If it's anything like the beta forums, you can make a short initial post, then edit it to post your wall of text. I had to do that all the time when folks asked for advice.

Ah so great to have the Lore forum back!
Oh thank god there's an archive. I sad panda'd around when I first logged back in and saw everything gone D:
There's a whole sub-forum for lore? I may not have played 1.0, but I wish I had checked these forums more often xD I love reading up on lore in pretty much any game that's got it, haha!
Aww yea. Time to get back to complaining about the lack of scientific accuracy in a world of fantasy! I cannot wait!
You are more than welcome! I only stumbled upon them really but glad to find them all the same!
Anonymoose, maybe you should put a link or mention it in your first post in case anyone doesn't see my comment!
I can't wait to delve into the beautiful lore of 2.0 and onwards! I am especially excited for more information on the library they have hinted at coming in the future. So exciting! I hope to spend long days in this forum discussing Lore as I feel I didn't take a tenth the attention that I should have in 1.0!
Glad to have the forums back! Looking forward to new discoveries in ARR!
Hey everyone! I didn't discover the lore forums until after 1.0 ended and I was unable to log into the 1.0 forums, but now I can finally join you all!
Did anyone else notice the bit they put in-game about Thal Icebound? In Limsa (I think the Upper Decks) there is a path that leads down to a small sitting area with a tree and two npcs. The female hyur npc says something along the lines of "You want me to sing a song about you?" and the roegadyn npc next to her says "What? Have you not heard of Thal Icebound?"
Made me smile. :P
For ages I was locked out of these forums and couldn't get my 1.0 player to log in. Now, finally I can log back in and post. How I have lurked after you Moose, and read all of this glorious Lore with nary a voice to chime in. Thus, I wanted my first post to be in the lore forums, and I wanted it to be saying thank you for all the great lore discussions, to the warm welcome and telling all of you I cannot wait to finally participate in the banter!
I'm so happy the lore forums are back :] Anonymoose how I missed you!
welcome back all ^ ^
Welcome back for all to, we see in Eorzea ^^
Hello Lore forum critters~ Good to see the forum back in business~
Speaking of business, why do you suppose Cid was posing as Marques the priest?
Ahh, it is good to be back in FFXIV. :)
If I remember correctly (no promises)
Biggs and wedge claim he's been missing for a while, and if Catapult's ear for German can be trusted as well as I remember, the Crystal's Call trailer has Cid saying something more along the lines of, "I remember now..." than "In case you'd forgotten, Gaius..."
Hello Eorzea!
Honestly the fact he left the Garlean Empire because of the Bozja Citadel incident to me means Cid does not want to see innocent life be destroyed anymore. He came to the City-States to help them prepare to defend themselves, helping us Adventurers to stop Nael van Darnus. In the End of an Era CS Cid is present near the battlefield, he's seeing what his research has brought down upon Eorzea...the Meteor Project. Only it turns out Bahamut was inside and unleashes all kinds of carnage. It may have been too much for him and he looked for isolation or repentance, after all he's at a church taking care of the dead. Sometimes a beard on a man in stories is a man who has given up hope, like mountain men who left the big city to be isolated from people only to be discovered by teenagers in need who warm his icy heart and make him believe in people again (man I'm awkward sometimes). Maybe he left because he knew the Garleans would come after him if they knew where he was.
Amnesia seems to mimic the current 1.0-character storyline along the lines of people not remembering us. I'm not sure if SE would double-dip on that, why make him forget even more things. Unless of course the explosion made him hit his head.
Also Marques...Cid Del Norte Marquez...similar~
That's also very possible. 1.0 made him out to be a bit of a guilt-ridden manchild looking for his place in the world, to begin with. This was especially highlighted by the "adoptive" father/son relationship with Gaius that was a dialed back a bit in English, but clearly hinted at when they were arguing in "Alive." If that's the case, though, I'd be a little disappointed in him. He fled the Empire to make his own choices and was finally becoming who he really was. To think that he remembered everything and chose not to help Eorzea any longer... /sulk
Roughly translated, he says:
"I have never been more proud to name my ship the Enterprise. Now I recall everything once again. I am Cid Garlond."
My personal theory is that the "Fade to White" influenced his memory much like everyone else. But because he was so tightly involved with the heroes of light right through all those early and final moments, it also scrambled him far worse than most. Where others simply forgot the heros, he was left with a gaping hole in his memory.
And we will quest to get it back for him.
If you insist...

I'm here and back!
Welcome back! Always lurked these forums.
Hey guys!
Did I miss anything?
Fernehalwes, here back from the dead...but only for a day...then it's back to the land of the unliving...or a place the smallfolk like to call Seattle. Will PAX Prime tear out my heart and toss it, still throbbing, into a lavatory garbage receptacle to rot? Or will it merely laugh at me like one of those Old World elites with a top hat and monocle?
Does this post even make any sense!?
Parents. This is what game development crunch time can do to your children's minds. Don't let your children grow up to be game developers. This has been a public service announcement.
PAH! Nonsense! Without game developers, how would we ever know why it's snowing in Coerthas? Or what Thancred uses to maintain his dreamy hairstyle (hint: a little lanolin goes a long way)?
SO, for the next few weeks, in-between trying to remember what it's like to walk under the sun (I know, overrated) and playing a little Dead Island (has it been that long since I turned on my PS3!?), I'm going to be swimming through the archived Lore posts and catch up on all the goodness I missed while under the whip (localizing is much like that scene in Conan the Barbarian where Arnie is just pushing that wheel around and around and around until all the other slaves are dead). Hopefully by mid-September questions will be answered and minds...opened.
Until then, friends...
It's great to be home!
Good to have you back, Ferne. And thank you.
I'm so glad to finally be able to post in the forums! I've been lurking here in Lore for quite a while, but as I never actually purchased 1.0 I've never been able to contribute
:O too bad i can't bring the best-ever-made egg for you to sign at PAX...'Title: Ferne @ Dark Knight Audition'
It's too dangerous mighty/cute figure for airport securities to handle!
ahh how I love the lore forums.. Usually just a lurker here, but once in awhile get brave enough to post a question or wild conjecture.
Love people that actually pay attention to the story! (and so far an awesome story!)
I'm so looking forward to lurking here!! Really liked the reading the lore pages on the old lodestone. WB everyone:)
Hello Lore forums, though I happen to be new here. :P
Yesssssss. I'd been lurking in the old Lore forum but couldn't post. Now I can! Hooray, finally something good! :D
I miss ferne's posts... why? See above...well Bayohne is nice too! {Felt the keen eyes}
Last time, i stalked him at PAX Prime and asked him whether he will write some more blog soon. He told me he really need a break and wanted to spent more time with new born. I guess it's really tiring to give birth of 400-600k sub minion eyes...
