein cnj in beta and getting complimented. So knew how to heal and be a healer in say copperbell mines. Now for the horror... Come launch roll my 1.0 as an acn and get to copperbell... And watching the healer act as proximity puller through out the whole dungeon. We ask for healer to stop running ahead and aggroing everything before the tank... In retaliation healer goes and pulls whole room and proceeds to call us noobs... Last I checked healer particularly cnj is not a puller... Expecially a body puller, not even spell pull...
My story is partially my fault, but i will explain it anyways
So I was doing my second run of tam tara just to help out a group standing out side. we get to the 3rd group of adds and my doorbell goes off. Now at this point its worth mentioning that my doorbell is the most obnoxious sounding thing on the planet, and the person ringing it decided on the tactic of just holding it till I came to the door.we finish off the adds, I quickly type to stop and I was going AFK wilst I verbally abuse the fella at the door. I open said door, tell the person where to go, rush back (I was gone for about 45 seconds) only to find the whole group ragin because they died. I apologised but did say that I was going, during a quiet point, and they can obviously read the chat box.
unplugged the door bell since then
Last night, I decided to level up my Arcanist and do Satasha's.
I found a tank and another ACN. We were waiting in que for a healer about 20mins, and I kept trying to get the tank and other ACN to just ask for another dps so we could go and I'd heal. The tank didn't trust that I would do a good job so we continued waiting for a healer. We FINALLY got qued and we went inside.
The healer never cast protect, so I went ahead and did it. First mob, the healer goes into Cleric Stance and starts dps. tank is at 50% HP. No heals yet, so I went ahead and used Physick on the tank. I figured the healer just zoned out or wasn't paying attention/distracted for a sec. 2 groups of mobs later, I ended up taking on the healer role. -.- The healer would not heal anyone, and just kept DPSing. I decided to go ahead and take this chance to prove to the tank that I would've been perfectly fine healing if we had just gotten another DPS.
-cont on next post-
So we get to that part where there's lot's of rooms with treasure. The party does like 2 rooms, then heads to the boss fight. I tell them to wait and come back because there's still a couple more, but the healer ran in and initiated the fight. I got locked out before I had a chance to get there. Needless to say, they died within 30seconds because the healer wouldn't heal. =.=
Anyway, we went back and got the other rooms, then went to fight the little boss pirate guy or w/e, I healed, and we did perfectly fine. -skip to last room before boss- My Carbucle chases the pirate guy that runs away through the room without me knowing, and aggros all the mobs.
Snap.
Tank grabs all the aggro, and starts taking more damage than I can heal. The other arcanist sees the issue and starts healing as well. Next thing you know, I have all the aggro from spam healing, and I'm being chased around. I die. Healer still dpsing and not healing. SERIOUSLY? *tank dies* Aggro goes to other Arcanist, he sits there spam healing himself while, omg, no way! The healer actually used Raise on me? :O
-continued-
By this time the tank had already respawned and come back. We finished that room and went to the boss fight. I got out my topaz carbuncle to tank the ads, or else we would be toast. So during the fight, I'm closing the trap doors so monsters don't pop out, controlling a mini tank that holds on to the ads that I miss, and still somehow managing to find time to heal the tank and 2 Topaz Carbuncles. The healer, is still DPSing. WHYYYYY????? The boss' HP gets down to 20% and we have 5 ads chasing us around, I see that we have a level 2 limit break and use to kill the ads. Thank God.... Anyway, we finished the fight, the Arcanist says "Good job everyone!" and it took just about everything in me not to explode. We leave the dungeon, and i say to the tank "That healer NEVER healed, I had to do everything! @_@" Tank: "Lol yeah, I was getting really irritated" Me: "I told you we would've been fine with another DPS and me healing" Tank -no response-
Haha.
Two words... Paper tank .. Had to kite half of haukke manor... As WHM.
Four words: Last boss of Blayflox.
and the black mage in cutters cry the other day who did not pay attention to the color (whether to run close to boss or stay far away)
Dunno why so many people have to be ass-hats about getting advice. If we're having trouble and someone tells me I need to use flash more or target a specific mob first I thank them and do it. I don't know where all this "NUH UH GO DIE" blame game crap comes from. Are some of these players just so blind they don't even see what they do wrong when someone points it out?
Same for people who just rage that someone isn't doing their job right, but can't say what right is.
If you're bad at your job, accept the advice. If someone's screwing up, advice before blame. I wish I could have some of you posters end up in my party from time to time.
I think it is an alpha-personality type issue (men or women). Alpha personality types don't like to be wrong or questioned. Beta type are more likely to be followers (and maybe play healers, someone should study that :) ).
I had a similar experience in Haukke Manor, the tank was telling me don't you have cure ll, which I didn't then told me to kite the mobs????
This is a repost of mine from another thread but fits here too.
Average duty finder PUG-
'Stonerbro Potsmoke' The slowmo tank "I gotsta hit dis bong real quick bro!"
'Secksy Catbutts' The 13 y/o boy who plays the anorexic cat girl, and runs around like he forgot to take his ADHD meds "Gay! Suck! Fail! Penis!"
'Catbutt Secks' The counter part to the last titstick
The Catbutt twins will Leeroy Jenkins a room before Stonerbro even realizes he's been moved into a dungeon, much less added to a party.
Catbutt twins are now running around in a circle shouting "Gay! Tank Sucks! LOL! Penis!"
Stonerbro is following them Benny Hill style "Stop movin bro! I can't move and attack bro!"
I get frustrated chain cast heals till I get all agro and just stand in one spot healing myself while Stonerbro and the Catbutt twins dps everything down.
Catbutt Twins- "Lol! CNJ Suck! Tank Fail! Penis!"
Stonerbro- "wtf bro! lemme tank bro!"
This got my blood boiling. My first ragequit.
Halatali. I was ACN for FC member. First thing our tank does is run ahead and miss buffs, then tells us he is a Vit Tank and that it takes him time to build aggro, so DPS should wait before spamming.
Monsters shred the tank, and the healer (who was doing great) would gain hate. Tank never bothered to pull monsters off healer, we all die. Tank "didn't see" the healer was down. We spawn, tank aggros again when mages are at half MP and nobody has any buffs. I tell this to the tank, say please watch our stats, and tank says it will be fine. Tank ignores the fact the healer has two fire bombs on 'em, leaving only me alive to get everything down to one bomb before I die, too.
Tank blames the healer, then says if we don't want to play, he can leave. I lose my temper and tell him HA HA no. You want to play around with strategies, do so at later levels when you know how. I apologize to the healer, say I'm out, and leave with my FC member.
Just did stone vigil again.
41 paladin tank without shield oath.
Pulled a group of 3 enemies.
Gets tapped at first.
He's down to ~80%.
I start casting adloquium immediately since it grants the usual shield.
He died instantly within a 2 second cast.
I got on his case for not having shield oath at 41 and doing stone vigil earlier in the run, but I was at a loss for words when that happened. All I could say was 'wow'. I have never seen something like that happen before (tanks getting burped on by dragons doesn't count).
Wanderer's Palace second boss. The adds spawn and tank ignores them, so we wipe even though I told him before the pull to tank in the center and pick up the adds. So we try again, still doesn't pick up the adds then yells at me for running when the boss does his focus because the "adds don't hit that hard" and "running makes it hard for me to get them" even though I told him when the boss focuses he will one shot the person he picks if he gets to them. Then finally on the third try when I asked why he wasn't getting the adds...He asked me "Do you think I have magic? I can't get 4 adds maybe one or two but my class (Paladin) can't get 4."...I left, normally I don't and I actually like training groups but this guy was just to much.
I think it was Brayfox.
The first boss which spawns adds. Well the tank just stood there whacking the boss with me kiting the adds. I was down to like 121 mp while the boss still had a third of his health left. We just about scraped through the fight.
I have also noticed that most tanks are fine when it comes to tanking 1-2 mobs. Anything beyond that and I end up kiting the rest.
Which reminds that a tank pulled a group of adds killed the add he was tanking and then ran off to pull another group whilst I still had 2 adds killing me <angryface>.
In fairness, a lot of the tanks I have had have been great, but don't get me started on the damn Guildhests. They are just a complete nightmare.
My first experience healing, I had a tank who never once used Enmity generating abilities (let alone AoE ones) and never targetted adds. He'd pull a group of three, hit only one, and despite my prompting to use Flash never did. Even if I waited til he was on 50% health to cast Cure, I still pulled agro. I'd run politely over to him to make it easier for him to get them off me and he just...wouldn't react.
He even pulled a group, one agro'd on me after I healed him, then he ran away after killing the one he was focusing on to pull another group, leaving me with the add still smacking me in the face while I called for help.
In the same group, towards the end of the dungeon, the tank pulled one group, and each of the two DPS pulled a different group. Meaning we had three groups of enemies. And I got the blame for not keeping them all alive.
I actually almost considered not healing thinking I just wasn't cut out for it, but luckily have had mostly positive experiences since then!
Horror stories? Being paired with another healer that is oblivious to using the class effectively.
Take this one dude I was just in an Ifrit with earlier. I'm precasting and landing Cures on the tank. The tank takes a spike hit and I see the other WHM cast Benediction already. This was about 8 to 10 seconds into the fight. This guy had only casted Regen. When I called him out on it, he said it's the most efficient heal from the WHM tools, and while I agree, it wasn't efficient for spiky tank damage situations. He was pretty stubborn and felt he did the best he did but anyways, dealing with people who aren't playing properly and trying to shift blame or just deny everything is just an awful waste of time.
Along with if you leave the duties first you get this 15 minute deserter wait which means you're forcefed to play with these people until someone else takes initiative.
Main thing im finding is tanks letting adds beat on the healer constantly.I'm spamming heals on myself while running to the tank,im typing "Adds plz" all i get is "?"
You don't have to go into detail
It's either:
Muppets in group or just the twatfinder
