That and we don't know when the next letter is. Whereas we know for sure Company info is next week.

Yeah I agree that in this case it is translation delay as much as anything. The other side of it is Yoshi-P's honesty. He always seems to be brutally honest, even when it comes to adding information that is disappointing or unfortunately vague. Sometimes I almost wish he would just feed us processed PR so that less people would have something to misconstrue, but I think in the long way his honesty will help the community.
PS: Yay company info next week!
I want to know what he plans on doing for crafting! Please make crafting less painful. Less sp required! Thanks!
crafting is awesopme as it is. no changes needed <_<
On the subject of easter it says that they have heard our cries and will not release the easter patch this year, bad news is they also won't be realeasing 17a or any more patch's till next year when they do release it as they don't want to go back on their words about it being in the next patch.
We so excited, we so excited.
I will wait for the official translation because Google Translate absolutely blows, I can't tell if they mean 'We will release it NEXT WEEK' of 'We will release it WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK'. Depending on how bad google translate is.
Sucks about the company info....but great about belgian, have fun with mortal kombat.
If Google Translate hasn't failed me (which it probably has), these "upgrades" to armor and/or weapons that were mentioned earlier in the thread are created using what's tentatively being called the "Materia Craft System" or something to that extent. The upgrades themselves would possibly be called "Manastone" or "Materia" based on this quote from another player:Quote:
最終的に修理は、前述した「マテリアクラフトシステム(仮称)」と併せて、
バランスが取れるようになると考えています。
Very interesting indeed. :DQuote:
マテリア・・・魔石・・・なんだか懐かしくほっこりした気分になりますね!
woot materia! I hope so.
Please take the VII out of my XIV.
I think they went with some VII-esque stuff is back a few months before the game came out an article came out saying they wanted to attract FF rpgers instead of just the XI people. Go read a forum of just people who played FF rpgs, and what they said about XI or XIV getting a number in the series, they are vicious and ignorant, why attract them lol. I miss when mmos didn't try to attract the masses. Heres hoping ffxiv sucking hard for a bit will make it a good community (like XI or Age of Conan, that game might not be great but AoC has a great community because the game sucked hard for two years and all the people who didn't really want to play gtfo)
The problem with adding FFVII aspects is now the fan boys will come in waves of Clouds styrfe and Sephiroth Mamasboy
so in other words....nothings going to change?
One of this game's NPCs already made a comment on the new "Materia Craft System":

I skimmed over this topic a bit, but does something need to be translated? I could look at it after class.
from what i understoon using google is they want to make crafting more fun and profitable. they seem to want to redo recipes to be more fun to do by revamping what/how many mats are used. Plus the matria manastone which sounds like ff7s system meets ff11s system. And ff11 had manastone thiggies that had like +hp +mp + attack etc. it wasn't that limited only on what you can augment, and level.
But ya an official translate will be nice :)
ok so, my japanese isn't top class but maybe i can provide some information that has not been mentioned.
In his post, Yoshi-P says that information regarding grand company will be released next weekend.
In the the 2nd part, he mentions that the development team is working on both the economic system and the battle system at the same time and he plans on talking about these changes in his next letter.
He also mentions that what they are working on will greatly change the play style for all the jobs and each of the changes are closely connected to each other, (not sure what he means). because of this, he doesn't want to release partial information(information on just one of the changes)because if he did, it will lead to random guessing in regards to the changes.
**Edit**
it might seem like the changes are all over the place, (such as quests, travel, combat, crafting, rather then just one system) but in fact the changes are being done to better balance the game overall since what they are doing is pretty much renovating the whole game.
**Edit**
again, my japanese is pretty bad so might be alot of mistakes. this is what i understood when reading his post(also this is just the translation of the first post in the OPs link)
Lmao! SE is pulling the FFVII card, now we know it's bad
From what various forums have posted on this, the jist of what Yoshida's saying is
*some recipies are too complex
*battle system changes are not the only ones in the works
*company info next week end
Also his post above the one we're all talking about seems to be a joke about having patience :)
This is only what i can gather indirectly.. It'd be awesome if we could get someone to translate.
It sounds like something really cool for the customization, but I really don't know if the economy would benefit from it :/ this could cause a lot of confusion for the newbies. I hope the official translation can give us more info.
I really wouldn't call it honesty, he's always vague and it's starting to get annoying... but again, waiting for official translation.
I hope you misunderstood, cause otherwise this must be a joke, in 6 months we've never had even a sign of life during the weekend... unless Yoshi-P don't decide to post something only on the Japanise forum and then we won't have a translation till monday (yes it is silly, but I blame him because he can't speak english, IMHO it's something essential for someone doing his job, actually I blame everyone who can't speak english in 2011, but that's OT)
About the useless changes... well that's not a problem, after they increased the mobs' size, they added the aggro mark and now we know they'll increase the animations' size... we won't be surprized.
SO TRUE.
I played on an RP server, i should of said that, it would make my community a bit different. I don't actually RP, but I have a deep distrust in gaming community that attract 15 year olds so I chose the RP server, and the community there was older and more mature like FFXI (not at the moment, don't play XI now thinking they have a mature fanbase :/ so sad, not saying XI had an overwhelmingly mature playerbase but no other game in the world would someone cure you at level 10 randomly when you were about to die, some of this is gone in XI now)
I just thought it was a better community base than lets say WoW or DCUO (i played that game until 15 year olds overtook it with their "lulz0r newb meet me at wayne enterprizes (they can't spell)", and that was almost verbatim. So yeah sorry, didn't meant to overgeneralize AoC my experience is a bit different than the average.
