Visa failed..... with ultimate game card failed again..... Oh...my day off.....
The Digital Sales are on halt for a while now, I think that's why this is happening as the availability of copies available for redeem are less.
I've been getting this error since before the halt on sales. I believe its the account lock. I'll try and contact support next week when everyone stops nagging them about error 1017 which is a stupidity. Those people don't let customers with a legit problem like ours ask questions. It sucks but I hope with the addition of the new servers people call support a bit less and we can get contact.
Perhaps its due to the account being on the "free trial" basis, when the actual account starts to get billed or converted via the use of game time cards, I feel it will be back to normal. Just speculations. Im going to test it tomorrow by purchasing a 60 day time card
Well they better allow us to purchase the CE upgrade once my month and a half ends. But that is entirely too optimistic. Everyone in my FC was able to add their CC information, upgrade to digital CE and purchase crysta just fine with no errors. If it was because of the free trial a lot more people would be in here complaining that they can't input their CC information and upgrade their account.
I got a response. Surprise! It was a form letter blaming the bank for declining the charge, even though I clearly stated that they are declining multiple different cards and that my bank has already communicated that there has been no block on it.
This is ridiculous! Was it an e-mail back response, live-chat or a call? I always get automated lame replies to e-mails, if I get one at all.
I've tried three different cards from different banks and all of them gave me the 401 error. I think it's pretty clear that it isn't banks doing it.
It was email. The one piece of useful information was that if a form of payment is declined, then all attempts to use that form of payment are automatically rejected for 24 hours. It wasn't clear, but maybe this means if one credit card is declined then all will be rejected for 24 hours. Seems strange because it seems like they'd block you if you typoed the number if that was the case. So perhaps they meant only that one card gets blocked for 24 hours.
In any case, this doesn't apply to me though since all forms of payment get rejected for me. But maybe it'll help someone if they tried all their cards in the same day (which a normal person would do).
But even if I try now I get the error. If its the bank its weird because my card is not blocked at all and I spoke to my bank advisor and they didnt block anything.
I got the same problem here. Getting Error:401 when trying to use credit card to upgrade to CE edition. Moreover, I do not have any option to add crysta in my account. I contact the SE support for more than 5 times but all tickets are canceled by them without any help.
At least you got through. I hope that now that this thread has many replies to it it will become an important issue and someone will have a look at it. I've been trying to contact support. Today I got the UK support number and if I can get through to them maybe I can get some help on this. I'll post whatever it is they tell me after I call them.
I have the exact same problem.
Trying to upgrade to CE and getting Error 401.
Tried VISA, MASTERCARD and even Carte Bleue (as I'm French).
I also wonder if it can be related to the trial period.
I am also getting the 601 error. It doesn't seem like a ridiculous amount of people are getting this error though but I am sure its not related to my computer because I tried to have my brother sign up for me and he also gets the error. Different cards don't work as well. I believe my account itself is bugged. Does anyone have the NA support number?
I received those errors because of a Firefox addon I use called "NoScript". It was blocking the card processor after I entered the card information. I was unable to simply allow the processor's code, so I just set it to "Allow Scripts Globally (dangerous)" until the card was registered. It went right through without a hitch.
Waiting in chat support queue for over 3h only to be met with "There are no agents available to chat with you right now. Please try again later". It sure would have been nice to know that beforehand.
I'm to the point that if nothing comes out of the email that I submitted last week, Im just going to cut my losses and move on.
Well everything is down for maintenance today, a long one at it. Let's just hope that works out grand after it.
I was able to contact phone support today, who stated that 401 and 601 are billing errors and that I should try contacting my bank. After stating that I contacted my bank, the rep asked if I still had free trial time and stated that I wouldn't be able to set a sub until that time expires. When I asked about the 401 error when trying to upgrade, the rep stated that this maybe the case because I tried the same payment method a few times and that I should give it a week before trying again as they have a locking system in place that will enforce a 24h lock on payments after a failed attempted and if tried repeatedly will add an other 24h lock.It was also suggested that I use a different card but that isn't really an option. Anyway I'm going to speak with my bank again and retry the upgrade in a week or so and see what happens.
That doesn't sound very promising... sigh
None of that makes sense. All my FC mates were able to upgrade with a free trial, same with my dad and friends. That cannot be right. I don't think they know anything.
The very first thing I did with mogstation was go straight for upgrading to CE, and I got 401 error.
Yeah it doesn't really address the 401 error. Interesting enough, I got a reply from email support today as well. Pretty stating the same thing that phone support said.

I too received the dreaded email today. I told them I have updated my billing address and credit card info and I can use the card for everything, EXCEPT SE OF COURSE. I just want to pay for the game. After reading the whole game time card thing and all the issues caused there, it seems that they just make billing such a hassle nowadays.
I want to buy Crysta and I get an error. I want to use a credit card, and I get an error. I want to pay for the game I love, but it's a little hard to do that when they blame billing errors on your bank card. I've tried 4/6 cards and they all get the same error, and I use them just fine everywhere else, so at this point I am absolutely clueless as to how to pay for my account. I am hoping come Sept 14th my account isn't shut off, because then I will really be pissed. We're military stationed overseas, and SE doesn't support APO addresses (because nobody in the military EVER plays video games.. /sarcasm) so it makes no sense. It's really, REALLY getting frustrating though.
Also I've tried using a VPN service and having someone from the US (in the physical billing location) use my card as well - nothing. I've tried Visa and MC. For them to continually say it's a problem with my card is balls, because I JUST PAID FOR SOMETHING without issue. Without one small tiny issue. It's NOT my financial institution - it's clearly something on their side...
You are absolutely right on this. I have tried 4-5 different cards and yet this problem still exists, the problem is not with my card, despite them saying it's the bank's fault, the bank says it's the receivers end. If some online gun store will accept my credit card payment then I don't see where the problem lies with my end. I've kept telling them the problem is on THEIR END, yet they keep rerouting it to the problem saying that the country is the problem, the card is the problem, or the account region bullshit. I lost it at some point I had asked for a support rep that actually made more sense than some off the book bs that I've heard every rep say now.
The only countermeasure I did was buy the time card online, they would deliver the code to your email, use the mogstation to input the time card, and this seemed to work for me.

But now another BS problem arises. I want my CE, at the same time my time says 90 days yet im only entitled to the 60 days rewards. BS.
I ended up buying crystas via ultimateplay with paypal, and it worked like a charm.
I got 601 every single time I ever tried to subscribe with my CC in the past, and is why I was using click and buy when they had it. Still get it and thus had to use ultimate pay to upgrade my 1.0 to CE and set up a subscription, the same exact way Elendir did. Their system is just full of flaws.
Where do you go to add crysta with an ultimate game card I cant find it any where and this error is a pain any help is appreciated

It's Sep, and I am still getting error 601 to pay for my subscription. Why do SE have to make me go through 1017 and now 601.

I finally gave up and went online and purchased a game card code, and it worked, it costed US$2 more than usual for a 60 days game card, but I guess I don't have a choice.
