Assuming the server maintenance they made works out decently, I think we still might have a few instances of 1017 or 90k. Don't keep your fingers crossed though.
My numpad key soon needs to be replaced....
My Key token im using to login with will soon run out of batteries if this isnt fixed... Can we demand a new one? Since they arnt letting me play, but "forcing" (yes I can remove it,but like the security, been hacked once in FFXI b4) me to use this each time i log in...
And ofcourse this isnt OK for a Relaunch, but the positive is that servers are full = ppl like the game...
Judging but what I keep reading regarding the server concurrent population cap, this maintenance should enable them to finally allow us to start approaching the true intended max of each server. It's definitely not going to allow us all to access our characters at any time of the day 90% of the time we attempt a log-in, which I would consider top-shelf accessibility, but I imagine it's going to make the current 1017 issues a little more palatable for the more patient among us.
My server has 26k total users at last count, I think. It's pretty likely that 5k of those will be on at any given time even if most of them are active players. Granted, an AFK timer would make getting into queues a lot easier, but even with one I still think we're going to see the dreaded 1017 most hours of the day in North America. Right now, it's the nature of the beast that is the popularity of this game. I'm sure changes are coming, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the implementation.

I've been getting 1017 error since saturday, non stop.
Since I am definitely not going to roll yet another alt to go through the same quests again, only to have my new server 1017 on me after 2 days, I have actually been unable to play the game I'm subscribing for 72 hours. If this happened on a weekend, I could even be understanding, but being unable to log to my character since morning on a week day is more than I can understand.
Thing is while adding new server will help cause new players can go to those... We still will have TONS of players on the older servers which means problems could still go on. That's why they should allow those wanting to transfer to a new server do so.
Some players won't want to stay on a over crowded server and most won't want to start all over. So allowing transfers now would really help.
Uh, you might want to read them again, because it DOES state that they're increasing world capacity.

"...and increasing the concurrent number of logins allowed on each server."
I'm getting the feeling that most of those that are complaining doesn't even bother to read anything. How many have posted that SE IS increasing each world's capacity, only to have the next poster continue to make clueless posts that still assumes SE isn't, I guess reading what other people wrote in the same thread is just too stressful and requires too much effort.
I can tell you right now that they will lose alot of players if not fixed sometime soon.
well if this isnt fixed now it will be fixed after free period when players quit so its all fine for me lol ill still play unless they shut the game down. but i do hope they fix it so they dont lose anyone
If there should still be login errors left that makes u unable to enter the game, i'll quit.....i have soooo enough of that and their damn $%&% apologies, after 2 weeks its at a breaking point for me.......
Honestly reverse the all worlds duty finder into just searching for people on the current world that you're on because that will just make things far more stable. The only reason they are not allowing us on the server is because they are scared of breaking the duty finder again but anybody who played FFXI has no problems doing the old way of searching and since people can just level sync they could easily ask for people from there Free Company to join them for the dungeon.
They can't fix this. They screwed up the infrastructure to the point that it needs a good month to be re-designed and setup again. If they up the server population cap they will cause the Duty Finder and instances to crash again like they did during early access.
Given that Yoshi P specifically said they be cautious bringing everything up after maintenance I'm fairly sure we'll see some 1017d early on. What we'll also see is people logging in the second servers come up, getting 1017ed and immediately spamming the forum with flame posts.
FYI the game is 1 WEEK old not 2. Beta 4/EA issues were slightly different. One error code is a symptom that can have many different causes. The launch isn't acceptable but the response is so far. I support the dev team even if their bosses are idiots.
I'd bet that 1017 is still around next year even. It won't be nearly as bad, but 1017 is not going away forever.
Fingers crossed I won't have to spam the "0" button on Wednesday.
I'm not sure how it all works, but I'd rather see a queue line of 1000 before I see the 1017 message. Pretty clueless on the network side of FFXIV, but yeah, this way I'd at least know I could go watch TV for 15 minutes then come back to play. Beats the time out of spamming 0.
If the game is not fixed in the next 3 days, i'll quit from all SE products. No jokes, no kiddies, no rages... just ill move to another game where europeans are important (like japanese are in this game).
Yes, I do expect that we'll have 1017. Part of the good timing for the patch is that the JP region will be in its prime time when maintenance ends. SE said in the announcement they would be very careful about how many people they allow in at first. They need to control things so they can monitor the new system under load, and determine its actual safe maximum capacity:
I have faith that everything will be fine by the end of the week! :)
Well call it wishful thinking...
i can not log in since yesterday!!! no matter what i try, viva la revolution!!!
Per today's Maintenance notification from Yoshida.
"To resolve this issue, we will be performing maintenance from September 3, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. to September 4, 2013, at 3:00 a.m (PDT), for the purpose of increasing the number of available Worlds, reducing stress on the Duty Finder servers, and increasing the number of concurrent logins allowed for each server."
Totally agree, I'd be willing to xfer my toon to a new server if it meant I could log in when I wanted to play. The fact is I'm 50, with a few 20-30 crafts and I'm not willing to scratch everything I worked for already. I'm on adamantose and I don't see this maintenance fixing the problem.
As it stands I've had a simple num0 macro spamming for the last 3 hours with zero success
