I agree with topic. This game is a wreck.
I don't understand. It seems to me like OP is arguing semantics. What it is asking for is basically what they are already doing. We are in beta mode right now, it just isn't labeled that way. Or am I just misunderstanding the OP?
I never said I should stop posting. You are an obvious troll.
Can you explain to me what the difference is between:
1) Get the FFXIV servers offline. Work on the game and then relaunch in a year.
2) Keep the FFXIV servers online. Let people play and give feedback while they are working on the game. Have a (re)launch including the PS3 version somewhere early next year.
I would pick number two on any given sunday .... If you do not like it right now, stop playing and come back in a few months when hey fixed it. Why do you have to ask them to bring the servers offline and make even more players mad? You are a troll, clueless and/or selfish. Thats all I can make of this.
I was pretty much dissapointed when i played, i played the Beta and thought "well it is a beta".
I bought the CE, only to see that "i payed for a Beta?"
Nobody need to defend the Game, it was horrible at release ( it was an Apocalyptic Catastrophe), now it is pretty much the Content, its a simple fact and people have different tastes.
But since Yoshi took over, i have high hopes.
But you are definitely right, many people probably wont come back exept those who look after the game because of the Patches.
And it is too much to ask the people to wait, even when its free.
If XIV fails to bring good Content in the time i suggest (and I mean Content that evereyone dissapoint wich I highly doubt), then they probably better off to shut down and work on a new "XIV", but Yoshi is Jesus, he will just raise from the dead.
.. and your opinion is not helpful in the least bit. If you don't like it then leave.
Shutting down the servers would just cause more players to leave for said other games. Hell some people got bored and left when they were down for two weeks. At least by keeping the servers up people will continue to play.
Neither action would cause any bigs news. The game will receive praise or be damned based on PS3 launch.
It's funny people are throwing around the world "troll" and pointless posting...yet can't even stick to the topic of the thread.
The whole point of the forum is to be able to post your opinion. If you guys are just going to post something like "this thread it pointless", guess what? Your comment is even more so. Just leave, don't post anything, or post and stick to the topic of the thread.
Now, I have to agree with FFXIV being a mess. At this point, I don't see what the point is in patches anymore. They fix a handful of things? It's soon to be a year since release and yes, although there has been progress, it is nothing compared to how other mmos are being released are off to a great start. FFXIV is struggling just to keep up as it is.
I would prefer they put the game on complete hold, meaning suspend playing, and just solve everything at once. It's not like they are making any money by having players.
The entire point of the forums is to help the game grow, give constructive advice and discuss ideas with other players to improve the game. This thread is not helpful at all because pretty much all you are saying is "Bad game. Delete it." Therefore, it is pointless to the xiv forums.
Where's the "can't stick to thread topic" button?
Don't understand what the point of posting is, if you're not going to stick to the topic. You're not giving an opinion...or anything. Just posting pointless things. I assume to get more posts?
Anyway, I really wish at this point FFXIV would have delayed their release. As much as I looked forward to the release back in September, even ordering the limited edition and got it THE DAY of the release...how things are now, really makes me sad. I want to continue playing so bad...but it's just..boring and pointless. Sadly, by the time they "fix" everything. I'll probably be not interested anymore.
And what exactly do you think the team is doing right now? -,- *sigh* They aren't just sitting there, staring at their computer screens drinking a cup of tea. They are trying to fix and rebuild the game, everyone just needs to have some patience. Everyone also seems to forget the state of XI when it was released in Japan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvRh3PvrRWk JUST one of the MMOs comming out sometime soon that FFXIV has to fight with. Good Graphics? Check, Unique areas? Check, Different battle system than other MMOs? Check. These are going to have to be some godly patches in order to deal with every game coming out.
they created there engine from scratch and no one complained about it with ffxiii, and it would take years to make the game over mmo's have a ton of stuff.
they need to start working on it, seem like there milking it to me, 6months and very little stuff they done and no content added.
yeah they do have alot to lose, there already loseing money letting us play for free. everyone still has to get paid, project needs money for that and licence's & toolsQuote:
at this point in my opinion they don't have anything to lose.
So them forcing everyone to quit will improve the game how.
All I get out of the OP is he wants the game to fail already.
2nd question why is this thread not locked yet... mods are failing.
Ah you went back and edited your post after I posted (check the times).
They have a lot to lose, like their entire player base. If the servers are up there are people who can tell others with certainty when it is fixed and how well the fixes went,
If they shut down the servers for more than a month people would go find other MMOs and it would be incredibly hard to get them back.
Milking? Milking what LOL. It is not like their FFXIV cow is giving any milk (subscription fees) at the moment. So the whole fact that they are keeping the servers online should give any of you enough confidence that Square Enix is serious about FFXIV and that they are going to make it work. There is no other explanation for this. They are PUMPING their OWN money into FFXIV at the moment and I am sure they wouldn't do that if they didn't have fate in Yoshi.
You guys that keep saying it has been 7 months since release should think twice before writing such crap. Yes, it has been 7 months since release, but the guy that took over and the guy that is doing a complete overhaul only is there for 3 months ... 3 months is NOTHING if you see what they are planning to change. You guys are simply clueless and ignorant. most of you didn't even play the game for longer than 2 minutes probably.
You know, the whole fact you trolls are still posting here only shows the strong influence and power of the whole Final Fantasy franchise. If this was any other game you already would have forgotten about it. So call us fanboys, but you are not that different ....
I am defending SE and I think FFXIV will be great in the future if we give it time. However, if they decide to take the servers offline for whatever reason (I doubt they ever will ... just saying IF) I will leave and never come back. So that coming from someone that is branded a fanboy should tell you something right?
But people are already leaving it to find other MMOs. Myself included. That's not to say I won't be back to FFXIV.
And I didn't edit it after you posted, I was editing it as you posted yours because I accidentally posted mine. Hadn't read yours until after I had finished editing. Anyway, that's besides the point.
I suppose they would have less of a chance at getting players back, so I agree with you there. But as it is now, they are at a higher chance of losing the players they actually have. I really really hope they fix everything and make me want to play FFXIV again.
The people who like the game will stay and those who dislike the game will leave. There are people (myself included) who actually have fun with the game as it is now. I know the game isn't perfect but it will only get better. Shutting down the servers would force even those who currently enjoy the game to leave.
Wow. No need to be rude and mean. We are discussing our opinions. If you can't do so in a civilized and mature matter, I suggest you leave. And if you look at my signature, I am sure you can tell I have spent more than 2 minutes playing FFXIV, not to mention if you read the actual posts I started playing on the day of the release. I even invested in the limited edition. (Even though it wasn't even being sold in my country, and had to buy it from another.) That is how excited I was.
Now, I have sadly gotten bored. Hey, I will be HAPPY to be proven wrong. That means I'll go back to a game I had been looking forward to for a long time.
And since when is posting opinion and discussing trolling? This community sure is fast to throw the troll card.
The OP does indeed want the game to fail. Placing all hope on a relaunch built around no player feedback is just asking for it to fail all over again. A re-enactment of the first launch. It's essentially risking all chances of ever redeeming itself.
With patches we can see what they are upto and voice our opinions accordingly. Asking them to shutoff from the playerbase and release something that promises to magically fixes everything is blind faith.
pak, though I agree to what you said aboyt being rude, but grimm is one of many forum trolls we got. Not the anto ffxiv kind, but the forum troll that post anything to get a rise out of players. He from the stuff I seen from them, nothing he writes is constructive, typed in a hostile tone, and just plain rude.
I'm a ps3 player in waiting, I own the pc version but due to a pc mishap i currently have to wait. The only thing that peeving me off is the players atm. They are complaining about everything. Which is slowing the content. If the battle system didn't need to get fixed, for a 3rd time mind you.... we would have content.
Ok, you posted up an option, but you gave no suggestions in the direction of your given option. You say "start from scratch, rewrite the whole thing". Ok, a suggestion. However, to what? At what point do you suggest a full, openable alternative to SE's current plan?Quote:
LMAO. So everyone who has an extreme opinion is a troll. I mean come on all of you call someone a troll the moment they have a crazy idea. the word troll is so often use din forums now it has no meaning. And if starting over really upsets people to the point where they act like morons aren't they the losers?
you do not have an extream opinion, you have an ill thought out idea. If you can expand on your idea, properly, I imagine many people would listen. However, your idea is simple "change the whole thing". to what exactly? Pacman, Zelda, a waffle?
Ok, those suggestions were silly, but only because you have not given any further input to your idea. I shall remind you.
Ok, you spark an idea. But where now? are we to take your word that all would be ok if SE listened to this? I personally would struggle to agree to that.Quote:
Stop working on FFXIV.
Just stop. start over with the engine you have now mobs, races everything. Fix the landscapes fix the classes fix everything, Re-release it with PS3 and Digital DL for PC and everyone who paid for XIV originally gets it free on digital download off of a SE hosted download hub.
That is in my opinion the only way SE will come back from this.
what is YOUR plans for developing this game? what about story structure, land layout, combat system. class balancing, how would you develop a graphics team to come up with a aesthetic construct?
Instead of simply complaing "this is rubbish" why dont you actually give some solid feedback in the forums. Maybe you should think about that, instead of your next child like post.
Kimiko for the op, there is no X
Way to go. So we get a game we are able to play and provide feedback, vs. your idea of haulting development altogether and starting from scratch.
You're a freaking moron, did you know that?
Thankyou, so very much. Seriously, tears of joy are rolling down my face haha :)Quote:

This is EXACTLY what's wrong with the playerbase, and why what the OP said makes a little sense in a way. Too many people are complaining about the most inane and ridiculous things, it's like everyone is coming up with ideas and plans thinking that SE just has to sit back and soak up every single idea or gripe. I've seen everything from "I can't run around spamming jump like in WoW" to "OMG the spell animations don't match XI's". At what point will people be happy? They won't be, because the development team has that line of communication with the players right now, and the game is still being played are two of the factors.
If they shut it down and went into a hole to re-develop, people would whine and complain because SE is going into a hole, but at least what comes out would be their idea for an MMO and their vision for it (with a few things here and there added and stuff from the new betas and whatnot)....that's not a great idea either, because for some people that would be the thorn in their ass to make them never touch the game again (which is slightly ridiculous). But on the flip side, at least they could focus on things, because I feel like the community is the reason that we get random updates here and there to try and shut people up....that's what they feel like. Making the spell animations bigger felt like that, I mean....people need to start realizing this is a team comprised of human beings, not deities.
On the other hand, with this open development, lets be one with the players unification, development is literally going at a snails' pace....now, there are other factors, but honestly....everyone whining about some of the stupidest things I've ever seen in a game (I CAN'T JUMP SO ITS NOT A GOOD GAME NOR IS IT FUN!! WAHHH!) is ridiculous. At some point there needs to be a line that the dev. team needs to make so that not every opinion, gripe or complaint gets taken into consideration and added, because SE is in such a super state of damage control, that they're going overboard with it. The game will never, ever be "finished" if this keeps up, plain and simple. On the positive side, we get that communication and closeness with the team that SE is notoriously NOT known for, so that's cool....and we still get to play it, which is pretty cool, I'm enjoying playing it obviously.
Totally agree Kazahasi. I hope that SE, after the first few big patches with changes, calms down and stops listening to the players this much. Don't get me wrong, it is good there is some communication and it is good they are listening, but it is not good if they copy everything the players say.
It will not feel as a whole. Not sure if I can explain what I mean. If they copy ideas of players, rather than using their own view and creativity it will just be a inconsistent mess rather than a whole experience.
I would jump of joy if SE just commented and said: stop crying, no jump, no auction house, move on please. They should stop saying they are considering things, because that is giving the trolls even more reason to cry.
Heya!
And this will be the fourth time.
We can have fun while they work on the game in their local servers, letting us see the changes in real time. Why closing the servers so they can work on the game? They are already doing it while keeping us having fun.
It's not just winning. It's BI-WINNING.
See ya!
Tbh, your post was very well put together. Constructive as well as adding ideas and directions. This quote however, should be the pillar of any communityQuote:
