Grand Companies

There is a ton of gear in the game that's being worn by the NPC's. If it's already in the game why can't we craft it and wear it? /sigh

awesome post. SE is really pulling out some great content.

The artwork makes me think of Linkshells having their own flags..that would be really awesome riding around on your chocobo with your linkshell flag billowing in the wind above you for whenever you wanted to show it off. Linkshells just need more symbols/designs first!

Maybe the other flags on the illustration imply player companies? maybe some future feature

the admeril is a reo chick she don;t have the elf ears and have the similer reo nose. And the hair looks similar, I like. :) now release a hidden male mi'qote pic >.>

I really dont get it. They release information on companies but completely leave out what exactly they are.... all we know are a back story.... :( kinda lame imo. They should have told us what they were along with the story.

She's an Elezen, in the character creation you can give them smaller ears and the nose is kinda strange because of Yoshida's art, his noses are always particular.

I really doubt they would put a female roegadyn in game so early.

Maybe they'll update the page with gameplay info tonight.

i wonder if its gonna be similar to salaheem's sentinel's from XI, where in this case you join a company and they ask you to do mission for them, maybe against the Garleans or type of besiged or invade force to the garlean controlled area where players would gather up and go as a force(like assault or garrison). :D

also wonder if you would need to register into the company as a single class(ex LNC/ARM/MIN) and u get task depending on that.. like repair damaged cannons on ships or gather repair materials etc, sort of getting the feeling that the company is like your nation's force... my imagination is running wild :/

We are getting this feature added today. Obviously they will let us know in the update details once the servers go down & they release it on lodestone/forum.

Honestly.

It's clear that they want us to experience it first hand mainly. Also, Yoshida said that the GC page will be expand with content as it's released.

i am not sure if the companies are added tonight, i think only some introduction quests will be added?

actually even the smaller ears were noticable through the hair. And most sea wolf clan females are into sailing in politics... perfect for an the LL grand company. Plus it really looks nothing like a dusksomthing elf person.

Believe it would be this patch. Unless they are inconsistent. It wasn't listed in the Patch 1.17 Outline (04/12/2011), but that also specifically said it was a "brief outline".

I believe it is this update today. Otherwise they wouldn't bother with this teaser.

I think good ol Merl is a Roegadyn female as well. As well as Kan, leader from the Twin Adders, is a female of the summoner kind of breed like from the Gridania storyline. (We have only seen males of these so far and they only seem to be young boys.) Then there is Raubahn from the Immortal Flames that looks like a Highlander, in my own opinion.

I hope you automatically belong to the company in the city you started in. If not 90% of the players are going to end up with the Uldah company >.>

I think today will be the day i find the will to log back in :) Maybe find a living Linkshell while I am at it and make friends who actually play haha.

Am I the only one excited that SE chose Raubahns name as a possible throwback to the XI Immortal Lions leader; and now hes the Ul'dah Grand Company leader of "The Immortal Flames"? :)

I'm curious if "Grand Companies" even matter. I'm more interested in player Company's and if they will level up, offer bonuses, player titles, how they'll work, etc... etc...

Woo, I think this is the first time we've seen a female Padjal. I like those horns! Kinda makes me hope SE makes them a playable race at some point.

I get the impression that belonging to a grand company is going to be very similar to belonging to a city-state in FFXI. I think this is supposed to finally give us a sense of belonging to a city-state. I hope they'll have something relatively similar to conquest, I liked that we could take control of certain areas and buy items from quartermasters.

1003 is Companies and its in the 1.17 patch notes whats so hard about that?

ya its a roe female I'm on the ps3 and zoomed in on the picture. Elezan have protruding ears that jet or from the sides their earlobes are not rounded. On closer inspection that female has a rounded earlobe that is more human like similar to roe males. Also Elezan are tall but lithe, the female looks more muscular. She is also in the pic with the chocobos as you can tell she is more muscular stronger arms etc.

Personally I don't really like that part :/ I know this is something irrelevant, but I don't like MMO that puts only you in the center of the storyline, like you're the only hero... like in XI when you were told you were the only one able to call a wyvern, or the only one able to summon Fenrir but then everyone could do that :D I would like it much better if the storyline treated you as someone in a group of heroes. I guess it's something pretty hard to do, but if I remember well Guild Wars storyline was sort of like that (at least the first campaign).

I feel like they're really hinting at something here. Chocobos are obviously directly involved with Companies and even better- they wear armor! Maybe the quests introduced with today's patch will allow us to start training a Chocobo or something for the coming war. That would be sweet.

Did you miss the dev tags in the post the other day? Dev tag 1003 is for Grand Company quests. Exactly why they're teasing it ~12 hours before it goes live.

Don't get your hopes too high. =) They've had chocobos in storyline and in game but we don't have them yet still. It would be nice but considering all they've been working on, I can't say chocobos are probably ready yet. But, I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.
