Your going to be leveling them seperately so yes, any time you spend on your tank or whatever will be time that your not getting exp on your dragoon. This isnt bad though, its nice when you play with friends and need a different job to complete something and you are able to change class real quick to help out.
Personally I play a PLD, BRD and working on my CNJ right now. They are all fun, at least try each job up to lvl 10-15. Even if you dont feel like continuing you will have their starting abilities to use crossclass and help out your main class.

My suggestion is to level a tank and dragoon together.. Essentially this will slow your chance of reaching end game soon but if you are not in a rush then you will be fine.

Alternatively, you can level lancer exclusively until 30 and use crafting/fishing/DOL as something to do while waiting for a queue. Just remember for you to be a dragoon you will also have to lvl Pugilist to at least 15.

I actually plan to level all to level cap in this game, seems interesting with the cross class skills :) Can I have multiple jobs though? Like, is it possible to have all jobs on one character? The way it's worded on sites makes those specialisations seem a bit more exclusive..

Yes one character can level all classes/jobs to 50. There are no need for alts.

i dont find queues long in duty finder... i play mainly as archer currently n max wait time for me is around 20-30mins,,, just continue questin/fates etc while in duty time goes fast :3

There are 2 reasons for alts: Different Starting Out City / Main Quests, and Differing Grand Company Quests.

Expect long ques if you play dps. All MMO's share this same problem.

I think these are like match making where they get all the players from all server into that event only, after that they go back.

I believe the issues with the length of wait times on the duty finder was explained in Yoshi's most recent post/apology and that along with the server fix's within the week, they're working on the fix for the duty finder as well.

I have to work full time and deal with family issues every day but I still did plenty of time to play. As go the duty finder I have yet to see a problem with it since I'm playing on jp servers till the na servers an be fixed and expanded. There are plenty of English speaking people but if u can't find any able to do the dungeons I need ATM the df works great. I even managed to cut down on my wait time by selecting all languages and to join runs already in progress if possible. I play a thm and tho in a slow leveler cause I like to take my time I went and raised arcane at to lvl 6 and got its healing spell onto mh thm so that I can help a party of thy need a healer until one shows or the healer needs help cause they arnt used to a healing class yet. Just today I ran with a party that didn't receive a healer till the second attempt at the boss cause its mob took me out at the last few percent of health to win. Just cause ur a dps class don't mean u have to have long waits.
