NA/EU Servers Offline

Japan does not celebrate Labor Day...they celebrate International Workers' Day and it is on May 1st. -.-

the thing that surprises me is that they did not have the mainframe to deal with this. Surely you would had thought that se had an idea how may people were going to be hitting the servers and should had prepared for that by having several backup realms on standby. Yes the game is good but planning has been very poor, lets hope maintenance resolves this on Wednesday.

This is ridiculous. I finally managed to log in today for the first time. It lasted 3 min.

No more free play please, that is why you have so many fuckin problems.

I'm possibly one of the most patient people out there specially when it comes to video games, but even this is getting on my nerves. FIRST and foremost, SE needs to implement the 5m of no activity = afk boot. IP ban upon all people who are gil selling, you have enough evidence as hell 50+ ppl report a single person for selling...chances are that's what they're doing. And finally, you guys had done a p4 beta WAY to close to launch to fix these issues. What should have been done is create an over amount of servers, required amount of ppl per server, once X server filled up, close it so not to cause this 1017 error. I've gotten that for 3 days now, tried logging in at all times of the day, night, to even include a midnight thru 5am login session to get the same 1017 bullshit. This launch, how you took precautions for this game is ranking right up there w/ the release of SimCity and Diablo III. Just terrible

What if you have to pee or get a snack?
5 minutes is really freaking harsh.
Most games have it at 30 minutes, 15 if the queues are really long.

Here's just hoping the new servers fix the problem. I would be nice if SE offered a 1 time free world transfer option for those people who had friends that were unable to create characters on the same worlds.

Oh, and yeah, 30 min AFK maximum. That is plenty of time for anybody for is legitimately AFK and not just place holding to come back.

Phisen... 5 mins is ridiculous. Ever played an MMO before?

Either way. The larger server capacities should fix this tomorrow. If they dont.... well, then they did it wrong. Like many things they done in the past. Nothing surprises me at this point.

Good point. Another example of how JP has priority over EU/NA.

So I figure that I'll see if I can beat the 1017 / NA/EU server list boss. My Malboro NA world character shows up... Crossing my fingers I log in... ONLY 14 people in queue in front of me!!!!! I wait with bated breath for my chance to play a little bit... 1017 :mad: retry... NA/EU world list cannot be retrieved!!! :mad: SE you are a group of sadistic expletive deleted!!!!

I am actually in the game right now and there are more people standing around AFK then there are active players.

I for one would be happy to take my chances on trying to get in again if they would just do a complete reboot of the servers to give everyone who has been trying to get in a fair shot at playing.

3 hours trying and still no luck :/

The real issue is not kicking afk'ers and a faulty queuing system. If there were more of a revolving door of players the current capacity may be exceeded, but at you could sit in a queue for a few minutes and that would be that. People wouldn't complain as much if there were some idea of how long the wait would be. And we wouldn't be DDoSing your servers trying to get in ... and the lobby server / NA / EU world list missing errors wouldn't happen.

My hourly rate is $150 SE man up and let's get this done.

Not being a jerk or anything but that's a completely stupid statement, MMO games with "proper" support have support staff around the clock 24/7. Employees are even sometimes payed time and a half if they choose to work on holidays, just because it's Labor Day then entire world doesn't shut down so people can have cookouts.

We have seen a number of players bitch about the lack of support here, so to make the claim of "proper support" knowing that there is no support even here on the weekends is kinda moot

I think that's an excellent idea. just do a server flush and the people who are AFK or have been for hours and hours will be taken off and gives people a chance to log in, because the AFKers wont even realize they've been removed.

Again I am fully aware that SE is a JP comapny, but it seems that noone is looking at :

In observance of Labor Day, live support via the North American SQUARE ENIX Support Center will be closed on September 2, 2013.

Live support via the SQUARE ENIX Support Center will resume at 9:00 (PDT) on September 3, 2013.

FINAL FANTASY XI and FINAL FANTASY XIV GM support will continue to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We thank you for your understanding.

Also I'm sure that the JP staff will get those days off for thier respected holidays, and I'm 99% sure that if and when there is an issue in the game the forums will be filled with players bitching and crying and what not that the staff should not have a single day off and that holidays aren't allowed so long as the game is up and running. This is clearly a no win situation for anyone.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but because they are eu na servers there is no quiet time....its prime time in one of the time zones no matter what time you play (for the most part)

im a patient person, il admit that but i have to agree with some of the peoples posts here.

it is rather amusing how, you click start and you get 1017 even before you select a character

its amusing how you try to log on and in a split second it tells you that the NA/EU servers are not connecting yet it takes forever for the JP servers to time out and even when that happens you run the risk of getting a 2002 error

all we can do is keep trying and wait for tomorrow to see if things get fixed

After trying all day, I find I have been able to get on around 10pm to 11pm PST. Usually, I just play until I pass out. Rest assured though, my comp has an idle timer so it kicks me when I do. It wouldn't be decent of me to just sit there and not let anybody else play.

its a bit weird they sometimes come up and you can being the 0 spam but then go away, I even got into a queue of 148 but 2002 after

I just wish they'd be more open with details. If there's no chance to get on in the near future, just tell me so I don't waste my time.

But, if it looks like the servers are up, I'll just keep trying...

They go up and come down. I just want to say, that since the 3102 "fix", login issues have steadily increased. I realise that there's an upgrade coming to mitigate 1017 coming via more servers but they can't even get the NA/EU group list to show up properly. Is this to give the login server a break from our login attempts, maybe so people who are going to less populated worlds in different group can get on without hassle? No rest for the wicked SE. Rather than deny masses so that some people have a smooth time, allow as many people to get on as possible and keep watch over the systems so that as soon as there is a true issue with the login server you can quickly reset them. Inform the community that you're doing this. All the while preparing for the server centre upgrades.

Thats because the servers are up. They have been up all day in fact. I know most of us cant get in when we want, but for me persistence has allowed me to play every day. Yeah it sucks to have to go through the cycle over and over again, but I do eventually get in to play as I have been doing all day today. I'm off now so you can join. :)

Why do you feel that posting REQUIRED is a requirement to answer your questions? These issues have already been addressed, it's the same one as always. It looks like they are shuffling JP and NA/EU servers so that SOME people can still play. Being arrogant and demanding that SQ absolutely answer YOUR questions right this instant does not help the matter at all
