Marriage is already confirmed. Was in one of the early live letters I think, around when Alpha started.
Since this wasn't answered in this last letter I will ask it again.
I am wondering if there will be any "Gated" content in FFXIV. I would like areas that you actually have to work to get into, as well as all the content that that area includes. I understand that accessibility is key and, but I also think that it is important to maintain a level of accomplishment when you are playing a game.
The closest thing we really had to this type of content in 1.0 was Ifrit extreme and Darnus hard, but those were just revamped bosses. I think Aurum Veil had the requirement of doing Darkhold like one time to enter, but that was it, and among those, Ifrit Extreme was the only one that posed any type of challenge to get to.
I would like entire areas in FFXIV where we have to work to get to them. With the way they are doing zones and making them look incredible, it will just make it that much sweeter the first time we step foot in a new zone if there was a large hurdle you had to over come to get into it. The type of zone that when you talk about it to a player that is newer to the game they will get excited about their own journey to get there.
You mentioned in your last letter that they are altering the battle system for phase 3. Since this seems to be the biggest gripe in many of the reviews that have been posted of the beta I am wondering how it is being altered.
When do we get Ninja?!!
Once and for all, will War be a major tank, a major DPS, or will it be able to do both primary DPS and be a primary tank?
I prefer the old 1.0 gamepad setup. Will I be able to use it at launch? After playing FFXI and FFXIV so long, the cross hotbar just confuses me.
Explain how the job and class systems work exactly, especially for jobs that may branch from a same class, like gladiator being able to switch to Dark Knight or Paladin, do you have a different level system planned or we'll have our new job already at 50 when unlocked?
Are we going to get a new class for every new job we get?
Do you have plans for advance jobs that branch from jobs?
Will addons be as accessible as other games at release? and at what point are you thinking of adding flying & swimming
thanks!
Will there be consideration for 1.0 players who want to start on a fresh server? e.g. being able to play the exclusive story content without transferring levels/gil/items?
I've heard the Legacy mark will be account based but it would be strange to have the mark and not be recognised by NPCs as a returning player.
And will we be seeing the return of Dhalmel in A Realm Reborn?
Will performance and optimizations improve for Phase 3 and after? My rig could play FFXIV 1.0 maxed out at 60FPS (vertical Sync) outside and 40 in cities, yet in a Realm reborn even on mid settings i struggle to run on 60fps and my GPU and CPU dont seem to be utilized, Considering before the remake it was mentioned that performance for those who played 1.0 would be similar if not slightly better?
Will non combative classes (Disciplines of the Hand/Land) be able to pursue a quest grind system of levelling like the combative classes will be able to? If not, why?
Will there be any FATE's aimed (either primarily or as equals) at gathering and crafting classes?
Stuffed toys were recently mentioned for player housing, will they give any non cosmetic benefits to the player?
Is there any chance we'll see shepherd or any other DoL classes in ARR aside from the 3 we currently have?
It has already been mentioned that fishing will be a unique gathering class, with even weather effecting it. Will mining and botany be equally unique? Or will they be almost identical, just with different tools and resources gathered, like they were in 1.xx?
Is anything planned to make the crafting classes unique from each other? It seems to be pretty identical from what we've seen of carpentry and leatherworking, without either class really having any unique characteristics aside from the tools used and the items used/made. When the metal working classes (GSM, ARM and BSM) are introduced, that line will become even more foggy. For instance, BSM and ARM are in the same building and share many of the same recipes, how will they be made more distinct from one another?
Will there be quest rewards beyond the usual gear/gil/exp fare? Things like unlocking unique locations and services? For instance, helping a merchant or an airship owner, and then being able to access the items that merchant sells or access that location via airship from then on?
Will miqo'te (and ALL of the other races) children exist in ARR?
When the list of Discontinued Achievements was announced, I made sure to acquire everything on that list before the final save.
Now I would like to ask: What is the progress of the rest of the achievements that are being adjusted for ARR? Are there any notable changes to certain old achievements?
And for me personally, It'd be great to confirm that no further old achievements were discontinued after 1.0's end. Some people might be a little bit upset (both of them). :P
What are your thoughts on cash shops and microtransactions, both for purely cosmetic stuff and Pay2Win consumables?
Disclaimer: I'm not in any way indicating my own preferences regarding these things. It's simply a hot topic that comes up a lot and I'd like to hear Yoshi's stance on these things once and for all.
I'm wondering about this too. Particularly the crown for getting all of the old combative classes to 50, will that still be useable when ACN will be level 1? Or will there be an upgraded version of that achievement which will cover ACN and other classes to come out later in addition to the old achievement which will continue to only cover the 7 original combative classes?
When can we expect Dark Knight and Ninja to be playable jobs? Will the Dark Knight job actually branch off of Gladiator? If so, will that mean that Gladiator will also be able to wield two-handed swords?
I'm extremely interested in knowing how and when we will be picking servers. Could you show us an example of this process? A large number of my friends and I are really confused as to how we should go about our planning at the moment and we don't want all the information to come out with only a few days to organise ourselves.
- Will we be able to test multiple server regions before making our decision?
- Will we be able to transfer our characters in the future, if we feel we made the wrong choice?
- Will we be able to play with our friends from other worlds in instanced content (ie, can we specifically pick who we want to play with if we are all on at the same time)?
- Will there be any servers specifically labelled as 'international' for those of us from 1.0 servers to congregate on and avoid being split up?
- How are you planning to encourage people to play during the inevitable 'quiet hours' on regional servers?
All my questions are kind of based around that. I trust you guys to make a great game, I just want to play it with the friends I have made in 1.0 (from multiple regions of the world) and the rest of my friends from my site (who are also from around the world). :)
In addition to my dear friend's excellent questions regarding the future of server selection in relation to our 1.0/Legacy characters:
- Is there a chance that servers will become "full" and we could be locked out of a server previously agreed upon among our friends, allowing well organized friends and linkshells to actually get separated, despite all planning efforts? What measures will be put in place to make sure that this will not happen?
- Will server selection take place in advance of launch (with an "application process") as is hinted in this thread? http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...orld-Transfers
- Will 1.0 or Legacy characters have a first server choice or some type of priority to select from the worlds/servers that are reserved for existing/imported characters (not "new character servers")?
When is blue mage coming?
What content is being discussed for the Gold Saucer area?
To prevent the housing areas from being ghost towns, what activities or ideas do you have to promote the use of them?
I don't know if you have been asked this before, but will a statue of Louisoix be considered as a landmark of somekind somewhere in Eorzea for players to find with some flavour text to give more lore about him? This could also be extended to any kind of landmark, maybe have a little mini-cutscene detailing the significance of a person or a place?
Will the marriage quest be implement at launch, and if not at launch, how soon?
Could we get a confirmation that one of the new hairstyle options for lalafell will be an afro?
How will you be implementing batch crafting?
Can you tell us more about PVP leveling and abilities for each class?
Can you tell us if you plan on letting us summon a primal against a primal?
Can you tell us more about PVP card games and if we will be able to win someone else's gill?
Can you show us some of the bigger monsters you are promising?
Can you tell us more about materia?
Will we have the glorious Dhalmel monster come to Eorzea for new adventures?

Will we have payment options like in 1.x? Such as the 6 month plan?
In a previous letter it was mentioned that widgets will be allowed in ARR. Will SE make some of these widgets? I know that some of the fan base will be allowed to make them.
