You should keep your system maintained but the framerate issue goes beyond that. The game is not well optimized, this isn't just isolated issues on the users end.

Most of the time it is, and I've played many MMOs, stalked many support forums and time and time again, it's always, "oh, oops, I forgot to do X or I didn't do Y". You're giving too much credit to end users if you haven't worked in an IT support capacity before.
And the fact that I see so many players, both on locked servers (when I lucked out in the early mornings to log in) or on JP servers, with level 40s and very progressed professions suggest that this isn't a massive issue either. I would guess that many people haven't updated any drivers for the past few months, given that many people probably don't play a lot of other games, or games that will tax their system.
You'd be surprised at how many players almost *never* update their PC. They just think things will magically work if they wish hard enough.
The problem here is your assuming it isn't and being ignorant to the fact that people who maintain there systems are having very bad framerate issues. Chat was filled with people on 600-700 series Geforce cards having this issue. There are threads before tech forums were flooded with threads about players not being able to log in, about how players who were perfectly fine in beta had there framerate drop severely. The only way I would have known to force my CPU to full load all the time, was by monitoring every part of my computer when I played.
The thing is this is not something as simple as drivers as there are people with high end rigs I know who have a similar issue with dropping fps and insanely high GPU temperatures. through beta weekend we've been trying to find a solution and nothing has worked. Sweeping this under the rug and putting the blame on the user is insane, and the you're doing it wrong attitude isn't helping anyone.
I doubt it's a player's end issue. I maintain my PC very well, I played several games for several hours in this last year without a single hiccup in my GTX 680, fully updated. Beta P2~P3 were extremely fine, really smooth and rock solid high fps rate.
I clean all the computer once a month, monitoring all the temps and everything was so fine, but when it comes to P4 client and EA, huge FPS loss without no reason! In random places, regardless of player number and activity.
I can, in the end, be a player's end issue but I REALLY DOUBT it since it happens ONLY with FFXIV:ARR and only after the P4 client was installed. No other game have performance issues. Also, I scored 13k+ in maximum in benchmark.
I surely can't explain, I only believe that the game is not optimized for nVidia users, as many said before.
No news in this matter?
on an i7-3770 gtx670 ssd corsair gt yesterday and during last beta was all finewas all fine, today after maintenance and i think they patched something after 20min all goes to shit, after close the game I have to reboot the computer too, the lag persit to the desktop, only on max setting.
