Even still, you should hope that they can iron out the more unsavory errors in the beta so the game can work right when it's brought to the consumer.
Not saying you should be angry and unsubscribe or anything that extreme, but it's good to hold them accountable.

i have waited for a long time to play again and i can wait for Square-Enix to kill some bugs and flush some errors.

I don't usually bother staying up until 4am for MMO servers to start up, but I wound up being sick (night before a 9 hour shift that I'm currently less than 2 hours into, yay!) so I wound up being awake, so I decided to try my luck in logging into the game from my PS3 for the very first time right as 4am hit, when the servers were gonna get hit with going from empty to OMGWTFBBQWAFFLES!, and had 0 issues. No log-in queues, nothing. Played for a couple hours, relogged just to see if I'd hit a population queue, nothing. (this when the server had a lengthy queue around the same time of night as when they brought our servers back up near the end of phase 4) I got right back in with no wait, no lag, I could jump out of those AOE rings just fine, didn't get disconnected. On a PS3

Then I log in later in the morning after I get to work, same thing, no queue, but I hear about the duty finder issue and that's it. For an early access/early launch, that's pretty damn impressive to me compared to the other MMO's I've been in since beta. So, all that's left for me is wondering:

Whining + Ball dropped = Irony?

It's because the JP rules :) the rest is the rest, after all it's a JP company ^_^

It’s amazing how people react of things like this, have you ever played an MMO before? Have you ever played an early access before? Things like this are expected and happen with almost every MMO I played.

I even expect worse than this, look how crowded the starting zones are, some MMO’s would crash every minute.

We have a solid game and running smooth, that’s the important thing.

SE got cheap with hosting EU/US servers, its just as plain and simple as that.

the Japanese aren't having these problems.

Cope with another mmo. Eve Online's space sandbox keep me busy till the servers are up again. They got 3 days till the real launch. Don't make this worse than v 1.0 SE.

Not just better than 2004. Significantly better than 2004. As others have said, this is very good compared to other releases. If you're expecting perfection at a time when the servers (and their ISPs) are seeing significantly higher traffic than they will probably see on any other day, then you've got your own issues.

Feel free to name other highly popular releases that did not suffer a few hours of downtime or severe bugs at launch or even for the first week or two. I'd like to see a list, as would others.

And that's why I refuse to work retail. The customer isn't always right, and they're welcome to go elsewhere. The kicker is that I know they'll get the same quality experience or worse elsewhere in most cases. Customers pull this crap because they hope to get free stuff, and they often get just such rewards. The same thing is seen in small children when they cry endlessly in the toy stores.

If more people wouldn't be so damn complacent then maybe more MMO launches would be without huge glaring "ooh hey let's give the NA and EU players the same amount of servers/bandwidth as the much smaller group of JP players" bull and more actual devs making damn sure the game works near flawlessly on day 1. For an old MMO sure this launch is great. For more modern ones, it's abysmal. I love how people are just chill with SE basically totally overlooking the fact that duh the western servers are gonna be packed(this is only early release, can't wait till Tuesday, but that won't be SEs fault either will it. It's especially pathetic after add in the fact that 2.0 is ALREADY a reboot of a disaster.

You'd think they'd learn or something. Now don't get me wrong, I fully expect a few emergency maintenances within the first few weeks but why? Because we as a community just accept that devs can't launch a game properly? What does that day about us...?

It was actually fine on Sargatanas with the exception of instances and duty finder.

Actually, I, and several hundred people, bought the game again - since we purchased the original 1.0 - exclusively for the early access. They did that on purpose, but I don't begrudge a company to try and double dip. I did buy it 3 years ago, at this point, I don't mind rebuying.

The launch so far seems sooth, outside this maintenance, so I'm not upset. I look forward to getting back in and leveling with the family some more.

I understand people wishing to derive as much benefit from the early access as possible. They are hardcore or just very enthusiastic about their game and want to excel from the get go.

So I am saddened that like many MMO's there is maintenance on EA day.

Take a nap, clean the kitchen, make a sandwich and a tea. All that good stuff. Mayhaps look at the maintenance as the much needed break you would have had to take at some point and utilize it for personal gain, instead of spending it on the forums.

I had a lot more to say but stupid char limit so I chopped it off. Can't remember now. Please don't call me a troll because I genuinely care about this game (I bought the 1.0 CE so I've seen more crap than most) but we shouldn't have to deal with this. We should be vocal and loud and make the devs realize we're not just gonna buy some 80% finished game and deal with it hike they fix it.

I'm sorry, I just had much higher hopes for 2.0 and so far only beta 3 had live up to those hopes :(

yeah yell and complain because this only happens in almost every MMO Launch. The Early access that games are doing these days really are not early access. With this incentive SE can have everyone who has purchased the game on at the same time and do a true stress test before actual launch. Because i know tons of friends who said I'll just wait till release. So the stress test they performed in the last few weeks was not really accurate because, most of the close beta testers from 1.0 are not playing till release. I I have played the beta so long I wanted to wait for launch. If it is still this bad come the 27th maybe...maybe get concerned but let SE handle this within a Week servers will be just fine

I'm sorry, but are you saying you didn't expect there to be any hiccups during a large-scale log-in fest of a AAA MMO title during a free three-day access period? I assume there are going to be issues because of the nature of programming. Games that have been live for years still have issues.

Companies set upper limits based on projections, not a solid number. Why would they cause problems on purpose?

ya know, im fine with them going into maintenance. what bothers me is all the ppl going out of there way to say stop qq,ing to other ppl, ppl that DID spend REAL money to be here. ofcourse things go wrong, but when some ppl pay for a service they expect to get it, idk some ppl are funny like that. when you pay for something and dont get it, YOU DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT, so let these ppl vent and go soak in a toilet.

I laugh when people say SE was being cheap with the NA/EU servers. You know modern MMO servers cost millions if not billions, right? I'm kicking myself for not saving the link someone once showed me where I could see the exact pricetag on the servers SE decided to buy for their Montreal datacenter.

Here's the real problem... the difference in servers (and the ones in JP and NA are different) is what's affecting whatever software the servers are needed to run. You're kidding yourselves if you think the JP and NA/EU servers are running a different version of the software. They're not. The problem lies in how the physical machine is dealing with the software when confronted with mass amounts of congestion that was UNFORESEEABLE prior to phase 4 because the open beta was not open before then. SE broke a record for consecutive connections to an open beta this past week -- over 100,000 people were playing. Obviously, the NA/EU datacenter has a few issues to work out because they are NEW servers. The JP datacenter is from 1.0...

You are NOT privileged because you preordered the game. You are GIVEN those rewards. You paid the same amount of money anyone would pay if they walked into the store on launch day and bought the game. And if you are a legacy member... as I am... you have so many advantages over others that you seriously shouldn't even complain. You got early access for free, among many other things we got for paying for 3 consecutive months a year ago.

And for people frustrated with the JP servers being up but the NA servers being down... are you really that childish that you have adopted the mentality of, "Well if I can't play, NOBODY SHOULD BE ABLE TO!"

By the time server transfers are allowed, this THREE HOUR MAINTENANCE is going to seem so irrelevant.

Open beta, early release, and official launch are GOING to have problems. This is an MMO. Learn to deal with it or don't play MMOs during the first few days of launch?

Errors and maintenance are definitely to be expected at an mmo launch, not really something to complain much about, however I must say I'm very concerned that it's only happening to the NA/EU data center. Them underestimating our population is a bullshit excuse, which somebody on this forum pulled out of their ass. It's quite clear we aren't receiving the same quality of service as JP, and it doesn't matter SE is a JP company. I just hope this isn't something that will continue for the lifespan of the game.

You white knights really need to stop with your blind defending of everything. It makes absolutely zero sense. If we speak out about our concerns to IMPROVE our gaming experience, why in the hell would you argue against that?? lol... you people are crazy I tell ya.

LMAO at you think 100,000 concurrent players is a record for an open beta. Diablo 3 and Battlefield 3 both had over 500k concurrent players and handled it so much better than SE is. Face it. People preordered to get early access and now they dont have it. SE Dropped the ball

I seen no balls dropped (aside some people coming out of puberty, of course.) While I'm not 100% keen on this game, it's been pretty smooth, smoother than you'd actually see. Even WoW blew up completely when it went into early access and launch, XIV ARR did better.

To be fair, I should have mentioned it was for Japanese-made/based games.

I'll show my age a bit, but I was in EQOA beta (everquest online for PS2) Also in WoW beta, This isn't a bad launch. Before some of you start casting judgment already, I would suggest trying some patience instead.

No, I paid for it as part of the deal for buying the game earlier. Are we to treat this as phase 5 of beta? As silly as it sounds, people have justified it this way already. So to be clear, like a brand new pair of shoes, or a car fresh off the assembly line, things like servers have to broken in to function properly in the long run?

The unavoidable truths to life:

1. Every living person on the planet must someday die.
2. In any contest in which a winner is named, there must also be a loser.
3. No AAA MMO title will be released problem-free, no matter how well-planned or well-organized it is beforehand.

It seems to only be an issue with the NA/EU Servers ( as they are new so they will have a few kinks to smooth out). Because I'm on Masamune ( JP server *with a international LS*) and it's running smoothly no issues.

the US/EU servers were not properly tested a 3 day phase doesn't = tested. the Japanese servers are what were tested and look they seem to be working just fine.
